A friend is in from out of town visiting her sisters new baby, sister is also a friend. They're all coming over to visit after lunch. I can't wait to talk face to face with other adults 😂

Morning!
B has a pedi appt this morning to get his shot records, etc transferred so I can enroll him in school. #joysofmoving
After that we need to go do a couple more things at my parents’, and I promised the kids we’d hit the pool while we’re over there. We need to go set up access passes, etc for ours.

Our garage fridge already delivered this morning! It's plugged in and cooling. I sprayed the drinks that still had that horrible smell on them, off, so I need to go clean it out, then start putting stuff in it.
Adulting sucks when this is the excitement for the day.

The school called me yesterday and J didn't get in during the first wave at preschool. They are a head start program and have to have certain numbers of kids who are on iep plans and kids that aren't. I emailed back in December to reserve a spot and apparently that was to late. Theres still hope but only if another parent pulls their kid or forgets to pay the deposit. So I'm crossing my fingers for that..

It is 86 degrees out here... I am not a happy camper. The kids have been in the pool since 11, Dh and I are taking turns entertaining the kids. I’m meeting a group of ex-coworkers around five at a nearby recreational pond. They have a cafe with take out attached, I’m looking forward to seeing them, but dreading the 20 minute bike ride.

nam2013 86 would be a cool front here, lol, but I know what you mean. When it gets that hot in Maine (unusual) it’s kind of miserable bc most homes and businesses don’t have air conditioning. Is AC common where you are? Enjoy your get-together tonight, sounds fun!

Almost no one has AC around here, I’ve never seen a school/daycare with AC and even most offices don’t have it, big chain stores and supermarkets do. It’s also pressing city heat, like the pavement radiates.

Morning. I had a fun time golfing last night. It was a beautiful night and we stayed and had dinner on the patio and talked well past when the staff locked up and left.
Not much happening today. I need to take the dog in for a nail trim and pick up groceries. H is begging to bike to a farther park, so hopefully L tolerates that.

I commented on a local news station’s story about local school district’s proposed reopening plan and was contacted by a reporter (the author of the article) about doing a quick zoom interview on the subject.
Would you do it?

I watched Feel the Beat last night and it was pretty cute. M saw that Evie from the Descendants is the lead so she wants to watch it tonight after I pick her up.

Morning. V thought it would be fun to keep me up for most of the night nursing so of course she’s been sleeping all morning. The OB and pedi have been in and approved for us to go home today so we’ve been getting ready for that. I’m going to miss the room service, but I am so ready to sleep in my own bed. flamingo if I had something that I felt very confident talking about then I would do it.

flamingo I also wouldn't do the interview, but I don't like speaking on a forum like that. Plus I feel like my face looks distorted on video calls, which is what I really look like anyway. Yay to going home today trtlcrzy. Can't wait for the girls to meet their new baby sister.

OK, I did it. It was just 3 or 4 questions...hopefully I didn't sound like a complete idiot! I'm assuming it's a print story, but luckily I had my hair/makeup done b/c I was at the pedi earlier, lol. And yes mwhip I hate the way I look on camera, too.

I dropped the older kids at my in-laws and picked up groceries. Now A is napping and I'm sitting on the couch with lunch, the best.

Yesterday my excitement was looking at my grass. My front yard was overrun with weeds and seeing the actual grass coming in after I seeded and fertilized last week had me giddy yesterday evening. I rolled my eyes at myself after I realized that was the happiest I had been all day. Lol.

I kept bringing it up after dinner like i was remembering fond memories of a trip we took.

Hi ladies. Back in the office today. My boss is a total wimp when it comes to supervising. My small team of 4 had great productivity and our work can be done 90% remotely (and there's been a freeze for a couple of months on the other 10% regardless of where we work so in other words everything we're doing right now could be from home) and with procedures in place we could do the rest from home too. However, because of individual "challenges" with telework (the usual fuck-ups not doing their job) he's reluctant to support it for people on an individual basis. I thought how simple is it that "xyz is allowed to work from home because xyz actually did her work at home, if you want the same privilege start improving your production then we'll revisit it." Telework was a solution to a lot of stress for me and eliminated mom guilt. Plus for the first time in about 2 years I'm actually caught up and sitting around here with little of nothing to do. I've got shows loaded on my phone. So not much for me today other than being bored and bitter in the office.

inthekitty I'm sorry. I agree that they should have allowed those that were productive to continue to work from home. That is incredibly frustrating.

inthekitty I get it...everyone has said they know I'm working as normal from home. They know when they email me, that I am going to respond, faster than anyone else. But because corporate is pushing everyone to go back 60% of the time, that applies to all of us. Although I'm actually looking forward to seeing other people. Well, at least my boss and 1 other person. Definitely not the assholes in the office.

inthekitty, that is always one of my major personality pet peeves. I’ve never understood why the whole group has to suffer, or lose privileges, or have to sit in training for things that only a small population needs. The ability to differentiate what employees need is so helpful and allows the employees to see that the supervisors really understand.

I’ve never understood why the whole group has to suffer, or lose privileges, or have to sit in training for things that only a small population needs. The ability to differentiate what employees need is so helpful and allows the employees to see that the supervisors really understand. Exactly. A good supervisor realizes people have individual issues that need to be addressed. Only one other person in our group has school age kids and he's more than happy to leave that responsibility to his wife, so in other words I'm the only one facing a major issue with the kids only being in school 2 days a week next school year (FML but that's a whole other issue). I have a meeting scheduled with my boss' superior tomorrow and while I don't expect much to come of it other than some canned CYA statements, I'm at least not giving up without a fight. But yeah, people just returned to work and the fridge is already fucking disgusting and overflowing. The rationale is it's "safe" in our offices. So they want people basically to stay in our offices and not interact much. Ironically I've always had much less social interaction at work than at home. I work with a bunch of oddballs. On here has always been the bulk of my workday socialization. So why the eff not just be at home? It's very clearly a control thing from the higher-ups in the hospital.

Went off-site this morning and I actually had help! I had 2 of the associates come out and help and we were able to finished both outside units. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a big chunk indoors completed. And when I say indoors I don't mean climate control, there's just a roof over the place. It's basically the cheapest storage place the old file clerk could find and it's miserable. So I have 4 more units to go. The associates that came today said they would come tomorrow, so hopefully we can get most, if not all, of it completed. I'm so ready to be done with this shit.

I had to Amazing Race style it home this morning because DS broke his braces and they could fix them at 10:30. Of course I encountered the bridge opening which costs me 10 minutes so I ended up having to go directly to the orthodontist office with the family and the dog in the car. Now DS1 and DD are both are friend’s houses swimming, C is sleeping, and T is playing Xbox. I just paid some bills and now I’m relaxing. DH signed up for a virtual wine tasting that I planned to join but it’s at 4:30 so not going to work with having to pick up kids later.
