At least her mom is aware of the situation and not completely unsuspecting like the coworkers are. Did she say that she told her mom? yes and she is fine with watching her. Although I am sure it was like she is saying here with we have had a mild cold over the weekend.
But this is what prompted the WTF then the excuse that you can't WFH with a 2 year old is not a legit excuse

i bought an ear thermometer for this reason. i know rectal is the "most accurate" (at least i've heard this) but i have never taken a rectal temp on either of my kids. i think one had to get one at the drs once but i blacked it out. i can tell in a yes/no way whether a kid has a fever, but the ear thermometer helped me guage whether it was a regular temp or a scary temp. I've always done it rectally but with a new baby plus COVID it might be worthwhile to invest in an ear thermometer. I’d suggest a temporal in that case, since the ear ones done work on babies until they’re like 6 months ish?

Its not ideal and not a choice I would make but its between 2 consenting adults and I do feel slightly less bothered by that than the building full of peoplr unaware. FWIW in my earlier response where I mentioned still utilizing her mom and WFH, I did not remember her mom being high risk.

FFMC- I continued with rectal Temps on my kids well into toddlerhood because I couldn't bring myself to trust the ear thermometer. But I also have a thermometer that sticks on under their armpit and sends the temp via Bluetooth to my phone throughout the day/night and sets off an alarm when it goes over a preset temp that I use when they are sick. I may be a little extra about fevers. My kids tend to go 0-100 in no time at all with fevers so I get nervous at the slightest of fever. If its 99 its will be 103 within the hour most of the time.

I got too excited about being on vacation last night and am a wee bit hungover this morning. Get thee a greasy breakfast stat! Where are you on vacation? No greasy breakfast unfortunately. I rented a house on a river for a week because I needed a change of scenery.

Today is the day I will say goodbye to my 17 year old dog. I’ve had him since he was a tiny puppy, and I hardly remember life without him. I am currently snuggling with him and pulling out old pics instead of working. I'm so sorry.

I have an appointment with my sleep doctor and I’m nervous. I have sleep apnea and two years ago I lost enough weight that I could safely ditch my cpap with my doctor’s permission. I did but now I’ve gained enough weight back that I need it again. I convinced myself that I would just lose the weight and be fine. But I didn’t. And it’s a little of a catch 22 because I can’t really lose weight when I’m not getting good sleep. Anyways, I feel dumb and like a failure. So hopefully getting my cpap back is not too hard and I swear I’m not letting go of it this time even if I lose weight (which is what my PCP told me). Hi fellow sleep apnea friend! You are not a failure. I have to use a CPAP, and it makes functioning so much easier. Going back on it is not bad, it is just going to help you feel human again. I felt bad when I was first diagnosed, but I feel so much better with it that I don’t care anymore. It helps me be healthier in general (and obviously in sleep!). Plus my dad also has it, and he lost 200lbs and still needs his. So weight is not the only factor. Get you some good sleep Yeah, my doctor pretty much said losing weight might help but not enough to get rid of the machine. But then when I did lose weight I started having issues with my machine. Basically my mouth would open and air would start coming out and H complained that it was as loud as snoring. So then I started sleeping without it and he said I wasn’t snoring anymore. So I talked to my doctor and we redid my sleep study. Then he said it was actually mild and as long as I slept on my side, I could go without the cpap. It worked until it didn’t. Ugh. I should have just kept it in case, but, as you know, it can be kind of pricey. Lesson learned. I do think regardless of weight things are just crowded in that part of my body. I have a small airway and a slightly enlarged thyroid, so I just need help. Plus while I’m very good at starting to sleep on my side, I don’t always stay that way.

Also, aren't covid tests and such supposed to be covered by the CARES money so no charge to the patient? We had to pay for my son’s covid test at the children’s hospital. Insurance covered some and we were out of pocket $20ish. I was surprised and thought it was supposed to be free but they said it’s only specific test sites for a limited number of people.

Ugh this is my oldest. He never has a 100.5 fever, it's always 104. Comes out of nowhere, and triggers an asthma attack. I chose the virtual school option so fast.

The poor dog gets my pillow on top of her sometimes because she sleeps in her bed next to my bed and I knock it off onto her.

It’s the 20th anniversary of Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory. I’m gonna hunt up some headphones and listen while I clean my house. Such a good album! I never got to see them in concert. 😢

When I posted about symptoms that my state (with a very good respite the pandemic) deems test worthy many many people thought he was nuts and over the top and diminished it to the sniffles when it was more than that. So it’s not just olive. Some said test to make him happy, but even though my state thinks it was test worthy dh was dragged. So.

Wearing an N95 in the house with you when he had already been in the house with you was what was WTF'ed, along with the rest of how he was treating you. I'm noting a pattern of overreaction with him.

greenolive I'm sorry you guys aren't feeling well, and I get it. We paid over $1k for covid tests when my H had it, and we've had to quarantine twice for 14 days. In the beginning, I was sick but didn't qualify for a test. Then months later my H had it. Work made it difficult for me both times. It shouldn't be that way for people. We shouldn't have to decide between debt and our jobs and the health of others. (I'm not saying what she is doing is right and I agree with her, but I understand the struggle.)

I am sorry you've had to deal with that. I don't know your financial situation (but I have to assume its not as good as before the pandemic like everyone else) but 1k would be completely unfathomable for us for testing. 50 for each person would be 150 and honestly that itself would really kill us.
