shan-ah-doo when the world opens up again, we do vodka shots at the russian tea time and then go stumble around the dinosaurs. This would be the absolute perfect day for me. And you can listen to me spout off my useless facts about everything there.

I don’t care about the whole art part of this conversation, but yeah, I don’t gravitate towards emotional movies or TV because I’m a high empath and I don’t need to be taking on emotions from fictional characters. Shows like This is Us just feel like work for me. It’s almost emotional manipulation and for ME I’m not into it. I tend to consume entertainment and art that makes me laugh and smile. Some people pride themselves on crying and I’m not subscribed to that ministry It’s a last resort for me. Unfortunately it still happens but I would really it rather not.

Every pet post here is another confirmation I'm glad to live that pet-free life. My animatronic Baby Yoda, who is cuter than 99% of pets and children anyway, is as close as I want to get. Rude. My IG post today was precious.

If you guys need something new to argue about, I realized while aimlessly scrolling IG tonight that I hate the “naked” cakes that have frosting between the layers but not on the outside. I don’t care how perfect your cake is. It needs frosting. I said what I said. This bullshit. (Sorry, Chrissy.)

We're currently watching the original Magnum PI on the Roku channel for this reason.

I avoid sad, deep and heavy shit like the plague. I will tear up at almost any movie that isn’t even remotely heavy because there is always some moment at the end when I’m invested in the characters and something poignant happens. So the hardest of hard passes to full time viewing of that kind of stuff like This is Us. It’s what actually caused me to break with with Grey’s Anatomy so many moons ago. It was the first show I ever divorced. I realized one episode that all I did was cry each episode and I dropped it and never looked back. My kids tease me like my mom teased my dad at every movie. We will cry. I have a few I hold in my back pocket for when I need to release, but basically any new movie that has any feels will make me cry. My non emoting children find it endearing at least. They only cry when they don’t get what they want. Like their father.

All of this is hilarious as I actually enjoy a lot of paintings. My favorite afternoon in the city was when my mom and I had a docent at the AI of Chi give a whole talk on Cassatt. I love her work. However, I could totally understand someone taking one look and yawning. Domestic stuff speaks to me, and it's domain I can be in peacefully. This is how I am about history museums. I would spend hours in them if I could and would probably walk past an art museum. I accept that spending 3 hours at the Field museum would bore most people to tears without judgement. I’m hours late, but next time I’m in Chicago, I’m dragging you with me to the Field Museum. It is my most favorite place and I could spend hours there and nobody else wants to do that with me. I spent a lot of time researching internships there and never pulled the trigger. Idk why. Young me was so dumb.

I had one and it was really boring if that helps at all. And I had to pay for parking. That makes me so sad 😞 I got to eat lunch with Sue, so it wasn’t all bad! They just didn’t know how to effectively use interns. Which was a common problem IME, in a lot of places. Eta it was during the Machu Picchu exhibition, and I did get to sit in on a call seeking city approval for llamas on Lake Shore Dr. And the Jacqueline Kennedy dresses were coming, and sigh. So beautiful.

It's not about being edible. It's about maximizing deliciousness. Frosting is gross, so done. 💯. It really is. I spend most of my cake life scraping off all icing and frosting from cakes because the breading is all in after. I actually have naked vanilla and chocolate cupcakes that are meant to be dessert or partnered with coffee

Well, it sounds like you have explored and made decisions that are healthy and good for you. So what I said doesn’t apply, because I said it was worth exploration. And I’m not on a campaign to make everyone love art, but I was really put off by the dismissal of art as an important expression, not just for individuals, but for the nation as a collective. People don’t have to love it, but dismissing it as unimportant, whether it’s your thing or not, which is what was happening at the beginning of the thread (not by any one person), just irritated me. Wait, did someone say it’s not important? I’ll admit I skimmed more than read but I didn’t see anyone say it wasn’t important? I feel like you’re just taking these opinions personal which is absolutely ok but the manner it’s coming off is kinda shitty. Yes this is my thing. I can eye roll something (and often do at classic books because people use them as prestige reading whatever) because to me they are a lot. I still realize those authors worked their asses off and are very important to the whole art and have respect for them and like people who read them. Not everyone likes the same things ::gasp:::
