addymac ❤️ Your parents are refusing to get the vaccine?? With the air travel they do and not being able to see you guys? 😖 RIGHT?!?!?! THANK YOU. 😤 My mom doesn’t trust it bc it’s “too fast”. Every thing I send about the vaccine she responds with a negative vaccine thing. Also my dads hematologist told my dad he should get the vaccine but said my mom shouldn’t since her body has such severe allergic reactions to allergens she has. And my DH is livid bc the doctor isn’t even HER doctor and shouldn’t be giving medical advice like that to her. And she is in so many high risk groups, allergies to her random shit - NOT ANY VACCINE EVER- shouldn’t stop her from getting it. It’s all very frustrating and rant worthy.

We anticipate starting January 5th. Fx!! Not that I'm getting it anytime soon. Jan 5th? Why so late? It's so hard when you know technically the EU countries could have also started sooner but at least it's happening. My assumption is that it is because we are a smaller, poorer country. We have agreements with Pfizer, Moderna and J&j so I'm just hoping once we get started we will be able to move quickly.

I just assumed that all the EU countries were getting it at the same time since there seem to be some rules in place that everyone gets some no matter how much money they're putting in.

I feel like I might cry in my car after getting my vaccine, whenever that will be. It will just feel like such a relief. I have never cried after a vaccine before but I suppose living through the time in which the virus was/is so dangerous makes it feel different. And also makes me appreciate all the vaccines I took advantage of before.

So my grandma is going to be in the rehab facility for like 6 more weeks 😭 but she’s supposed to get the first dose of her covid vaccine next week. I cried happy tears! That is such a relief. She is still being transported for dialysis 3x per week so my grandpa goes and gets to say hi as she is brought in and out 💔❤️ I’ll try to release this now. Oh my god that is so heartwarming and heartbreaking 😭😭😭😭 timing it so he can see her as she is going from car to dialysis building and then waiting for her to leave the building back to the car?? I’m literally crying right now. 💜💜💜💜 You and me both ❤️

I feel bad for smaller countries like Korea that has done all the right things to keep COVID under control but are way at the back of the line for the vaccine. That is really unfair. When is it expected in Korea?

When is it expected in Korea? It sounds like they weren’t able to get in with the big/first three so they’re waiting for ones that are still under trial, including ones being developed in Korea. My dad thought maybe not until summer or later?

My dad thought maybe not until summer or later? It sounds like the government felt some pressure and bumped up timelines and orders so that the vaccine should be available as soon as February. This is the information I found, so that's good news for your parents! www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-southkorea-vaccine-idUSKBN28X2TL...The Pfizer and Janssen deals are part of a government plan to buy enough doses from four drugmakers and the global COVAX initiative, backed by the World Health Organization, that will allow immunisation of at least 85% of South Korea's population of 52 million. The government had already signed a deal with AstraZeneca Plc, which will be shipped as early as January next year, and is in final talks with Moderna Inc to sign a deal in January to secure 20 million doses. Health authorities will start a public vaccination programme as early as February next year, which will be completed around November, before the start of the flu season, Yang Dong-gyo, a senior official at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), told a briefing. The government had allocated an additional 1.3 trillion won ($1.2 billion) to next year’s budget for vaccines...

My mom told me tonight that my idiot trumper brother who works at the largest hospital in our state (in security) turned down the vaccine because trump didn't get it.

So SIL who was pushing for in person holiday, ended up postponing because she wasn’t feeling well. So not only no us being there last night, but no one, and she had to cancel/postpone on her family today as well. She took a rapid test, it was negative, but she doesn’t trust it. I’m glad we didn’t plan on going to do more than drop off gifts, because the boys didn’t know anything was moved.
We were able to continue on as planned with a zoom version with both sets of grands and my sis and BIL. We set up 2 devices, so they could see and there wouldn’t be fighting over “camera” time. Oddly, my mom was the first anxious one this morning - she didn’t know we gave the boys a time to stay in bed until AND they listened. It dawned on me that this is the first Christmas that DS4 understood what was going on today. My baby.

Thankfully our tests were negative! On Monday we'll call the health department and figure out whether or not we're still officially in quarantine. Not that we'll be seeing people, but I'd like to get out for a walk and the kids want to rollerblade.

Baby Blurnette has a fever and has had diarrhea all day. I'm calling our health line and expect that we will be taking her for testing in the next day or so. Sigh.

H’s cousin is in the hospital with COVID. He’s in his 30s. 😳 He’s conscious and receiving oxygen, that’s all I know. I told H at least he’s able to get treatment where he needs it. He and his fiancé moved to our area a few years ago and we still have some hospital capacity here. If they’d stayed in their hometown south of here, well there are 0 beds available right now in that region. Fuck man. I think he’ll be ok but the worry right now sucks. 😢 And they’ve been WAH and being careful. It’s so unfair.

I need to vent to you all because you will understand. My cousins flew to Scottsdale yesterday or today and I am just so disappointed in them. I realize I have no control over other people and I need to release it, and I will...but why are people who should be smart, being so reckless? Even outside of the self preservation part, and even if they tested right before leaving or whatever, it just seems so selfish to me. It also angers me because I have spent months doing the right things and being careful and being cooped up with tiny children and it feels pointless when so many are being stupid.
I won’t stop doing what I’m doing of course because I’m terrified of the risks. But these are the first people in my close group of family/friends that I have seen do something so stupid and without regard for others safety. I just really find no excuse for traveling right now unless you have to for work or emergency. I am ok on this hill.

My dad talked his (much younger) paramedic partner into getting the vaccine. I think this has a great deal to do with it also.

easier I hope he has access to some good therapies and recovers quickly. I finally got my Covid vaccine today. There was a delay d/to the snow we got on Wednesday. Hopefully our hospital gets more doses to quickly get all staff vaccinated.
