BOTM books for May are up!! I might be grabbing 3 this month - eek! Definitely Project Hail Mary; super excited about that one, itβs been on my TBR list since I found out about its existence. That doesn't show up as an option for me. Do they vary offerings by person? I see How Lucky, Ariadne, The Last Thing He Told Me, Imposter Syndrome, and Things We Lost in the Water. I'm thinking of getting Ariadne. Itβs an add on, not a main pick. Maybe thatβs why you arenβt seeing it. Check there. I chose The Last Thing He Told Me, How Lucky, and Project Hail Mary.

Can I ask a dumb BOTM question? Can you just get an add on book or do you have to get one of the main books to get an add on too?

None of the main BOTM are really grabbing me. I did have The Last Thing He Told Me on my TBR so I may choose that one. I'm disappointed because there were a lot of books coming out this month I was hoping would be on the list. I may skip this month.

Thanks for the heads up! I didnβt think theyβd be up til tomorrow. I got Ariadne, Project Hail Mary and The Girl With Stars In Her Eyes. Definitely another good month. I hope they have the new Casey McQuiston or Taylor Reid Jenkins for next month.

If I skip a month and get a credit, the credit can be used for an add on, right? But an add on is $9.99 and what I'm charged for my credit is higher than that, right?

I chose Ariadne and Project Hail Mary for BOTM. Nothing was really grabbing me except for Project Hail Mary which I'm excited about! I got Ariadne because I loved Circe and I saw comparisons. This is why I was leaning towards Ariadne too.

I'm super excited for Project Hail Mary. I've really enjoyed all of Andy Weir's books so far.

Same. I do have 3 credits so I may get it anyway, but I don't know. I was expecting some of the others What were you hoping for? I was kind of hoping for an early release of Riley Sager's new one and maybe the Taylor Jenkins Reid ones. We still have next month for them.
ALso I figured it would be a long shot, but Stacey Abrams book too.

I was really hoping for Taylor Jenkins Reidβs new one too. Iβm glad they had Ariadne because I was definitely more attracted to the add ons this month than the actual choices. I donβt want to skip another month because I want to get my 12 for my BFF awards before the book of the year awards so I can get my free credit!

So those of you who recommend Anxious People . . . I am dealing with a lot of anxiety right now - more than any in my adult life - is this book going to be a good read for me?
Iβve read every other Fredrik Blackman book (I think) and really want to read this.

I am working through A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. Incredibly beautiful writing, loving the story but it's a tome! I am breaking it up with The Silent Patient. Not my usual type of read but I am in the mood for something different!

Iβve read every other Fredrik Blackman book (I think) and really want to read this. I remember someone here saying that it gave them anxiety so I donβt want to say yes automatically. But that wasnβt my experience with it. There is definitely some tense/tough stuff going on but I thought it was beautifully written and very uplifting overall.

I finished Pretty Little Wife and thought it was a decent thriller. Not awesome but fine and Iβm not mad I read it.
I read You Owe Me One by Sophie Kinsella and it was ok. It wasnβt my favorite of hers but an easy, breezy read.
I just started Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne. The Hating Game was a DNF for me a couple of years ago so hopefully I like this one better!

Iβve read every other Fredrik Blackman book (I think) and really want to read this. I think everyone is different but I read it last year when I was extremely depressed and anxious and just generally in a terrible place and I thought it was lovely and uplifting. It was my favorite book from last year and I literally hugged it when I finished it.

Okay, I have another dumb BOTM question. So if I skip this month then my credit goes to next month, then for June do I have to pay at all or can I only use the credit? Or do I have to pay the June price and also have the credit to use?

I finished You Deserve Each Other. I enjoyed it but good grief the main character was insufferable. I spent most of the book annoyed with her.
Now I'm starting The Children's Blizzard and also The Once and Future Witches.

Iβve read every other Fredrik Blackman book (I think) and really want to read this. When I read it last year, I remember joking about the title with my husband because I was in the middle of going through some heavy depression and anxiety. I loved that book so much! I donβt feel like it made anything worse for me. Also, another book that I read when I happened to be going through stuff was Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, and I also LOVED that book. It was almost like a therapy session for me. Just wanted to share with you. Iβm sorry you are having a rough time right now. Sending happy thoughts your way β€οΈ
