How's everyone holding up? Anyone tackling potty training while staying home? Do your kids love or hate being home? Or are you still working and kids still in daycare? How are the new babies?

it's been hard. DD is pretty miserable. It's a fight to get her to do much of anything. We have found that a rigorous schedule goes over better for weekdays since she needs the routine. We have a telehealth therapy appointment for DD on Wednesday because there are so many big emotions that I need outside help.
DS is enormous. He's 3 weeks tomorrow and at his appointment today he weighed in at 11lbs 2oz. I checked and DD didn't weigh that much until her 2 month appointment. I'm very wtf about it. Lol.

It's funny because back when I first got pregnant. I posted on GD that I hoped for a potato baby with rolls for days, but given DD I doubted it would happen. Someone, and I can't for the life of me remember who, posted a side by side if their kids at the same age and the difference in size between the two was almost comical. Their first was a skinny baby like DD and their second was like 3x the size. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same with DD and DS. I can't wait to take his 1 month pic next week to compare.

That's my kids with height - the little guy is still a skeleton, but he's always been off the charts for height. Now they're almost the same height. Everyone asks if their twins... and there's a 3.5 year age difference.

Like sheilathetank mine do better with a pretty strict routine, so that's what we've been doing daily from 8am-naptime. Both of mine are thrilled to be at home. Don't miss their friends. Don't want to go back to school. But they're hard and driving me crazy since DH and I are both still working full time, and neither of our jobs allow for flexibility in hours we can work. (Like there's no working after the kids go to be). This morning we already had a meltdown over the wrong bath bomb coming in the mail (8yo) AND having to pick up feathers from a feather boa (4yo). And a fight broke out because the 8yo said the feathers were bothering his allergies and tried to kill the 4yo to stop him from playing with the boa. It's 9:30am.

We came up with a schedule when this all started and it has since gone out the window. It's pretty much non-stop train all day long here.

Our daycare is tentatively scheduled to reopen in 3 weeks and we need to figure out what to do. We are 99% sure he is not going back at that time but I don't know when we will feel comfortable sending him. We have to pay 25% to hold his spot, which I think is reasonable, but I also wonder if it's even worthwhile given that he is so not keen on going back. Obviously he will have to go back to a daycare at some point but I wonder if a change of scenery might be good for him. I do really like his teachers and they've been really great through this whole ordeal but they also lost their lunch program subsidy so I have to start packing lunch when he goes back, which I am really not looking forward to.

piratecat packing a lunch sucks. I was so happy when DD was old enough where I didn’t need to make bottles anymore. DD has a big food envy thing, she always wants what somebody else is eating. It would be torture for her to see all the kids eating something different.

Make a list of 5 each of proteins, dairy, carbs, fruits, and veggies and use that to mix and match each week. I used little Tupperware containers because I could prep a ton in the beginning of the week and just throw them in the lunchbox. I know a lot of people use bentgo boxes and the like but they can be expensive and then I had to make everything that day.

Im at the point where I'm ready to roll up to school when it opens and drop kick DD out of the car. She can quarantine there for two weeks for all I care.
I love my kid, I do, but my god I am not cut out for all this togetherness and she NEEDS structure from school.

Or maybe he will finally get into the daycare/preschool he's been waitlisted at for 3.5 years, ha.

Do they guarantee your kid gets into an ivy League school? What in the world? It's wild. But it's not uncommon either, there are other daycares we've been waitlisted for the same amount of time, but this is the only one I would consider switching him for. They've been around forever (100+ years) and well regarded. Their preschool rooms looked super sweet. In addition to sibling priority they give priority to lower income families, which is nice, but makes it extra hard to get into. They were very up front about it from the beginning and said most kids on waitlists will get in around 3. They said people get on waitlists even before they get pregnant (I considered it for a potential second child).

We packed lunch from September through February when out daycare started getting catering from the restaurant next door. We had pretty much devolved into lunchables. I love the catering plus I get to support a local restaurant.

I have good weeks and blah days. I’m currently in a bit of a blah phase. The kids are doing great overall. They were constantly asking why we weren’t going anywhere but they just accepted it. Ds was a bit sad about school. One day he was practicing his writing and asked if I could take a picture to show his teachers.
Today my oldest turns 5! I’m sad we can’t have the big family birthday bash that was planned and have to wait to get him a big boy bike (mh wants to take him to the store for sizing etc) but all he wants is a chocolate cake, new sunglasses (he lost his), and a flashlight (for adventures!).
Dd had a telemedicine call with her pediatric ophthalmologist. I thought it would be a waste because she’s three but it turned out really well. It was definitely a two person job even with her cooperating. I guess all the FaceTiming with grandparents paid off.

piratecat that’s such a tough decision. I don’t think anything around me is opening until the end of the summer but if my kid’s little summer camp opened up, I’d be super tempted to send him. sheilathetank hope you’re hanging in there and today is a better week for you!

Our stay-at-home got extended through end of May so daycare won’t open until June, which I think would at least be closer to when we would feel comfortable sending him, but we shall see.

Happy birthday to your little guy Lakes! Mine turns 5 next month, so DH and I were talking last night about what we're going to do. Originally we were going to Disney, but we've decided on no theme parks this year, even if they're open, because that tended to be outbreak central before the Coronavirus! I almost wish it was today, because it would answer a lot of questions - we'd just do a Zoom party. Next month who knows where we'll be.

Baby is going through a leap so she is either sleeping or wants to sleep. Too bad she's #4... cause I could go for constant naps and snuggles.

School has been cancelled for the year. DD goes to a year long program so if they ok summer school she can go back, maybe.
DD is already showing signs of baby boredom at 4 fucking weeks. Slow your roll child. Seriously.
I convinced MH to install an Intex pool.
I am tired. So, so tired.

Hi everyone! Are we reviving? 🤞🏻
I am over my boys being home. They are going back to daycare on Monday. DD will be still home with us. DS1 has been doing teletherapy, but with DS2 home, it’s been absolute chaos. We’ll be bringing DS2 in in the morning and DS1 at noon.
It’s been an absolute nightmare trying to work from home. I’ve been taking weekend shifts for one of the covid response call centers so I can take days off during the week to help, but it is exhausting.
DD is, at least, loving the whole thing about being home and super chill. We’ve hit the “rolling across the floor to explore” stage, and it’s adorable watching her move with determination to get something

I am so over being stuck in a house with 10 people. I get that more than half of the occupants are my fault, but man, if I was in my own home, I could so ignore most of their shit without fear of annoying others.

We are isolating with the best ILs in the world and even then I am really looking forward to them leaving for a few weeks. They’ve been really helpful with childcare but I could use a little bit of space.

How was everyone's mother's day? DD had very specific instructions for MH on what to get everyone.
I got a basket with a box of Annie's Mac and cheese, a package of Hawaiian rolls, and rainbow lollipops.
Mil got rainbow socks and rainbow lollipops.
My mother got a rainbow unicorn and rainbow lollipops.
Brownie points to MH for entertaining that shit. It was super cute though and she was so excited to give it to us. And then she asked if she could have a rainbow lollipop and if my mother's rainbow unicorn could visit her room 😂🤦♀️

DH let the kids take the lead (he gave me a new hairdryer I wanted) so it ended up hysterical.
They raided my bathroom cabinet and filled up a basket with my stuff for me. And DH helped them make a charm bracelet by drilling through their small toys and TRADING CARDS and threading elastic through them.
The little one gave me his toy Elsa and Olaf to remind me of the time we dressed up as Elsa and Olaf (yesterday) and his purse stuffed with his toys (including twin hatchimals to remind me of him and his brother).
DH and my oldest also made me breakfast, and my oldest made me lunch.

My H and kids did nothing, but that is par for the course here with every holiday or event.
I told DH I wanted to install more shelving in our closet as my “gift.” He said ok. I told him to pick a time for me to go to home depot to get them (they are still open, and I need to make sure I get the right kind). He gave a look of displeasure.
Fine. I got myself an Apple Watch 5 instead 🤣

Mh had the kids do some handprint art since I wasn’t getting the usual one from school. It was not a surprise since we’re all stuck in the house together and he had to ask me where some of the art supplies were but it was still cute.
My requested food was supplied. I had sushi on Saturday, a fancy cheese plate on Sunday, and combos for snacking. Then I mostly ignored my family and put a solid day into my various genealogy projects.
