Good morning! I’m at work until 2. A friend is coming over this afternoon to get the old couch moved out of the living room and help us get the baby gate up correctly. I don’t know if I mentioned last weekend but it was totally jacked up so we have to redo it. V is army crawling all over though so it needs to get done.

I’m in a sad, crying ‘will we ever see the end of this’ mood today. All the experts who feel the need to talk about the current situation and give opinions 88 times a day are driving me nuts. This morning one of them stated that if the British version of Covid is going to get the overhand here, we’ll be in total lockdown (everything except supermarkets, pharmacies & takeout closed) until summer 😳. I know I should turn of the news and just ignore it, but I’ve always been a news junkie and that’s a habit that’s hard to break. ETA its a very FWP I know, but sometimes I still ‘mourn’ a little what this period should have been about. Showing of my baby girl, coffee with friends, shopping for cute baby clothes etc. But we’re all healthy and safe and I’ll get myself together again. Tomorrow that is, I’m allowing myself to wallow for a day .

I'm sorry nam2013. I try to take it one day at a time but it's hard right now. I hope it's a bit easier in a couple of months.

Morning! Nothing really on the agenda for the weekend.
Evie woke up feeling good, but isn't doing so well now, so we are definitely laying low. She said she wanted to go out for dinner tonight, so that's the plan.

nam2013 turn the news off. I can't remember the last time I watched the news in its entirety. Between covid and all the political bullshit, I just check weather on my phone. Pretty sure I've seen every episode of Law & Order SVU by avoiding the news for the past year.

I woke up at 5:30 for an hour, which was long enough to step in cat vomit. 🤪🤮 Fell back to sleep and heard Cadence get up about an hour later. She was nice enough to just get her tablet and go back to her room. She just came in my room and she's fully dressed, cats are fed, and now she's putting on her makeup for the day. 🙄 She said she wants to go somewhere, so we may just go to half price books and to pick up lunch.

nam2013 oh yeah, "Santa" brought her these little surprise balls that had lip gloss and eye shadow. And my uncle got her this light up mirror, so now she does it every day. Blue eyeshadow, pink lips. It's quite the look. LOL

nam2013 absolutely don’t feel bad about the way you feel. I think often about how lockdown would have been easier when I wasn’t working but I would have been more upset about not having those lazy days of doing whatever I felt like, meeting friends for lunch, etc, just me and C while the others were in school. On a similar note, I was telling DH last night how I always say I work where I live so I get all the same days off as my kids. I used to think this was a great thing but now there are days when I totally wish I had one day a week home alone. There are 2 days a year where middle school only has a half day so I would get like 2 hours alone and it was heaven but now I will have a kid in middle school with me for like 13 years if I stay there (been considering a career move).

nam2013 I am a new junkie as well. Last weekend I started limiting it to only one half hour news program a day and a little scrolling on the Politics board. I’m getting an update so I feel in the know, but am not drowning in it. As a result I am reading more books, which is a nice escape.

I slept until noon, which was so needed. It was supposed to rain all day but it’s now on and off so I’m hoping to get the kid outside a bit today. He probably won’t want to though. I’m sure he will want to have a Nerf battle at some point so I’ll need to get some coffee first.
We were supposed to leave for Jamaica yesterday so I was pretty bummed. I decided to rebook it for November since it is fully refundable up to a month before. I got one night free and the total price was $980 less than what we would have paid now due to their New Years sale. Even if it needs to be canceled, it’s nice to have something on the horizon.

I like whimsical books or books set in New England/Paris/Norway, just because I e been there, I can picture the places in my mind and can sort of escape trough books. Tell me what you are reading!

Hiiiii. I started my day with the first couple episodes of Tiny Pretty Things on the treadmill, which was my longest treadmill run in ages and I feel a bit lousy now. Whoops. At least it's been a rainy morning so we've just been laying low. The boys are SO LOUD though, ha.
It ended up being a crazy busy week at work. I got my raise and bonus info, which was better than expected. But I also found out that I will be reporting up into this guy who came over as part of a recent acquisition. First off, I don't trust this guy even a little and culturally he is a terrible fit in our organization. Secondly, I have spent the last 2 years turning this team around and getting shit done, only to get shoved behind him. I get it - one of us has to be #1 and I am pretty sure he makes way more than me, which would have been problematic. But I have been kicking ass, raising my profile and gaining a lot of respect so this just sucks. There's also a lot of whispering and bitching going on since the changes were announced because our leadership is suddenly looking a lot more white and male. I have spent my entire career navigating male egos and I am over it.
Sorry for the rant. At least I can afford all the Botox for my 11s so I can keep my RBF in check with these knuckle heads.

I’m sorry nam2013. How is vaccine rollout in your country? Hopefully the predictions are wrong and it won’t be that long. I am also bummed that this time with baby has been so different.

Good morning! I woke up with a sore throat and a headache. No fever or loss of smell/taste so not covid. If it doesn’t go away by tomorrow I’ll go get tested JIC.
I’m currently working on homework (I know you are all shocked). I finished this weeks homework and now working on next weeks. I’m hoping to get at least a week ahead. It’s hard because the experiences they want us to talk about I don’t really want to share but whatever.
L is doing his Razkids and E is in her room watch Elena. L can’t watch tv this morning after yesterday’s behavior.
Last night our air conditioner wasn’t working. But it’s working this morning. We are leaving it on today to make sure it stays working.

Morning.
The boys made it to my ILs yesterday so I had a wonderfully quiet night and slept in this morning. I even put the good sheets on my bed last night so I had them all to myself for a few nights.
I have so much to do today, but hope I can get it done quickly with no one here. Just a lot of cleaning and picking up. The lights in my kitchen went out the other day, too and after talking to my coworkers, I think I know what it is and I can fix without calling an electrician. So I will be trying to get that project done, too.
I was supposed to grab Indian food last night, but didn’t feel like getting back out, so that’s on deck today. Can’t wait.

Hi! Add me to the news junky list. CNN is just always on in the background. The anchors have seeped into my dreams at this point. It started with the election and I just haven't been able to stop nam2013, I totally understand. I mourn what K/1st grade could have been like for S, and what B's first year really making friends, starting activities, going to birthday parties could have been. I also felt that way about maternity leave w/ B. I was so looking forward to it, then when MH left for 2.5 months, and B was the worst sleeper on the planet, I just never got to enjoy it. I romanticized it so much, knowing he was my last baby, and it just... sucked.

We are heading to our bubble family for pizza and playing. S misses his bff so much, they are so stinkin cute together. So that will be nice, and I can relax a bit while the kids run around. That's about all that's on the agenda today. Tomorrow we are supposed to have the outdoor ninja class in our backyard but when it rains, the backyard stays muddy for days, and it rained last night, so we may have to cancel.
S has no school on Monday for MLK day, but B does, so I'm trying to think of something fun for us to do (I am working, but not that busy)
Otherwise, just groundhogs day around here.

jewels that’s exactly it! Dd1 was an incredibly difficult baby, so I felt (like you) that that period was taken away from me. Since girl is our last one too, I romanticised enormously, picturing loungy mournings in bed, giving her luxurious baths, taking a baby massage class. I keep calling it the year of stolen moments.

nam2013 another thing to replace the news with is music videos on YouTube. When you're tempted to turn on the news instead put on some music. The 80s videos are incredible--cheesy effects, so much hair, happy tunes. It's hard not to be unhappy. I totally get it though. It's perfectly normal to feel the way you feel. joelies I hope he doesn't mess up the work dynamic too much. That stinks. klong11 I think the girls got the same makeup toys for Christmas. They yelled out right away they got eye shadow and lipstick. My mom turned to me and apologized right away. 😆 💄 wedding we were supposed to leave for Hawaii in a few days. 😒

Lazy day here. I finally worked out and I'm going to shower. We have some alfalfa pellets that I erroneously bought for the rats before I realized they don't eat them and I think we'll go feed ducks.

I made MH install the corner curtain rod in our bedroom so I could hang the curtains I got for Christmas. Then H had his first swimming lesson. He had so much fun and didn’t want to leave. I was impressed at how much he could actually do without his floaties on.
After lunch MH cut the wood I bought for shelves. I was able to install the ones in the hall closet but the ones for the laundry room will have to wait until tomorrow or Monday.
It’s sad when you get this excited about shelves.
