I have an Ergo 360, a linen ring sling, and a toddler tula. I used the ring sling and the Ergo (with a rolled up receiving blanket instead of the infant insert) from pretty early on. We used the Ergo until about 18 months and then switched to the toddler tula. I love them equally and for different reasons. I'm thinking of getting a Ktan this time around for tiny baby. Here are a couple of pics, because AW and oh squishy, from about the same time. DS was about 5 weeks actual but this was about a week before his due date. I would estimate he was about 7ish pounds maybe. I love the ring sling but he quickly became a seat popper and we had to give it up.

Thoughts on swings and rock n plays? Do I need both?
I put a rock n play on my registry because people seem to rave about them, but I didn't put a swing. A friend of mine has been hassling me because she doesn't think I'm asking for enough stuff, and one thing she mentioned was a swing. What do you think?

We loved our swing (fisher price snug-a-puppy)! It was DS's happy place (and therefore my favorite item). We avoided the RNP - I had heard that babies get very used to the angle/the close feel and then have a hard time transitioning to the crib (if being used for sleep, although my understanding is that the RNP is not meant for sleep unless otherwise advised by a dr). One thing re: our swing - it is huge. Definitely check out the footprint before you buy/register.

bethers, thanks for the input! We won't be using the rock n play for sleep if we can help it. I've also got a bassinet on my registry.

Plus, not enough room for everything:) If you have room, do both! Also, if you're looking for more to put in the list, did you register for high chair and the eating stuff you'll need later? We had a high chair on our list but didn't do bowls, spoons, etc - thankfully, one of my mom's friends, an experienced grandma, bought us some!

I didn't register for that stuff originally, but another friend (mom of 3) offered that suggestion the other day. I've got a high chair, bowls, and spoons on there now. I hadn't thought of it, but she was like, "By 6 months, the baby will be eating some food, so you might as well put that on there."

We did not have a swing last time around, and I didn't really miss it. There were a few times I thought, hmm it might be nice to try it, but meh. We have a rock and play, but I have an automatic rock and play on my registry while I think about if I need to badly enough for that feature. Our original one has vibration, but it would be so nice not to have to rock it myself. #lazy

We've always just had a swing as our living areas baby holder. Just a very simple one that was low to the ground and folded up for easy storage. The one we used for DD and DS actually broke, so we will be getting a new one for this kid.
I've heard mixed reviews on RNPs, either people completely love them or they blame them for their baby's flat head and poor sleeping habits.

I have a rock and play and swing. I got them from a sale where you got the rock and play free with the purchase of the swing. I found them both handy for different things.

A friend of mine has been hassling me because she doesn't think I'm asking for enough stuff, and one thing she mentioned was a swing. What do you think? Honestly, you don't need either but both are nice to have. I used the rock n play to put DS while I pumped. I could see him, he could see me, and I could talk/sing to him. The swing helped calm him sometimes. He was also a velcro baby so napped best when in motion (preferably while being held -- but even though I love babywearing, mama needs a break sometimes). We borrowed a swing from a friend last time and this time I'll be getting one of the two in one versions by graco. It detaches and is a bouncer too. ETA: We didn't use either until he was 2-3 months old. I was really hesitant on the rock n play for the potential of only being able to sleep reclined and my mom brought over the swing because she was over the constant motion thing. She and our babysitter ended up using both items more than we did. However with this being baby #2, I think we are going to need the swing since DS is still all about the constant motion and it gives me a safe place to put baby.

I think this is going to be very true for most things! And every baby is different. Maybe this baby will prefer a swing and I end up getting one; I have no idea. For the first few months, the bouncer was what I used the most while DD was awake but happy so I could do things like pump or take a shower. I wore her in the KTan for most other things like cooking or cleaning. The pack and play was used mostly for diaper changes and actual naps; we kept it in the living room. Bassinet was very minimally used but we also had a cheap one. The rock and play was the only place she slept at night for months 2-3, because there was an incline and vibration. She moved easily to the crib after 3 months (although she did have the typical 4 month sleep regression and didn't fully STTN until 11 months. But I didn't really use the rock n play much during the day. Maybe a few times. Tl;dr this baby could be completely different!

We have a small, low to the ground, battery swing that we also only use a baby holder when needed.

For those of you in colder climates, I highly recommend a ll bean bodysuit that has covers for the feet and hands. I used to put DD in the baby bjorn in those bodysuits and I never had to worry about cold hands or feet on our walks.

I don't have a registry this time since second baby. I do have an amazon wishlist though to keep track of "boy" things since that is different this time around as well as a few big ticket items we need. Furniture, mattress, double stroller, etc.
I do want a swing this time. Last time was fine with just the rnp. But lets get real this baby will probably not be held quite as much. Does anyone have one they love or recommend?

How do I get Target's registry bag thing? Go in and ask? I think you just go in and go to customer service. I'm not sure if you have to purchase anything off the registry to qualify.

No prob! I just walked up the customer service and asked for it. They didn't even look up my registry or anything. I haven't fully gone through it, but there seem to be some decent goodies.

With DD we had a swing and a RNP. We loved both for different reasons. The swing we used ALL THE TIME - she would spend at least an hour or two in there per day - she loved it, we loved it - it was fantastic. The RNP we used for portability - we would take it out on the deck with us or into the bathroom if we were showering and she was awake or even down to visit family.
We also had a bouncer and she hated it - we never ever used it because she would scream when she was in it.
The swing we had was borrowed and we are going to borrow another one this time but it's a way smaller one so I'm excited. The RNP didn't have auto rock and I regret it so much that I may wind up buying a new RNP for this kiddo. The bouncer we gave away but we are going to borrow from a friend.

+1 to lucies list. I pretty much relied on that completely for #1.
I made a registry for this one on Amazon, but mostly just to keep myself organized. When we were on vacation last week my aunt asked if I had a registry. I told her about it and she ordered me my white noise machine, backpack diaper bag, and a book for DD1. Sweet!

My Amazon baby box should be here soon and my Prime Day Lillebaby arrived yesterday. I haven't had time to mess with it, but it's kind of making things more real.
