This is more of a wellness thing but I feel like it is relevant in a way. I haven't taken really any time off since coming back from maternity leave the first week of August. At first because I had to build up PTO again and then because it felt sort of pointless to take time off when I'm always home and not going anywhere. I also felt like I had to give it time from being off for so long since I was paranoid about what people would think if I took more "vacation" (since mat leave is so not vacation).
Anyway. I've decided to take two consecutive days off in March just to do my own thing and relax. Even during these times we need days for that.

I did a weird order of workouts this morning as I just kept adding things on until I needed to go upstairs. 15 minutes arms and shoulders with Adrian 5 minute core with RK 5 minute arms toning with Hannah 10 minute full body stretch with Matty I've decided that I'm going to take a least a week off of running/walking on the treadmill. Every time I have run lately my ankle is a little sore afterwards. Not too painful, but enough to notice. I think it started with the increased speeds on the tread with my old shoes. I never gave my ankle a chance to heal up since getting the new shoes and thought it would magically go away. Spoiler alert, it has not. Rather than continuing to push it, I'm going to give it a break and see how it feels next weekend. I'm going to use the time to try out some other classes and get more stretching in. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only a week for now, and if I don't let it rest I'll be out much longer than that. Was that the most recent RK core with the sparkly pants? I loved her pants, didn’t like the workout. It was the one from yesterday. I had two kids running around me at the time, so I couldn't have told you what she was wearing or even really remember what we did.

willow - I stockpiled a lot of PTO last year because I was preparing for what I thought would be an eventual quarantine with my kids and didn't take off the time to relax. Thankfully we never had to deal with a quarantine for the kids in 2020, but I wish I had done better at taking time off. Enjoy the time off when it comes!

My treadmill is assembled and waiting for me. Planning on a bootcamp after work. Can't wait!

Yes, willow! You need that time for yourself! I have 15 days of PTO that will disappear in June. I need to schedule some time off for myself.

I don’t care for coffee or PB, but don’t anyone dare take away my chocolate!
The stacking feature on Peloton has made it much easier for me to keep going with strength or stretching after biking because once I add it to my stack, I’m committed to finishing.
Today was 15 min pop ride, 10 min elliptical and then 10 body weight strength. Just like that 35 minutes.

Hi, all. I haven't been in here, and I haven't been an active participant at all, but I have been love titting occasionally and I hope everyone is staying motivated.

I can at least relate to the peanut butter conversation. Vans blueberry waffles toasted with PB have been a breakfast, lunch and/or dinner for me many days in the last several weeks, lol.

Hello! I’ve been MIA for a few days. Covid shot 2 did me in, then all 3 kids were hit with a cold (Covid negative thankfully!) so I couldn’t get it together to work out. But in good news, I FINALLY found 10 and 15 Lb weights in stock!
Jumped back in with a 45 min Jess Sims Full Body Bootcamp. Will be feeling this tomorrow I think 😂
Now back to catch up on eleventy pages.

+1 for taking almost no time off last year, I ended up carrying over 5 days and losing 6 that could carry. This year I’m going to take time off because the burnout was real. willow you deserve time off so good for you for booking it

Tips for my knee bothering me when spinning? It feels like clicking and a dull ache. Low impact rides/ avoiding too much standing for awhile. Make sure your seat isn’t set too low. It should be at hip height. A lot of people tend to ride regular bikes a little low, so it may feel high. Make sure the seat isn’t set too far back or forward as well. Ride with enough resistance. You always want to “feel the ground beneath you.” You shouldn’t be bouncing as you increase your cadence. (Also going super heavy all the time is a bad idea.) Make sure you are cycling with flat feet, and knees straight, not bowed out. You don’t want your toes pointing down. I don’t remember if you have a peloton, but if you don’t, (I don’t) you may want to switch the pedals out for ones you can clip into, if you haven’t already. That helps with form.

I went to target today to pick up a couple of things and wound up with a pair of 10 lbs weights and a pair of 15 lbs weights. I’m looking forward to lifting a bit heavier.

I can only eat PB by itself. Not in chocolate, cookies or anything like that that. Can’t eat any at home, but I have a jar of it at my work that I eat every now and then. I am finding out that it gives me bad heartburn. Of course it does. 😏

If you haven’t done a JKE ride then what are you waiting for? Her rides are so much fun. The music, the energy, just the whole experience.
I did that for 30 mins followed by a 5 min cool down and a 5 min stretch.

It was so cold today. I could not handle running outside. It means I’ll fall short of 100mi this month, but it’s ok. I did a climb ride instead, a glutes and quads strength session, and a pigeon pose focused flow.
I made a cauliflower crust pizza with homemade sauce, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and cashew ricotta for dinner— so good!

I love peanut butter, there are many stretches where I eat that with toast every morning. My youngest son was diagnosed with a peanut allergy (and eggs and milk) at 6 months old and I nursed him until his first birthday. That was a dark 6 months without PB, eggs, and cheese.

I was going to suggest starting with looking at the seat height. I set mine initially and I was good, and then mid-late December I noticed my knees were bugging me and I realized the seat had lowered by like 5 notches (most definitely my kids playing with it). I readjusted and it's felt great since.

I did a 35 minute walk in 3 degree temps today. It was sunny and not windy, so bundled up it wasn't too bad. This week has been so busy that after school I decided to just snuggle with the boys on the couch instead of doing any more exercising and I don't regret it.
The scale was down a bit this morning and I wore a pair of jeans I bought in early summer and were a little too tight then, so that felt good. Also, I took and printed new pictures of my classroom staff for students to practice with identification and the difference between my photo now and my photo from a year and a half ago is crazy. My face is so much thinner and I do think I look younger. It was a good ego boost!

I ordered it when we were frequenting a nut-free place but now I just eat it because I love it. I’m not even allergic to peanuts- just almonds- but I choose granola butter over peanut butter almost every day.

As much as I love coffee, I'd definitely choose PB. It is just more versatile and I use it all the time. Sandwiches, smoothies, soups, curries. Ugh that would be a huge loss.
I opted for cocaine hippos to break in my tread instead of a bootcamp. It was so fun to see Matty and get the full story telling experience. Bootcamp tomorrow!

Ran into some friends from DS2's preschool today, and the dad was like, SCARY skinny. I actually thought he might be sick so I didn't say anything about it, until the mom noticed my Peloton sweatshirt (I am such a sucker for the apparel, it's awful), and she was like "Oh, you too? He's totally obsessed with ours." !!!!
So we are following each other now, but I can NEVER ride with him because he's putting up like, 450 kcal for 30 minute rides. WTF.
Also worth noting that I have been riding and doing yoga and strength consistently for nine months now and have lost ZERO pounds. I mean, I'm not trying to lose weight, I'm ok where I am and I eat healthy and don't work too hard at it, but come on, we can be annoyed by men who make a little change and drop a ton of weight, right? I feel like I'm allowed to be annoyed about that.
Anyway tonight's stack was 20 minute Latin ride of Jess King's, 20 minute climb ride with Denis, 10 minute arms with Hannah C, and 10 minute floor pose yoga with Ross.

CurlieWhirlie MH jokes that when he needs to lose a few pounds he’ll just skip lunch a couple of days. And the stupid thing is that he’s right. It’s so easy for him to lose weight it is crazy. Men. Sounds like that dad’s weight loss might not have been such a good thing though. That’s a crazy output for that length of ride, but I have a male friend who has similar numbers. Though my friend is an adventure sport type who is a bigger guy so I think that’s why. I ignore his numbers though bc they’re so insane. I could never.

Morning.
My body feels pretty good this morning despite staying up late snacking and drinking hard cider last night.
30 minute Lizzo run with Jess Sims (3.25 miles) 20 minute postnatal yoga with Kristin
Food should be decent, but I don't expect it'll be perfect by any means.

I ended up taking yesterday completely off. I was so sore from lifting on Wednesday that I am nervous for my 10 mile run today. But hopefully it goes ok.
We got some horrible news at work yesterday and I have been dealing with that. I am emotional spent. I am hoping to get my run in and lift tonight. I ate like absolutely crap yesterday and woke up swollen and puffy.

Morning! Didn't get to post yesterday. Workout was 20 min arms/shoulders with Robin, 10 more min of arms with Matty, and 10 core with Sims. Food was breakfast sandwich, leftover cheeseburger casserole, and then things went off the rails. I went to meet a friend for a beer at a brewery and ended up having 3. Since I have not been drinking as much, 3 heavy high alcohol beers have made me feel so gross today, ugh. Also since I was home late we just made a frozen pizza which wasn't a great food choice either. But I am not going to beat myself up about it and get back on track today. In the past I would've said screw it for the whole weekend, probably, so progress!
Today: B - English muffin + turkey sausage and fruit L - not sure, but something low point D - hopefully takeout S - maybe a seltzer but I'm not drinking like I did last night!
I'm going to do one of the 45 min bike boot camps with Jess here at some point this morning and probably 10 more min of core.
