And even if I'm WFH and I don't have adequate things to do, I have to take sick time so even WFH doesn't prevent me using up my sick time. You said yourself you have two full weeks of sick time. If not for this, what are you waiting to use it for?

If not for this, what are you waiting to use it for? For if I need a test and need to quarantine or if DD or our household continues to get multiple viruses. Or if my mom or her household gets sick and DD had to stay home. I'm also taking sick time next week for DDs flu shot. I have 8 days. Tests here are taking 3 to 5 days to get back. I use most of my sick time in normal times.

Idk, I talked about my head cold a few weeks ago and no one was telling me I needed a Covid test. It’s just not plausible with every single sniffle and some states won’t test you at all if you’re not severe. Blame that shit on the government. I didn’t quarantine, but I stayed home until it passed. Which was 2 days. I definitely got it from DS when he started preschool. And he only had a runny nose for a day. 🤷🏼♀️ We had a whole thread and nobody went this hard. I don’t know what her symptoms are, but her daughter just tested negative for covid I thought?

They didn't do the brain probe from DS when he was tested, just the cheek swab.

But every school and workplace have protocols so it's not like it's really up to individuals to decide (unless you are actively trying to conceal symptoms). I can't send my kid to preschool with a COVID symptom period. Stuffy/runny nose by itself is not on the list of symptoms, thankfully, because he's been waking up stuffy for 6 months. He wouldn't need to isolate for 10 days but he does need a doctor's note or a negative test to return. I have to pay $160 out of pocket for every office visit - it would suck. We can be frustrated and complain about it (and I would be even more frustrated if he had to be out for 10 days, and also what about this pandemic doesn't absolutely suck?) but those are the rules and there's nothing I can do about it (but vent). greenolive said she's nervous her workplace would find out she has cold symptoms and make her stay home, so it sounded like it would be the opposite of giving her shit. Like I said, I'm not talking to Olive's specific circumstance. It sounds like she could have her mom come and wait a couple days to see what happens. I'm talking in general. I'm not arguing with protocols, just discussing the reality for people who may be in a place where testing isn't available, offices aren't as understanding, etc. Reducing that to people just not caring about killing people isn't helpful. I also acknowledge that health care workers are at their brink and are rightfully frustrated. All these things can be true. And I feel like people are/would be sympathetic to those shitty situations, of not being able to get tested even if they wanted to, their workplace being shitty about it, etc. etc. "I hope you don't kill anyone" may have been over the top but I don't think she would have said that to someone who said "I have cold symptoms and I want to stay home just in case but I don't have PTO/my office is being really shitty about it so I have to go in and it sucks". That's not what happened.

Well, my 7 year old needs braces. But we have insurance coverage! I am very jealous of the latter! My newly 7 yo went to the orthodontist last week and it was bad, so she already has her spacers in getting ready for the whole shebang in a couple of weeks. No orthodontic coverage though *sob* Yikes. I hope she does ok with them! I didn’t know we had orthodontic coverage until I checked last week.

thatgolfb I get that it can be the truth but I feel like we could say the same to others on this board with behaviors they’ve exhibited and we haven’t. Considering how many times I have seen that people hosting weddings are selfish while planning to host a small wedding myself next month I would say yes it has been

No we've never been tested. This is our first virus in a long time. DD had mild cold symptoms Saturday and they were gone by bed time Saturday evening. I had a scratchy throat last night which is gone and this morning very mild congestion. DH had a scratchy throat this morning and told his work who didn't care. My work does a screening and a temp check which I passed. I can isolate at my office and will continue to distance, wear a mask, and double down on the hand cleaning even more than before.

And believe me, I have a lot of thoughts about the health care situation we are in as a country. It fucking sucks. But not getting tested and potentially just remaining naive that you are positive for covid (not saying GO is positive, but we don't know that she isn't), while being in buildings with people you don't live with, does not help the situation.

I really didn't find the test that bad. But I have had sinus surgery and thus am very used to shut being shoved up my nose further than god intended. I said “no ones ever touched me there before” and I could see the nurse’s eyes bug out like did she really just make that joke I’m a work in progress I just got a pvc pipe and had to lay it on the floor to pay because it’s so big and awkward. A guy tripped on it while walking by and come back to move it for me and I’m like “omg I’m sorry it’s so long!” and he started smiling really hard and looking me up and down which made it awkward.

It's such a weird feeling to be scared of people knowing i have a cold. I'm terrified my employer will make me quarantine or get a test and quarantine til results. This was the OP. greenolive, if you are ruminating on this, it kind of seems like you know you should be getting tested, or that your employer would want you to? That's how I read it.

Today is the day I will say goodbye to my 17 year old dog. I’ve had him since he was a tiny puppy, and I hardly remember life without him. I am currently snuggling with him and pulling out old pics instead of working. I’m so sorry. You gave him the best life.

Spacers have gone ok, just a little advil the first couple of days. Our teenage neighbor goes to the same place so at least my DD thinks getting braces is the coolest so far.

That's not what happened. Exactly. She is refusing to acknowledge that covid may be the cause her cold and does not seem to care if it is. If she said that she tried to stay home to be just to be on the safe side but her work wouldn’t let her, I would not have commented a single word. It is the apparent lack of care or concern that she may have Covid and the going on the interwebs and specifically bringing up the fact that she is going to work sick that gets me a little kerfuffled. Overall, I have given up and everyone should do what everyone wants to do and I will just continue my retreat from society.

My ED is highly terrified and even asks us to spray down the toilets after use. Before she developed the screening a coworker had to 2 weeks quarantine because their spouses coworkers wife was positive. I am nervous she would ask me to but I am unsure. I didn't lie on the screening. If I was asked I would not lie. But I'm taking precautions as we have been instructed to already. I don't come in contact with coworkers at my job. She has it that we do not which is great.
