How dare they infringe on my constitutional rights expecting me to wear a mask??? said with the greatest of sarcasm and biggest eyerolls. I see this argument regularly from 2 'friends' on FB. No one can talk sense into them. Yep. I got called a Karen because I said kids have the capacity to understand they need to wear a mask and if not stay home (in a nicer manner, and of course I extend this to my own kids too--it sucks, but for places where I know they won't be able to follow the rules I won't bring them). I was laughing because they Karen thing didn't even make sense. People just like to throw out Karen every now and then. It's the new Boomer. Dopes. It’s the Karens who are refusing to wear masks. Dude is great about wearing a mask. X and P will put one on, but quickly begin messing around with it. They don’t understand yet.

Facemasks aren’t promoted over here unless you can’t guaranty distance, for instance on public transport, hairdressers or at PT. So you hardly see them outside.
I will say I hate wearing them, they make me feel claustrophobic, short of breath and my glasses keep fogging up.
Eta I’ll wear them off course when needed/if mandatory.

nam2013 did most parents at your schools send their kids back to school when they opened? I have friends who would sent theirs tomorrow and friends why say they won’t until a vaccine is available. It will certainly be an interesting few months.

ETA plans for now are to fully reopen elementary schools June 8th. Middle and high schools will partially reopen next Tuesday (Monday is Pentecost), meaning smaller groups, not at school everyday, keeping distance, disinfectants everywhere, no shares lunch breaks etc etc. this will continue this way untill at least fall break (October). ETA 2 A vaccine might not be available for another year or so (I really hope won’t be that long). And do wonder what the emotional costs would be for kids not to go to school for that long...

It is frustrating. I don’t think violent protests are the way to go. I understand the rage, but there are better ways to make change and protest. This is not the way. It's so hard because I absolutely get the outrage and despair. But this just fuels the fire for the dickhead racist Trumpers who will focus on this instead of why people are angry. However, people in that category will probably focus on anything other than the cause no matter what (see: Colin Kapernick). *sigh* Agree 100%

Hi!
We just got back from some errands. First time I’ve been in a retail establishment other than Target or a grocery store since this all started. It was nice. We looked at front doors for the new house, and stopped at a freestanding Talbots (where I I bought a dress ...my mom told me I’m coming over to the dark side, lol. Guess I’m officially #old 😂)
I’d say 60+% of ppl here are wearing masks, my mom and I do. They’re required in some places. C and B wore them the other day at Target but I didn’t make her wear one at the places we were in today (B stayed with my dad). I figure she’s little and gets a pass.

Hi!
This has to be the longest short week ever. Almost Friday.
The guy that was supposed to come yesterday canceled at the last minute. He says he will come today, but if he doesn’t contact me or come, I’ll just text my girl for another contractor because I am in no mood for chasing around someone to do this.
It’s our anniversary today and it feels weird not be going to a kid free dinner. Oh well. Let’s hope next year I get to make it up with a kid free international trip. A girl can dream, right? 🙃

My bum hurts. I occasionally get infected ingrown hairs in my lady garden and usually they clear up on their own. I got one that was way worse than normal so I went to my doctor...and they had to lance it. She put in lidocaine but that did not help, it was very painful. It is going to suck so bad sitting at work tonight. I took a Tylenol and have a heating pad on it but that only helps so much. I hope this heals quickly.

Yikes! trtlcrzy No fun at all. I’m sorry. Hope it’s not too bothersome at work tonight. Thanks ladies! nam2013 I’m not sure where we would go yet. We had not started to plan before all this happened. I want to get a little of Europe under our belt. Maybe Portugal, Spain, France? It will probably have to wait another year now. Le sigh.

When I got home MH had just made it home. He came up to me and said- I got your ring cleaned. He looked at my ring last week and noticed I had not had it cleaned in a very long time. Maybe FFCT? Lol I used to go to a local jewelry store in AL occasionally to have it cleaned, but have not done that since we moved. But the kicker is that when I looked at it- it was not clean at all. I don’t know where he went, but clearly they didn’t know what they were doing because it didn’t look any different. I guess I can break out the windex and old toothbrush to give it a gentle scrub.

C basically just “my body my choic-ed” me 🤦🏻♀️ he’s been into wrestling the last few weeks and want a tattoo sleeve. He was about to start coloring with marker on his arm and I stopped him. He says “no one can tell me what I can’t do with MY body!” This kid is going to be the death of me!
Oh and dh and C got haircuts from my mom today. She’s been retired from hairdressing for about 15 years. She still does my dads but he’s had the same cut for decades. She also did Cs first few but I quit her because they were not great. But desperate times. He now has very uneven hair and a very choppy line from the clipper to the longer hair. I’ll have to get it fixed once we are comfortable going somewhere. Luckily DHs came out pretty good. I did not entrust her with mine. I’ll wait it out.

I'm #teamgoldi in that I don't feel like I can judge people right now. First off, non-violent protest has gotten them nowhere fast. Cap still isn't playing, other athletes and celebrities get slammed for speaking up too aggressively over these events. I also think we forget that when we look back at the civil rights movement of the 1960s, we look through it from a lense of a generation that grew up learning about MLK Jr. and I have a dream. But at the time, his actions were very much controversial. I mean, they killed the man in cold blood.
Secondly I cannot fathom how angry and scared people must feel to see POC literally killed in plain sight over and over, with no real repercussions. I worry about my boys everyday but I have never once worried that someone will feel threatened by them and hurt or kill them preemptively. And I probably will never have to worry about that.
ETA: Also these asshole anti-mask idiots were literally wandering around heavily armed, very intentionally trying to intimidate their critics. And they were left in peace. Yet when POC do convene to protest respectfully, they are often met with armed (and often violent) police resistance.
And this is probably why you should all be glad work keeps me too busy to post much lately! LOL

Is she our first K graduate (besides the ones that graduated K last year)? I hear you. I really haven’t indulged in much retail therapy during all this for that reason. I bought some stuff the kids *needed* online, but esp for myself I am old-school and like to see how things coordinate and touch/try on/etc.

joelies I just scrolled through the scenes on IG this morning and seeing the fires and looting made me sad. I don’t like violence at all. This afternoon I had a chance to read some articles and hear what some people have to say and I can understand why it came to this. No I still don’t like it, but damn what is it going to take for this to stop happening so often. Don Lemon is right, there are two viruses killing Americans. The murder of unarmed black people across the country has to end.
