Do you want to post it here? I like math questions. Haha, thank you. I am capable of doing first grade math, it is just written poorly. The teacher has "office hours" this afternoon so H and I will ask her together. Bonus: H gets to see me asking for help when I don't understand! The paper printed incorrectly, so her = and + signs were in red, and didn't print at all. So it looked like this Jack thinks this is correct, is it? Show how. 3 + 5 2 6 It was meant to say 3 + 5 = 2 +6

My child just went up a ski lift alone. Hold me. On purpose? R accidentally went up by herself one time when she was skiing with Steve. Luckily, they had already been up a lift that day so she knew the procedure, but it was definitely unnerving for S the whole way 😬

I didn't let F nap yesterday because it's been screwing with his night sleep and he's only been sleeping for like 8-9 hours at night. He had a fit then was fine, then slept for THIRTEEN HOURS. How does removing an hour long nap compute to that? lol

I just put a deposit on a 2020 Chevy Bolt! I still want to do one more test drive (at least), but I like this particular car and trim (and it's a really, really good deal), so I don't want it to disappear. I am super excited to be getting an all-electric car. Hopefully insurance won't be insane. This would be the newest car that I've ever owned.

C's been hitting at home a lot recently (mainly his sister, but us too), and yesterday we got an email from his teacher that he's been aggressive at this week at preschool too. We'd been planning to mention it to her, but we're still upset he's doing it at school, too. He's been not eating as much recently, too, not sure if it's related. At least he's physically smaller than the other kids so it probably doesn't hurt as much? Ugh.
On a related note, it's so hard not to laugh when he says "hi-yah!" every time he tries to hit someone. So hard.

I am super excited to be getting an all-electric car. Hopefully insurance won't be insane. This would be the newest car that I've ever owned. Which others did you test drive? We're planning to get an electric car to replace my husband's in a year or two. I test drove the Kona, the Leaf and the Bolt, which all get over 200 miles to a charge. The advantage to the Kona was the ground clearance (Vermont winters), but everything else about it was tiny. You can't put an adult in the backseat for more than a few minutes and my hair was touching the ceiling. The leaf was the roomiest of them all and that alone almost put it at the top. But there wasn't a lot of movement room for my legs while driving (I shift around a lot). The Bolt had the best camera system by a very long shot. The rearview mirror can be switched between normal and a camera so that you don't have any interior obstructions to your view. When you're backing up it also gives a 360 overview shot of your car - which I think is from 6 (or so) camera shots being stitched together (I took a picture and I'll post it in the next post). With the rear seats folded down it has the most storage space of all three (more than the Honda Fit). The Bolt also has the best regenerative breaking (where magnets slow down the car and reverse the spin of the motor to charge the battery). The regenerative breaking is awesome and I love it. The best thing about the Bolt is that while it no longer gets the $7500 US federal tax credit (the other two do), because this particular car been on the lot for a while, it's actually more than $10K cheaper than the Leaf (and something like $14K under sticker). The narrowness of the Bolt seats give me some hip pain, but I think that I have a solution to that (which is why I want to test drive it again). I also need to figure out the charger (our electric company gives them away, but I don't know how long it would take to get it).

I'm going to attempt to rotisserie a chicken tonight. I've only ever cooked a whole chicken once before in my life. This should be interesting.

I poked it about a million times with the meat thermometer when the timer went off, and gave it an extra 10 minutes when one of the readings was low. But it was cooked! And juicy! If I do it again, I'm going to have to watch a video about mounting it onto the bar and setting the forks, because that part was way harder than I thought it would be.

It's a bluetooth probe meat thermometer. We've used it for roasted chicken, beef tenderloin and ham. It has cut down on dried chicken legs. And I am really excited to use it on a Turkey. It also lets you time side dishes because it gives you an ETA and tells you it has rested.

Are all 4 year olds clumsy?! Every since L turned 4 it feels like he's constantly stubbing his toe, stepping on Lego, biting his tongue, or whacking his limbs on things. And the corresponding "owwwwwww!!!" is so obnoxious 😬

I think it's a combination of growth spurts and just being bigger and moving faster and being distracted, and also the extra dramatic streak that comes at 4 and 5. Last night she barrelled into bed and whacked her leg and then howled and cried. Her MO for most bumps is big drama for like a minute and then forgetting it ever happened.

M has finally taken to zoom classes and is taking multiple dance classes a week (a local place had a great membership option, so essentially no commitment). Its so great because it gets her moving but isn't youtube - where she always gives up and then just watches. And its all different types each time but often the same teacher.
We seriously may never go back to real life.

M's teacher just emailed us to say how well she's been doing in class. Our parent-teacher conference is coming up, but she wanted to send out a separate email. That brings me so much joy, because the pandemic has been very emotionally difficult for M and I felt very confident that it had to be bubbling over into her school life. But it seems like it hasn't, which is amazing.

I do have sympathy but these extreme reactions over minor things have me gritting my teeth sometimes.

It's snowing, and the kids took so long to put their shoes and coats on that they missed the bus 🤦 Good thing it didn't have an early client visit today because I'm still in pjs. Gotta get all the things ready for the pet sitter to stay overnight and all our ski gear packed up.
Busy busy day!

Anyone else tonight? lol I went to bed early (well, 10pm which is early for me recently) and had bizarro dreams. Including one whereIi had a big family my parents (who were not my actual parents) invited the whole family out to dinner and then announced we were going to be on a reality show. Like the duggars but not? And my dream dad was wearing swim trunks that were way too loose, like danger of exposure loose.

Ugh, I am so frustrated at M's day care. They've always been a bit more lax about the covid rules then makes me comfortable. But they have been ok. I just got the February Vacation Camp registration (for the week that school is closed) and they're taking an effing field trip to our favorite children's museum that we haven't been to since before COVID because it's not safe. They said that they're taking all the state required precautions to keep it safe, but wtf? That is SO unnecessary. And it turns out that that very children's museum is closed this week because a visitor tested positive. I'm assuming that everyone who visited that day is being required to quarantine (VT makes businesses keep track of these things for this very reason). I've written to them asking them to reconsider the trip. We're not registering her for that day, but even so that is extra risk that we don't need to expose this group of kids to. And geez, this children's museum is 45 minutes away. The van ride alone is a risk. If they go forward with the field trip, M is going to be so bummed about not being able to go (because 100% they're going to be talking it up to all the kids before the actual day). Ugh.

mapleme that is beyond frustrating. That also means you need to keep her out at least a week after the trip as a precaution. I've got to register the kids for summer camp soon and I'm twitching just thinking about it. I would love to take them places, but our neighbor went to a trampoline place last Monday and she warmed me after that she wouldnt be back again. There were parents not requiring kids to wear masks. 😳

So on one hand, yes the distance in a van seems like a bad idea for sure.
On the other...we went to our local childrens museum a few times in the last few months and it was feeling mostly safer than during non covid times. Severely limited guests. Any chance they will be the only ones there? This was one family allowed per area, and it was so nice.
But then Ps day care cant take field trips...to the woods...because they arent allowed to put them all in wagons close together to get the block down the street and there.
