I saw a story on people yesterday about how the palace aides called Meghan and told her not to wear the H&M necklace she was wearing before they became public because she was asking for the paps to take pictures when she wore them. Also not to look at the camera because then people see her as a gold digger, but not to not look at the cameras sometimes because then they see her as cold and I am just shocked she still agreed to marry him, WOULD NOT WANT Did they tell her where she *could* look? I just... wow... Probably the ground and then when she ran into someone it would be A THING

I bet the BRF has a ton of shadily acquired Romanov jewels that they don’t want to admit to.

The excerpt says they couldn’t use her first choice because they didn’t know where it came from (meaning, possibly it shouldn’t exist in the Queen’s vault? That’s an interesting idea to me). I vaguely remember the unknown provenance thing. I still wonder if it was this one: It seems where the emeralds came from is a bit of a mystery: "The emeralds had originally been inherited by Mary's brother, who left them to his mistress; however, Mary had managed to reacquire them -- though the details of that particular transaction are a bit hazy." www.thecourtjeweller.com/2015/01/tiara-timeline-vladimir-tiara.htmlThis doesn't seem like her style at all. The tiara she did wear has a detachable brooch in the center. Queen Mary loved to swap that stuff out (I am a tiara history whore); maybe there was an emerald piece and that's what she couldn't wear? IDK. There is no way the one above would have been on the table, even for a princess, IMO. That's a queen tiara.

So these shady acquired jewels have to just sit in a vault and can't be worn anywhere? We are being deprived of good sparkle!

That tiara is a lot. I don't see it as Meghan's style at all.

I have zero knowledge and will entertain all shady emerald speculation and historical tiara speculation in general. If I could get a Netflix series that do deep-dives into the history of all the tiaras, it would make for a much happier quarantine.

So normally I’m not one for assuming there is some hidden agenda or lie in a story, BUT if I wanted to make Meghan or Harry look like a spoiled brat for whatever reason, I’d choose something like that tiara- it’s OTT for someone not directly in line to the throne plus it has a shady backstory so it would look bratty to “demand” and then have a fit when it was denied.
I’m *not* saying that’s what happened. Just a thought I had when I saw it and read the story about the tiara tantrum.

My guess on this one is that it’s just the Queen’s and she wouldn’t loan it.

Yeah the Queen wears it more often since the emeralds can be changed out to pearls or rubies or just simply without any dangling jewelry. So I think it's *hers*.

In more rich people preaching about the environment news: William to appear in new documentary chronicling his conservation work The Duke of Cambridge is expected to describe in a new documentary how his mission to give nature a voice has felt even more personal since he became a father. William has been filmed over two years for the ITV programme which has been announced as part of the broadcaster’s new autumn schedule. www.eveningexpress.co.uk/news/uk/william-to-appear-in-new-documentary-chronicling-his-conservation-work/

Even clunkily done, I'll happily take all the voices in the fight. Maybe that's incredibly naive of me, but oh well. If their speaking out even gets just one person to change the course of their carbon footprint, I'm all for it.

She said she wanted her bridal look to be "timeless and modern." This tiara, while gorgeous, isn't exactly modern imho. I don't think it would really go with her dress either. I really want to see a photo of her first choice though!!

I feel like it would look super odd if Kate tried one of Camilla. They really suit her.

I had to go back and look because I was skimming and definitely read that as Isle of Sicily the first time around.

I don't think it is the REASON he fell in love. But, I think it has absolutely had an impact. There's one interview with Meghan where she's saying something to the effect of it's not enough to just be content, you need to thrive. So I think he fell in love with someone who WASN'T in love with the royal family and saw an outside perspective and helped him to think differently. I don't think he needed an excuse to fall in love with Meghan, to be clear.

I don't see Meghan wanting a giant tiara. She's not an idiot and knows how that would look if she went for a huge tiara. I think hers was perfect for her look.

They chose unique and meaningful charities to represent and had (and continue to have, I'm sure) a clear vision. Now I'm just pissed off again they were driven away 😭
