I had to leave my commuting area for work today (basically being a courier), and I had 6 hours of bliss in the car. It's the farthest I've been from my house since August. I'm like, so when do you need me to go again? Ha!

I posted in the religion board inquiring about unitarian universalism, if anyone is a part or has an opinion. I know there's a lot of crossover there, and not a lot of traffic, so I'm putting an alert here. It's under the "We do you fit" thread.

layloo“Deep Sleep Sheep is Krinos Bulgarian White Cheese mixed with Honey and Lavender ice cream!“ Interesting and I would try. They have so many interesting combinations and it can make it hard to decide which to try.

I'm struggling today and just need to get it all out somewhere, so feel free to skip.
I'm just feeling really down about everything right now. Between the Covid vax rollout struggles, the possibility that it doesn't really help with the new strains, that it may be detrimental to the super elderly, the thought that we may be in this stasis for as much as another year and so on. It's all just making me feel extremely overwhelmed.
My mom also had some medical issues over the weekend, nothing serious but I have background worries about covid exposure in hospital and then my dad was in a minor car accident on the way home from dropping her off (he's fine, just shaken up a little). I'm not at all in close proximity (~ 8hr drive away) and obviously Covid complicates any potential need to travel for emergencies which just adds a whole extra layer of worry on top of everything.
It's been nearly a year since I last saw any of my friends in person and I'm lonely. My four year old is too. My 14 month old doesn't know what she's missing obviously, but she hasn't been able to do anything, meet other kids/babies etc. I'm just really really sad. And overwhelmed.

I ordered some books last week from Thriftbooks- 1776, The Presidents Club: Inside the World’s Most Exclusive Fraternity, and Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation. I got the hardbacks for my one day bookshelf. Pretty excited about them, TBH. I really didn’t like American history (and I have a history degree.. go figure) so I didn’t retain much. The Presidents Club was really good! It was a great read of American history through the presidential lens. I thought it was really interesting to read about the relationship between Clinton and Nixon.

Big hugs all around. I’m trying really hard not to spiral right now because it feels like it’s going to be pretty bleak at least for the next little while. I’m clinging to hope that we’ll start to see real life improvements soon now that we have a new administration. Like we just need to hang on a little longer, then slowly slowly we’ll see things getting better bit by bit. 🙏🏻😩

Big hugs to all of those who are struggling right now. ❤️
I’m sure you were all concerned about my contact. There was not a contact stuck in my eye. 😂 I’m an idiot. But there was an ulcer, so that’s what I feeling. Crisis averted.

I'm sorry so many of you are also feeling defeated and overwhelmed. I know there will be an end, it's just hard to picture it at this moment. And ouch to your eye karabear. I hope it's something that resolves/heals quickly.

elle Sending you hugs. I hope your parents are doing ok today. This is really random with your thoughts, but back with my first kid I read this great pregnancy book. It explained labor in stages and went into how emotions and mind would overtake the physical stages. Specially, it mentioned the 8cm dilation as the “transition period” where those giving birth tend to lose hope or have that sense of helpless effort. The recommendation in the book was to have the partner double down on the reassurance and coaching because the despair is real. All of that is just to say that I think your feelings are very valid for what we have gone through in a year. It’s not childbirth, but I’m trying to put myself in a space where I am in the “transition” period of Covid. There is still a ton of work to be done and it’s unpleasant to continue, but there is an end in sight.

I also apologize for dropping childbirth/labor in here like it’s just this thing that comes out rosy in the end. That’s definitely not the case and neither are all the challenges we have mentally and physically with dealing with Covid.

I don’t know where to put this, but why does this fool keep getting acting jobs? He can’t act his way out of a paper sack. And he sucks.
Justin Timberlake 🤮 starring in new movie.

Lord this speaks to my soul. A couple of those quotes (especially the surgeon) were appalling. This one had me raging: “indicates that during the school year, girls ages 15 to 17 average about 4.4 hours of housework a week, compared with 2.8 hours for boys. “This is despite the fact that boys and girls tend to have similar time constraints..”
