Wild Saturday night here, DH is on a work call and I have 34 IEP’s to read. We did find a 6 week soccer program for T, I haven’t told him just in case it gets canceled but his 3 best friends are signed up.

inthekitty I'm raging about how awful the fires are and scared for the future. How is FEMA not all over this? I'm sorry.

inthekitty I'm raging about how awful the fires are and scared for the future. How is FEMA not all over this? I'm sorry. At least here in CA our firemen are use to dealing with the large fires. It’s a yearly occurrence. We have 3 seasons, rainy (4 weeks) Summer, and fire. It’s so sad. I hope that family that did the gender reveal fire gets more then a slap on the wrist.

Our lawn and deck painting projects are both half done, so it's a bit weird here and annoyed they aren't done yet. We had some intense storms Thursday and tons of people had bad flooding - if anyone follows kids eat in color on IG, her car floated away😳 and I think she's pretty close.
Tomorrow we are interviewing two neighborhood ladies as part time sitters, so that should be awkward, since we are clueless. One is here until December living with her grandparents, so I am hoping that means she's pretty cautious about going out. And yesterday was our 10 year anni, we literally did nothing besides watch our rehearsal dinner slideshow, we are just so tired. We may get takeout tomorrow.

inthekitty I'm raging about how awful the fires are and scared for the future. How is FEMA not all over this? I'm sorry. It's infuriating. The entire coast is up in flames and the orange asshole hasn't said a word or done anything. 1 out of 8 Oregonians are displaced from their homes. The pictures of my area look much better than where my mom lives where the air quality ratings are all the way in the extreme danger areas--and that is where people are evacuating to because there's no other option. But do you know what Trumpsters are doing en masse here? Spreading rumors that BLM and antifa activists are arsonists who started the fires. Several non-partisan agencies (FBI) have spoken out stating this is not true. They will never see the shortcomings of Trump and politicize anything. I don't even know what to say at this point. My mom has been volunteering to help and what she's seen is devastating. The winds changed the direction of the fires so quickly people didn't have time to grab a thing so she's been dropping off tons of donations. nam2013 maybe some rain in the mountains tomorrow. 🤞🤞🤞 Snow is unlikely. Even in the mountains it's too early for that here.

Morning. Back at work. It’s been quiet this morning for the most part. I’m planning a nice long nap when I get home later. My allergies are really bugging my eyes so I think that’ll help. inthekitty if I could send you our rain, I would.

Trump is visiting out state tomorrow to asses the problem.🙄 I’m sorry but stay out of the state so resources aren’t pulled to take care of you. Not ok with this no matter who the politician is.

I watched cuties last night so I could be informed when fighting with people about it. It’s actually a pretty good movie.

I'm sorry about the fires inthekitty. Hope y'all get some relief soon. I saw they arrested 4 ppl this weekend who were caught intentionally setting fires. A couple men, a solo guy and a solo woman. Apparently there were witnesses so they weren't hard to track down. Crazy ppl out there...

Morning!
More bathroom work today...I should probably go sand the areas that DH patched yesterday (he removed 2 medicine cabinets and patched the drywall). We've got the outermost bands of a tropical storm passing by so I think we're in for lots of random downpours today.
My cousin came over to eat with us last night, the kids esp. love having him visit. He is so sweet, he always shows up with dessert to thank us. After that our next door neighbors came over to watch a game. I'm glad we're getting to do some of these things before DH leaves.

Question: if you had a chance to let your N13 skip a grade, would you?

Question: if you had a chance to let your N13 skip a grade, would you? No. I skipped a grade and being the youngest in my class by a whole year, sucked. I think I would look at more advanced programs instead.

chrisy01 if I felt Cadence was ready, then yes. But, I wouldn't if it were a transition year, like 5th or 8th where the next grade is at a whole new school.

Question: if you had a chance to let your N13 skip a grade, would you? No, I don’t think so. I’ve read so many educators argue ‘against’ it. Even if they’re academically ready, socially and emotionally they may be behind (less mature, etc) and oftentimes it becomes more evident as they get older. Anecdotally I saw this in high school. ETA: If I felt like my kid needed more challenges academically, I would come at it from that angle to supplement his/her work. But I don’t want them missing out on a year of ‘childhood’ because of it, if that makes sense.

Question: if you had a chance to let your N13 skip a grade, would you? If I did it, I would have done it for K. I wouldn't for any other grade. My view of it is, if your kid is a smarty or mature, by middle school and HS most schools can meet their needs. I was very academically inclined, and even in my small town there were plenty of advanced classes available to me in HS. I was always a year ahead in math and took advanced English. Most students stopped taking science after 10th grade bio but I continued with chem and A&P. They can challenge themselves with foreign languages. I was in TAG in elementary and we didn't do as much there but being an advanced reader allowed me to kind of move ahead at my own level. I think there's a lot more of the social and emotional development piece that gets missed when skipping a grade. Puberty is weird enough as it is and jumping a grade can make you further from the bell curve. Age differences for dating are already tricky (and sometimes cause legal issues) for high schoolers that I don't want there to be a bigger gap. I don't see the point in rushing to adulthood, there's plenty of time for that so if I can give my kids one more year I will. Schools in our area have a running start program for college so they can earn their AA when they graduate HS so no reason to rush even further ahead.

Morning. Ds had a birthday party at an outdoor nature playground. Can’t believe I’ve never been there, it’s a 25 minute bike ride from our house and it looked so fun!
Ds birthday party is in a few weeks and I found a great party favor. I found little linnen satchels with some nature patches for €3,- went to pay and they were one sale for €0,50!!! I’ll throw in a few fabric crayons and some lunch items and they’ll be perfect for our magic forest treasure hunt.

C just told me Coronavirus is made up and not real. I am floored! I said “where did you hear this? It’s very important you tell me!” Clearly there is a crazy conspiracy theory trumper child out there feeding him information. Im disturbed. It’s like he told me he smoked crack.

wedding eek! No C! On another note, my old guy, Denver, is 16. My furry fluffball has been losing hair like crazy lately. Doesn't matter how much I groom him he is losing hair in clumps. He otherwise seems fine. I'm going to make an appointment with the vet. Any thoughts or advice? TIA.

Question: if you had a chance to let your N13 skip a grade, would you? I think I wouldn’t. I’ve seen kids who skipped grades sometimes struggle later on, especially with their emotional development. inthekitty described a lot of my thoughts way more eloquently. Especially with the part of kids having to become adults fast enough, let them play and be kids for a little while longer .
