Has anyone read Oona Out of Order? Do the logistics of her time hopping ever make sense?? I’m so confused!

It could be an audiobook issue. Or maybe it all comes together in the end. I’m interested enough to keep going I just have a lot of questions and I’m not sure if I missed something or if the explanation is coming later.

I didn't have any trouble "getting" the time jumps but my friend who also read it just couldn't wrap her head around it. It made sense in my head, lol. I read the ebook though. I do hope there will be another book because I want more of the years.

Is it the chronological Oona she’s hearing from? The one who is ahead of/behind her in her order? I’m not picking it up 😂 ETA— and how does her mom know what order she’s in?

I'm sure I won't explain it well since I couldn't help my friend get it 😂 But there are some cases where the version of Oona would be much older than the chronological version of herself that she is in, so she will have lived this jumping around and know what's going on. She's relatively young through the book so she doesn't really know what's going on yet. I can't remember exact years in the book but for example say she is 21 chronologically but is her 45 year old self. So even though she seems young she knows what has been happening because it's been going on for almost 30 years. And so the 21 year old version could tell her mom what is happening. As she gets older she is leaving notes for herself since the next year she's be younger chronologically. So 21 year old Oona (who is 45) may leave a note for 22 year old Oona because 22 year old Oona might only be 26 or something. 21 year old Oona would already know what happened to 22 year old Oona because she already lived it. Does that make any sense? 😂 in my.mind it makes sense but it's hard to explain!

*puts Oona book on do not read list* Its a really interesting concept that I think needs to be read in print.

The year before writes it. Mom knows based on year? It was tough but I ended up liking it

I finished The Woman in the Window. I solid 4 stars! I really enjoyed it. Now onto book #14 for the year, crushing my reading goals. I am torn between starting The Wives, The Vanishing Half or All the Bright Places.

I finished The Hunting Party. It was ok but not great. It’s by the same author as The Guest List and it has a very similar story - old friends gather for an event at an isolated location, everyone has secrets, someone ends up dead. But it wasn’t as deftly done. She is great at creating a setting, though.
I’m going to The Perfect Marriage next.

Do y’all follow The Perfect Marriage author on tik tok/Instagram? Thrillers are not my thing on a regular basis but I find her hilarious.

I’ll have to take your word for it 😂 😂😂😂 this is why I'm not a teacher I really think that it’s the audio. I’m going to go listen to a few chapters in B&N tomorrow and see if it helps. If it does I’ll get the hard copy to finish.

I really loved her book but thrillers are totally my style. ETA: Wait! I do remember seeing a few things on IG where she was defending her husband because people thought he was a killer or some shit. I think that was her.

I really loved her book but thrillers are totally my style. She went viral on tik tok a few weeks ago because she did a post telling the plot of her book, but didn’t say it was a fiction book until the end and the comments blew up about her staying married to and defending a murderer. And now they do a lot of videos where he “murders” her and I guess some people still aren’t in on the joke.

Does the audio tell you at the beginning of the chapter what ages she is? only if you are looking at the headings. It doesn’t say it out loud. That would be helpful.

Maybe that's where I heard about the book and decided to read it?

I need to follow her.

Only 5 ebooks, which is what I mostly read. My 7 year old has a library card and I'm considering setting up her Overdrive so I can put more holds and check out more ebooks 😂

Definitely part of the confusion. Each new chapter I read the heading and it took me a good couple minutes to analyze. I enjoyed it but got too into my own head to analyze how it was possible.
