My kid was sent home the other day from K for a scratchy throat from seasonal allergies. This is exactly what my friends are kvetching about now. Even with a negative test, they still have to wait until symptoms subside and they’re like, “they will be like this all winter!” I’m torn because it sucks and I know it’s just a matter of time before it’s my kid but also, at least we’re taking a hard approach to this? A really crappy side effect to all that is a lack of consistency. So you have kids ordered home on a rolling basis due to who is symptomatic when, then possible rolling closures if an outbreak happens. It's good to have the kids in school as much as possible, but the lack of consistency isn't super ideal. I know everyone is just doing their best and I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make these decisions!

A person in the school district my husband went to tested positive and then didn’t tell the county who they were in contact with and continued to do activities including coach football and church activities. The county is considering taking legal action. This person’s spouse and 4 kids tested positive. The district went remote because 3 students tested positive but who knows if it’s related to that person. This is beyond infuriating. People like this need to be on house arrest.

I was thinking today, by the time we got shut down, God knows what our positivity rate was. At the very least, I’m grateful that NJ/NY/CT governors will go into panic mode at the very sight of us trending upwards. Yes. I want to send my governor an edible arrangement. Same. Guy gives no fucks about being popular and it is so frigging refreshing.

kbw, sad part is a lot of that area is like that. They don’t want the government tracking them, a lot of anti mask anti Cuomo, etc. Most of the posts I’ve seen have been wtf dude why?, so that makes me happy.

What I really can’t wrap my head around is why get tested if you have zero intentions to follow any precautions or cooperate with contact tracing? What’s the point? To let everyone truly know what an asshole you are?

I know there is a lot of variability school to school in NYC- but I'm so impressed with how our public school has handled everything including the ever changing DOE timeline and guidelines. They're really doing a great job with balancing the in person and remote, and unlike this spring, I think my kid is learning online with the new structure. I'm so impressed with them.

Our county is at 5.8% positive. Apparently Murphy is having an emergency meeting with county officials tomorrow. I was thinking today, by the time we got shut down, God knows what our positivity rate was. At the very least, I’m grateful that NJ/NY/CT governors will go into panic mode at the very sight of us trending upwards. Ours was like 30 percent at the height of it (philly burbs)

Their teachers are awesome and everyone is being really supportive and patient with each other and with any tech issues that arise 🤞 I'm feeling very fortunate.

We've had the highest number of new daily cases in months but our positivity rate is below 0.5%.

The Dept of Health updated flow chart to say providers could let kids out of being tested if they have another acute illness or chronic condition. They noted random cold or stomach but we're not included.
One mom in our school keeps arguing that her kids should be exempt from testing because they acquired new seasonal allergies this fall. Sure lady

My kids asthma can flare for a week or two so I'm glad with a note she can go back. But I'll probably still test her bc I can't deal with thinking it might be covid

I’m very impressed with our virtual learning this year! DS’s experience wasn’t too bad in the spring, but this is so much better. Even with the difficulties the school is having fully accommodations g his disabilities, he’s getting a ton out of it.

cribs, I know FM had one of their elementary schools go to distance learning because of the positive tests. I need to pay more attention.

So a local county told their community members to stay home. They said they are getting close to at risk of schools having to be closed if they keep going at the rate they are.

Oh and 1 of our daycare moms put up a Facebook post looking for Halloween costume parties. So that’s great. You’d think she’d be super locked down since her daughter just had a bone marrow transplant 1 year ago. But apparently not.

It would be nice if other ailments would avoid us during this time. DD has a double ear infection. She spiked a fever when she got home from daycare 😫

The town bordering ours I saw one in 4 people being tested are positive. I swear I don’t want to leave my house ever again.
