hangry he gets home Thursday. So ideally we'd like it to happen next weekend. But selfishly I'm like - I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and as soon as that "milestone" hits I'm good to go, sorry DH!

Is it still only one support person allowed at your hospital? It is at ours. If you go into labour this weekend, then at least your mom can come if DH is still away and you won’t have to decide which one is coming. *half joking because I know you do want DH there lol How long would it take him to get back?

So my water broke last night at 36+3. We’re in the hospital now and not much is happening. This is so different from my other kids where my water didn’t break till right before they popped out and I showed up to hospital 8/9 cm dilated.

Yeah it's still just one support person allowed, and that won't be changing for a long time. Its funny/not funny, my mom was here this morning and had a little cry because she felt so guilty about the whole thing - she's been there for all 7 of her grandchildren's births so far and is devistated about the chances of missing this one, but then feeling selfish over that thought because getting to attend this one would mean DH misses his own child's birth. If I do end up going into labour the likelihood of him getting in on time is pretty slim. Unless there was a complete fluke of a situation where it happened just prior to a helicopter going out that had space for him, it would likely take until the next day for him to come home. Right now with Covid they have reduced the number of passengers they will fly and are only scheduling one helicopter per day per rig (and flying 7 days a week instead of 4) so that they ccan better control the flow of workers.

I wish I would have just gone back to sleep at midnight instead of heading right in.

Good vibes to you that everything goes smoothly ❤️ that’s still a good amount of time for baby to have been growing. How are you holding up?

danib that’s so hard for all of you. But on the bright side no matter when you go into labour you will have a support person regardless if it’s your mom or H.

Thanks ladies - it’s a little frustrating that nothing much is happening yet. They put in a little balloon thing to try to get my cervix to expand more without meds. I did have a little blood in the toilet and I’m feeling a bit more pressure so hopefully that’s a good sign. I much prefer going into labor and holding baby within 3 hours

Exciting sdlaura! I hope things get moving on their own soon. Are you able to walk around at all or are you confined to your bed/room?

ETA and again, if I just read a little further, I would see you can’t walk outside the room. Man, I’m not good at multitasking. Keep at that ball!

Good luck sdlaura! I had my 37 week appointment today. They did my group b strep and checked me. I’m 3 cm dilated but know I could be at that for weeks.

He’s here! It took a long time to get real contractions going but we managed to avoid interventions. Benjamin Mac is 6 lbs 9 oz and is just barely pre term. My sciatica hasn’t going away yet so my leg is still killing me.

Thanks ladies! We had a pretty good first night. hangry yes I had been hoping to leave the hospital quickly, but I adjusted my expectations to 24 hours post birth since baby wasn’t born until after noon and was also technically premature (4 days before 37 weeks). If he only could have held out an additional 4 days we wouldn’t have to do extra blood sugar testing and the car seat challenge So now we’re just hopeful to get out of here mid-day today. He’s done awesome on all his tests so far, so fingers crossed. I think it’s good that he’s a little early because he decided to arrive on his own vs. us evicting him early for some reason, so I think he was ready. In terms of hospital procedures, they had me come in through the ER to get screened and DH waited in the car until I was officially admitted. They tested me for COVID and when it came back negative I could take my mask off. DH wears a mask when medical staff is in the room but otherwise has it off. We’ve felt like the experience is pretty normal otherwise and feel pretty safe. Only negative is that I thought my sciatica would improve after delivery but instead it has gotten much worse and it’s excruciating for me to move/walk/even sit on my left butt cheek/upper leg. I wouldn’t need any meds post labor (no tearing) if not for that, but I’m doing both Motrin and Tylenol for my leg. Hopefully it goes away soon as all the labor hormones and fluid dissipate. I’m feeling really good otherwise so I have to remind myself that it’s only been 18 hours since he was born and hopefully the sciatica will improve. My sister had planned an hour long zoom sprinkle for me at 1 pm today. I requested no gifts and mailed all the attendees some fancy candy so we could enjoy something together. We decided not to share our news widely that the baby had been born, so of the attendees, only my sister and SIL know. My sister sent out a message that we’ll play a game of all guessing the baby’s due date and birth weight, then I’ll be like ‘surprise, he’s already here!’ It should be a fun/funny way to introduce him.
