I've been bitching about my kid because he's almost 15 months and you can't take an eye off of him because he regularly tries to either completely bash all of the teeth out of his mouth, eat something that will inevitably kill him, and/or fling himself down stairs, but I feel so much for you guys who have to navigate the school situation. I cannot imagine how I'd feel debating sending him back to school with 20+ kids in a single room. This is such a no win situation for both the parents, the kids, and the staff. Kind, but as a parent with both, the 15 month old is the PROBLEM. Lol. Love that guy but omfg he is a danger to himself and everyone around him.

I just read the police were called around here because there was a gathering of 100 people up in a remote area. They brought generators to supply lights and music. I highly doubt they were 6 feet apart or masked.
I have bad feelings about this weekend across the country. People think they're fine being outside. It would be good to limit gatherings to 10 people or less across the nation. I know that would require a federal effort, so that's not happening.

My cousin’s COVID19 was traced to SC’s senior week at Myrtle Beach. His XW allowed his estranged oldest son to attend because she is a COVID-is-nbd-person. The son then spread it to his siblings, who then spread it to my cousin. 😞 His wife and my elderly Aunt and Uncle are negative, so hopefully he stopped that chain of transmission.

Teaching the 7 year old was challenging for lots reasons, but coexisting with him is not. Coexisting with the 3 year old is a laugh, but also mentally exhausting. Yesterday she snuck a six pack of apple sauce up to my bedroom. I found her on my bed, surrounded by evidence of her crime, chugging an individual applesauce straight from the container. She will definitely be my problem child.

We introduced Gogurt this past weekend and she is addicted. 16 tubes in the box, and there are only like 3 left. Girl ate like a fourth of the box in one day!

They had a similar problem in F'burg, my hometown. My mom was telling me about how they tested positive after beach week, and but it was also right after their socially distant graduation. So now they're having to try to track down everyone who was at graduation.

GDI. I'm really intrigued, but I don't have a WP subscription. If you open the link in an incognito tab you should be able to read it, though sometimes it takes a couple of attempts for it to work. Eta: and I only suggested this because normally they give a couple of free articles a month but it appears they no longer do? Public health crisis people, come on.

So what I'm hearing from everyone here is that it's understandable that I'm exhausted from staying at home all day every day since mid March with a three year old and a 7 month old? Because I am, I truly am and I feel guilty about it because I don't even have to worry about school or anything with my two just yet. I mean, originally the plan was to send the oldest to preschool in the fall but that's definitely not happening now.
I'm still blown away realizing that 2020 is already half over.

elle, I have a 2 year old and a 9 year old. The 9 year old is WAY easier than the 2 year old. Yes, I have to teach my classes and help her at the same time. But OMFG I don't get a break from the 2 year old ever. I feel like during her nap I work and help DD with school work. And everything else, gets pushed aside. Luckily it is the summer now, so her nap time is more chore time, but still rough.

I've had an 11, 8, 5, and 2 year old home since March. The older 3 have all been easier even with school challenges. The 2 year old is a total wild child. Yesterday DD1 asked her if she is a honey badger 😂. I have no idea where she picked that up from because we don't call her that. I told MH and he said it is the perfect description for her so that may be her new nickname.

Luckily it is the summer now, so her nap time is more chore time, but still rough. Things are feeling particularly relentless right now because the baby is cutting her first two teeth so she's incredibly clingy. And my poor 3 year old hasn't played with another child (besides her sister but at 7 months that doesn't really count) in months so she needs a lot of attention and interaction. I miss library outings and moms group playdates and playground time (the latter of which I never thought I'd say, jokes on me).

Ok, I've read the article. Damn, this virus is wrecking havoc. Holy shit.
The thing about megokaryocytes is definitely weird. Explains all the clotting issues that patients are having, and why anti-platelet meds help.
Hopefully the info they learn from autopsies helps the clinical physicians.

My newborn is a lot less work than my 4 year old right now. I never thought I'd say that, but it's true. The pandemic has strained DDs and my relationship to the breakingpoint. She goes back to school on Monday and I will be skipping the fuck away when I leave her.
I got their reopening plan and given the guidelines I have no idea wtf she'll be doing all day with all the restrictions, but honestly I DGAF because it means she'll be doing nothing there and not home with me.
If anyone thinks I'm being harsh, I can send her to your house where she'll sing made up songs from nonstop from 6am until bedtime.

Although this morning my niece and DD1 were upstairs with my laptop and they came downstairs and tried to pitch me on letting DD1 get fish and a fish tank. They found a dozen of goldfish for $3 and a princess castle tank for $8. They even counted DD1's piggy bank to show me she could pay for it. 😂

Our district just sent out an update email that says they're working under the assumption that ALL three models of learning (in-school, distance and hybrid) will be used at one point or another during the school year.
I mean I theoretically knew that was possible but I'm having a hard time processing that.

My governor is holding a press conference right now. Like many states, we are seeing a huge increase in cases for those under 30.
We also had a 27% increase in children cases from last week to today which has me worried.

We also had a 27% increase in children cases from last week to today which has me worried. The numbers are still so low here compared to the rest of the US, but the stats are just making me more committed to staying the eff home. I also appreciate her attempts at acknowledging the "no one wants to be told what to do, but this isn't governance, this is a health response to a health issue," and talking about how patriotic it is to sacrifice for our country and not celebrate this weekend. It's kind of pathetic to have to pander that way but I hope it at least helps sway some of the people who think it isn't a big deal. The fines for no masks I can see being a new point of uproar for the anti maskers here, and not sure how they'll enforce it, honestly. Especially with local law enforcement here having said they'll refuse to do any such thing.

lion yeah all the angry and defiant comments have already started. Our numbers are just getting worse but yes definitely better than most of the country. It's just so infuriating that we were one of the early states to go on full lockdown and here we are months later and not doing any better. If everyone would just listen and follow guidelines for a few weeks we could be in a better place but people are too selfish for that.
