Oh my gosh. That is adorable! Thanks. I have plans for a light blue and white beachy color scheme for the family pics. I am also having a heck of a time finding a dress for me. I found one I like and then realized it would be impossible to nurse in without taking it off. I love a few from seraphine but they are $$$ and more than I want to spend.

aries I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Has it been going on for a while? That sounds miserable. It has slowly gotten worse and worse and now I’ve just hit the point where I can’t do much without having excruciating pain. I would say probably really bad for the last month? I’m just so bummed about it because I do like being pregnant and I’m so happy to be having this baby but all this pain is making me feel more and more grumpy and negative and I hate being like that. I have talked to my OB about it but I don’t think I really make it seem like that big of a deal and so she chalks it up to being second baby, older, regular pregnancy pains. I will talk to her this week about how truly horrible it is.

hangry Were you planning on having your older kids home with you while you're on maternity leave or is it a free for all because of Coronavirus? I understand your feelings. DD (8) was supposed to stay home with me this summer, but had a few camps to break up the summer. Now I'm trying to decide if she'll just go to daycare (and we won't save the $600/month) or if we'll just drive each other crazy at home all summer. I'm hoping we can find a happy medium where she has a 6ish week break from daycare at home, but not all 12 weeks of my leave.

Birth Date - April 22 (almost 4 wks old) The Good - I feel so much more like a normal person these days. I would say fully recovered from birth. Baby T is doing good. He is more chill than my other newborns were. He’s eating well and sleeping in 3-4 hour chunks at night. The other kids utterly adore him. My H is still wfh, so I get some mental and chore breaks during the day from him. I’ve let some of the school stuff slide and me and my sons mental state is much better. The Bad - T had a light case of jaundice but the doc wasn’t overly concerned. But even now, his color isn’t back to normal, despite eating and voiding and sleeping what i think is normal. He also has ingrown toenails on both big toes. I have a a phone appt for his 1 month on Wednesday so I’ll be asking about those things. I definitely have diastasis recti, so when possible, I’ll be scheduling an appointment with a PT. I’m having mild anxiety at the thought of daycare/ camps not opening this summer and my h returning to work. I know everyone is here, but I still don’t like the thought of it. Milestones/Appointments - 1 month appt by phone on Wed. To Do List - Take some belated “newborn” shots that will mimic what we’ve done for the other two kids. I’ve already told my photographer that I want individual and family pictures as soon as she’s ready. This is going to sound ridiculous... Order my daughters baby album. I made about 90% of a Shutterfly album 2.5 yrs ago but never finished it or ordered it. I just need to do it. Master procrastinator here. Did you have diastasis recti with any other of your babies? That’s awesome to be aware of it so early so you can work to healing it before it heals incorrectly or gives you any problems. I hope your son’s one month check up gives you some answers about those concerns.

I know I told the NP at my OB's office that it felt like my hips were being smashed and ripped apart at the same time and that really got her attention. For the record, I started using a roller on my IT bands (outside of your upper part of your legs) and that really helps my hips not hurt as much. It's not perfect, but it is much better.

Weeks/Due Date - 37 + 3, June 5
The Good - The end is in sight!
The Bad - I’ve been awake for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night almost every night lately. I just can’t get comfortable. My right hip pain/sciatica is getting worse again. I don’t really want to go to the chiropractor but that has definitely helped in the past.
Milestones/Appointments - 38 week appointment on Friday.
To Do List - I still need to install the car seat. I have it out of the box so I’ve made some progress. I also need to finish packing my hospital bag.

I was planning to keep both kids in camp/daycare through July and then home for the month of August. I was definitely NOT planning on having them home for 5.5 months, lol. And it’s likely that all camps/daycares will be closed through summer. It just feels like forever.

I hope your son’s one month check up gives you some answers about those concerns. I did have moderate cases with both and I think they both improved with time but never fully recovered. Since I’m a PT myself, I know I should have been treated before, but just never did it. So I’ll explore it this time and make sure I’m doing the right exercises on my own.

danib how was your night? How’s your hip, can you go home today? A lot less pain today, which is awesome. They just want a few more tests before they feel comfortable letting me go, but that should get sorted early this afternoon. As long as nothing major comes up or gets delayed they'll release me and treat as outpatient. So fingers crossed.

Just had my hip joint aspirated. Healthy fluid should be clear, mine was yellow and completely opaque. Which doesn't give an exact answer, just that there is inflammation which could have a few causes. Worst case is bone infection (but based on my symptoms is very unlikely), most likely and easiest to treat is synovitis again (which we all think is the case based on my medical history). So they just have to test the fluid and we'll be able to get this all taken care of Edit to add: getting that fluid out relieved basically the rest of the pain which is lovely.

Well fuck me. Initial screening is showing some cell cultures that are iffy and outside of what they expected to see. Starting antibiotics as a precaution and not going home today after all. Sorry for the live blog.

Sorry for the live blog. That stinks! Also, what exactly do they do to aspirate fluid from your hip? It sounds so painful, but I'm glad it relieved some of your pain afterwards.

It's like a big ass needle they put into the joint and draw the fluid out. The tube part looks similar to a 10ml medicine syringe, and the needle part is similar to an IV. They do it under guidance (usually x-ray but used ultrasound for me) to get it in the right spot.

You're a brave woman!

Damn danib. I’m sorry it wasn’t a straight forward issue this time. Fx it’s still something easy to fix.

In other hip/joint news - not as serious as danib - I had a telemedicine appt today and then went and got an X-ray to try to get some insight into my excruciating pain that could be sciatica or a disc issue. I had trouble standing up long enough for them to do the X-ray. Fingers crossed it reveals something that can be improved somehow. It’s not too hard to take care of a newborn while mostly lying down, but I feel bad for DH and my other kids that I’m not more mobile.

I got the report from the telemedicine PA (who I was not particularly impressed with) that the X-ray shows no significant abnormalities. I think I’m still going to ask for a referral to a spine person because when I broke my hand a couple years ago (By ramming it into the arm of a treadmill while sprinting 🤦♀️), whatever general person read the X-ray said it was normal, and then the specialist said it was broken, so I don’t know if I trust the general person.
On the one hand, it would have been nice for them to see something obvious and fixable. On the other hand, if it really did look normal, then maybe that’s a good sign that my OB’s theory is right that it will fix itself as my uterus continues to shrink and I continue to lose weight.
My sister’s BIL is a doctor who runs a well respected pain management practice, so I’m going to reach out to him to see if he has any tips. Unfortunately it’s on the east coast but we could discuss by phone.

I totally get that sdlaura. Like obviously you don't want them to find something bad. But finding nothing means there's nothing to fix it. For me, I just found out I'm getting released. They ruled out a bone infection, which was what everyone was scared of, so it was likely a flare up of my autoimmune stuff causing another case of synovitis. That's still not a great thing (because it's not normal for it to randomly happen like it does with me) but it's the best case scenario all things considered. And since the aspiration got all the fluid and took away the pain, we don't need to do anything else. I'll just follow up with my Rheumatologist and other doctors on my regular care team.

sdlaura I’m sorry you didn’t get more info from the x-ray. Did anyone mention doing any other diagnostic tests? MRI, CTscan? An X-ray only shows bones, so if there is a fracture or bony malalignment. It wouldn’t show if there was a disc herniation or some other soft tissue or connective tissue problem. Can you describe your pain again? I work in spinal cord injury, so worst case scenario of back injuries, so I have some knowledge in this area.
