I finished it last night. wow. That last episode really got me.
-The scene between Mare and her mom in the restaurant, where the mom says I've forgiven myself, I wish you could forgive yourself. That was so poignant and powerful. The dynamic between them had been one of the best parts of the series for me and it's one that really resonated with me.
-It bugged me that deacon Mark would leave Erin in a park in the middle of the night. If he had any common sense he would at least stick around.
-The bathtub scene made me so angry. Why use so much water and keep the water running when it's already more than half full? I kept yelling, turn off the effing water!
-This is a really shallow one, but I can't get past the ugly beard on John. It's stomach turning, and makes the relationship he had that much less plausible.

We binged it in two days. The tone of it seemed to change after the kidnapper was caught. I’m not sure I can articulate how though.
It was well done overall, but there are weak plot points like why Dylan would drag that girl across the ground and stick a gun in her face so that his parents wouldn’t be sad. Also? He was shot in the back. I doubt he’d be running anywhere.

I don’t know. I knew something was up with the son so in that last episode I found it easy to pinpoint the twist. Still really enjoyed it though.

I thought I missed something with this too. I think he heard someone outside that same night and went to get the gun and it was gone, then it was back the next morning or something? I swear he said it came back days later but I did not go back and watch and could be wrong. Yes. I just finished the show. He says he noticed the gun missing so, what, he got up in the middle of the night and checked the shed? And how does a retired cop not report his gun being stolen?

The whole resolution was really upsetting to the point that I possibly regret watching the show. I mean, I knew it wasn't a feel good story obviously, but yeeeeeeeessssshhh parts of the last episode had me ugly crying. The first 4 episodes were so good though. And I'm glad we saw Mare's journey to healing.
This was so, so much like Broadchurch but Broadchurch was better, imo

The only thing I know about this show is that it was filmed near Philly. Well, also that they dressed the characters after sitting in a Wawa and looking at what people were wearing in line. RUDE, HBO. I really like it. The accents threw me because I thought they were trying too hard, but by episode two, I was like, actually....that's exactly what people from Delco sound like! This is cracking me up. I just started it and I was like I don’t hear an accent! 🤣
