Good morning. This week I’m tapering for the race on Sunday so it will be low key. I did 3 easy miles today on the tread.
I did finally join HCOTF. I’m excited to start doing some more strength training again after the race is over.

Also, hi. I’ve gone completely rogue off the HCOTF calendar. Trying to do things that don’t aggravate my hip AND stay sane while I wait for my appointment on Thursday. So my upper body is getting a lot of extra attention!
I also tried the live sweat steady yesterday. It was hip hop and would have been a huge output for me if I went all in. Highly recommend!

5:30 am body pump done, went home and took the kids to school then hit the gym on way back for 45 min cardio. I'm feeling guilty about my breakfast. We had delicious left over tortillas from a fav mexican restaurant and 1 slice of bacon so I made myself a really yummy bacon, egg, and cheese taco. I threw in a handful of spinach. It was yum but probably not how I should have started the week after I ate my way through the weekend. ETA my guilt comes from the second tortilla I toasted with cheese ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) didn’t need that but it was good! And now the tortillas are out of the frig. L- no clue. Something light. D- damn delicious Korean beef bowls with a cruciferous mix. Jasmine rice for kids.

Actually, it was my second thought. My first involved an inventory of my fridge/pantry to see if I had the stuff to make that for breakfast tomorrow.

the end of last week was a mess bc my kid was home sick. so i'm one workout behind my Liift group and made up for missing leg day this morning.
i am thinking of using a lunch break to sneak in the regularly scheduled workout this afternoon but i also got my first Pfizer shot this morning so it's hard to say how sore I'll be.

Today I return to the gym for the first time since November 2019 (This is when I stopped during pregnancy). I am sooo excited to meet up with my trainer and have him kick my ass again.

MH just brought up another interesting point about the Tread issue — in normal times, there would not be nearly as many people bringing treadmills and other kinds of equipment into their homes. And gyms don't have to worry as much about pets and toddlers (obviously safety, but it's a different space). But because of COVID, people are building home gyms and in many cases bringing these incredibly powerful machines into their living rooms without really understanding all the implications. It's like if all of a sudden people started wanting to have table saws in their living rooms. Of course there's going to be an uptick in table saw related injuries.

Some of these injuries probably could have been avoided with proper safety mechanisms on the tread that are present on other treadmills.

I have a virtual half coming up on Saturday that I think I will just run on my treadmill. I just haven't been in the mood to get outside to run, and the weather is all over the place.
I did drop back into my previous decade on the scale this morning. It won't last, but I'm not too worried about it as long as I'm not gaining.
I also was getting a bit burnt out on bagel w/PB and honey for breakfast, so I changed it up for this week and my concoction was delicious. Whole wheat bagel with Laughing Cow spicy pepper jack cheese and deli turkey.
Saturday 45 min fartlek run 10 Rounds - Wk 2 Boxing 3 MBF - Day 1 Lower Body Burn
Sunday 9 mile long run MBF - Day 2 Core Circuit (AMRAP = 6)
Today 3 mile base run MBF - Day 3 Upper Body Burn

I, too, have conflicting feelings on the tread+ situation. I do hope they come around and institute a fix. It seems like such an easy thing that could prevent more serious injuries. I'm glad they're at least going to do the passcode for now.
I didn't work out at all this weekend, so today I had a great leg day. It's amazing what a few days of rest does for my workout.
Workout: MM lower body (focus was glutes)

As far as the Peloton thing. There is a fix that will make this treadmill a lot safer they just don't want to do it because it will hurt their profits. The fact that they are warning that not just children who are wild cards and can turn on anything but pets have to be kept away says a lot.
I'm thinking if Peloton doesn't respond soon it will actually hurt them more than if they just did a recall and fixed it and we're done with it.

I have to say, it is fairly humorous to see me use the cordless jump rope. My left wrist just can't figure it out and the ball just flops around (hehe).
Should I go back and read about this Peloton thing? I don't Peloton but it sounds like a big deal.

Oh yikes, that Tread+ situation sounds scary. I used to take my key off all the time but stopped doing it when the software wouldn't catch up and my workouts wouldn't load to the screen. DS lost interest in climbing on it a while ago but I still freak myself out some time thinking I should keep the key off.

Gyms don't, but Peloton's entire business model is to have it at home. So during design, small people and pet safety is something they should have considered. Yes, the end user still has responsibility, but this is also a design issue that they could address and they seem to want to gloss over it.

Good afternoon!
Yesterday I completely overdid it with brunch & Bloody Marys, then a visit to a brewery in the afternoon where I shared soft pretzels with H, and then leftover pizza for dinner. Time to get back on track. I am doing a girls night in Pittsburgh on Saturday and I want to feel good about myself that day, so I'm hitting it hard with the workouts and food the next 5 days.
20 min glutes/legs with Robin, 10 min Pilates with Hannah, 10 min core/yoga with Denis, and 15 min country ride with Hannah.
B - toast, turkey bacon, fruit L - leftover Pho from Friday (nutrition facts on this are all over the place, I put it in as 9 WW points and I'm hoping I wasn't way off) D - lemony shrimp quinoa bowls from Skinnytaste S - ?

They just don't want to fix it. That's all

Some of these injuries probably could have been avoided with proper safety mechanisms on the tread that are present on other treadmills. Yes and no as well. I do agree that there is more gym equipment in homes now, and not everyone has ideal spaces for giant pieces of machinery, or think to add in safety measures. All of which can lead to problems. I watched that peloton tread video. It chilled me to my core, especially after having my own kid get hurt on a treadmill. But ours has super low ground clearance and the back under and around the deck where the belt loops under is welded solid steel. Nothing is going under. It flung DD2 off instead of sucking her under like the kid in the video which is what should happen. Peloton absolutely needs to figure out an after market solution for their design flaw, period.

You can also store your table saw somewhere else. You can't store your treadmill.
These aren't even comparable. Peloton is just trying to avoid as much liability as possible.
Eta: I'm obviously not on Peloton's legal team and non of this is legal advice lol. But it's reasonable to have a treadmill out in your house with kids. It's not to have a table saw

Sorry if I’ve missed any big congrats. I’m not at a great place and skimming as to avoid a lot of the tread convo.
It’s another super lovely day so we got out for a nice walk. 2.25 miles which is my farthest since end of Feb.
I started having some pain like wayyyy up in my bum like where my femur sits under/in my pelvis? Idk what that’s about. I think I was doing a weird leg stretch like half asleep the other night and maybe I messed up something. So I need to sort that out but it felt so nice (otherwise) to spend more time out walking.

Checking in after a nice weekend! I decided that I'm going to work to get my base mileage up to more like 5 miles rather than 3, but I didn't count my family run/bike ride Saturday morning - I think we did just under 3, and that was fine. Also did a nice long hike with everyone yesterday. Today, I did 10 minutes of yoga (with Ross) to line me up for 100 tomorrow (live at 5am pacific), 45 minute run (old outdoor 80s run with Matty), and then biked my kid to school (2 miles round trip). I'm done now, but we do have a pool time later today, and I'm sure it will feel nice to get in the water/hot tub!
I made split pea soup with the leftover Easter ham for lunches this week, and I also have plans to get the kids involved making some broccoli cheese soup for dinner another night this week. Fingers crossed they'll eat it, but if not, I'll still have a delicious dinner!

I'm not trying to equate the two things. Yes of course Peloton is marketed as home gym equipment. I do think there are more people purchasing home gym equipment now than in past years because of the pandemic. That was the point MH was making. Not that Peloton doesn't have responsibility here. They absolutely do. Just that there are so many more treadmills in homes right now than there normally would be, thereby exacerbating the already-existing problem.

I think this is a tread specific problem. I have never seen anything like that video. Maybe if the tread came out during non pandemic times there would be less incidents but it still would have come up and there would still be a fight over the recall. Does that make sense? Eta but I don't like the phrasing of the implacation of it being in their home because the tread is not a normal set up for a treadmill. That doesn't have normal safety features etc

Tenth ride today. I did a 20 minute rock ride with Olivia. I really need to start paying more attention to the difficulty ratings on these rides. I picked this one because of the music playlist and didn't realize it was an 8.2. I really need to stay in the 6/7 range right now.

I'm not trying to be snarky or a jerk. This is on Peloton. Sure there are some parents not watching their kids but you also can't watch your kids 24/7 and Peloton knows that. Also, you shouldn't have to worry about your pets and objects being attacked by your treadmill. There is an easy fix for this and they just don't want to do it. They knew this before they released it I guarantee it
