I went through all of the stuff I kept for M2 and it now I’m sad. So many cute outfits and no where to wear them. It would have been perfect with the travel plans I had for this year, but alas... here we are.
FFCT: It’s been 6 weeks of going nowhere. We talked to both of our parents this week about visiting them soon to see if they were comfortable with it. They were both very much on board. Not sure if I will go since I still go to work, but if they do, it will be a weekend after one of my dead weeks as a precaution.

Had a Zoom meeting with work today. We're all getting a 10% drop in pay. This includes the partners, but that 10% is just a drop in the bucket for them. We'll see how the rest of the year goes. And then I got an email from the office manager saying attorneys had all these files they wanted to close and could the receptionist just box them up and send them to storage. Uh, no. That's not how I do my job. So now I'll be going in on Saturday to do that. I emailed the attorneys and said if they have files to close let me know. No one emailed me back. 🙄 Do you have shit or not?? So aggravating.

tgrimes , that interesting that she's the only one doing that. so are the other K classes moving up together and just getting a new teacher? Or will all the other classes mix and Ms class stay together? One of S friends (parents) has been pushing for the class to stay together. I'm not sure what our town will do but it's a fairly small school (3 K classes) so whatever happens, he already pretty much knows all the kids. I do love his teacher now, after seeing all she's done for them this past month, and would love to see her again but I do no think that is an option

klong11, everyone at my job who was not laid off or furloughed had to take a 10% cut as well It stinks but I am happy to still be employed wedding, are the zoom meetings mandatory? We have daily google classroom meets and I have noticed a few kids do not attend. It might just not be for C. And honestly, boo to his teacher for addressing it this way. They are 5 & 6 year olds, and this is so tough for them. S has a stellar attentions span, and even he is struggling. I'm sorry his teacher does not get that.

We talked about meeting up at a park in Portland (between where we live) and having a socially distant picnic. We're going to play it by ear with the weather this weekend and how I'm feeling. The kids already know if we go they have to keep 6 ft distance. There's an outdoor theater with grass tiered seating areas that overlooks the city and the girls would have a lot of fun running around there.

I have no idea about the other kindergarten classes though. It's definitely not their normal procedure.

jewels klong11 Sorry about the pay cuts. My BIL's practice all took pay cuts, as well. I think they cut the hours of the nurses, and docs all took 25%. Which...yeah, it's a doctor's salary, but for the young ones like my BIL who aren't making the big bucks yet, it's a lot. And his loan payment every month is around 2K. :shudder: eta: generally you think of healthcare as recession-proof but that industry is struggling too. Mayo Clinic in my hometown has furloughed a bunch of workers; our friend who works there said it's like a ghost town, patient and employee-wise

We all discussed how we wouldnt do our usual hugs and try to keep social distance as much as possible. It’s better at my mom’s house because it’s open concept, but MILs house would require more caution because of the layout. Another reason why I wouldn’t go there and let the boys go for a long weekend. I also couldn’t see me cooped up in the house with FIL for days. 😵

I don’t know how my main job is not doing major cuts, but if we go on like this much longer, I have to imagine they will start taking some measures to save money. Listening to what it’s like at my second job is scary because that place was always busy when I was there. Sorry jewels, but I am glad you still have a job.

We’ve had no talk of pay cuts yet but based on cuts made in other companies in DH’s field, I have already begun reworking our budget based on percentage cuts for people in similar positions to him. My contract is up this year so who knows what will happen there. I really wanted school to reopen but based on the numbers here, I feel like it will be years. Some urgent cares are advertising antibody tests but I don’t feel like they are reliable yet. As soon as they are, I want to get one.

I hope your main employer can hang on lahdeedah. It seems like they're starting to explore lifting the restrictions on elective/non-emergent surgeries and procedures in some places. Like, it's this crazy irony...we're staying home in part to help protect healthcare workers/prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed, but they can't pay their bills because of it.

Late to check in...we had a telehealth appt with our ped today bc j's constipation is back and wanted to check for best approach, and to check in on various things. Minus my laptop cutting out Midway and having to use my phone, it was very convenient. She def seemed not so optimistic and said camps are unlikely this summer and masks will be the norm, prob for kids too. Also said to hold off on introducing allergens for K in case she has a reaction, but did say that if we need an ER to go to Children's bc they only have 6 Covid patients and it's basically empty.
Mh work started emailing about starting to plan how and when they would come back. Um, not anytime soon I hope! They can't expect people that can work from home to come in if daycares and schools are still closed. The zip code next to us has some of the highest rated in our state and our immediate zip code has 150 or so.. and that's just confirmed, I'm sure it's triple that.

well we started watching the NFL draft out of desperation, and have already turned it off with only the first pick in, lol. It reminded me of why we don't normally watch...it takes so long and there's too much commentary.
Back to the Ozarks.

I know I’ve cancelled all those appts. As to the pay cut, it was actually back in March when the first layoffs happened. Honestly I am just thankful to still have a job and glad I am not busy with it so I can focus on schooling. I am more nervous about the state of my industry and what is going to happen to it- many are predicting it to not have a comeback till NEXT FALL. Which would just be awful.

All of the higher ups took a pay cut and obviously the furloughs. And all us hourlies can’t do any overtime so somewhat of a pay cut especially if you take into account the fact I’m doing more peoples jobs. I fear If this goes on for too much longer more furloughs will happen. I’m trying to focus one day at a time to not worry or stress too much.
C’s company announced they will start letting customers in the stores again starting May 1st but a very limited #. I fear this is false hope and/or dangerous.

The country really needs to get going with antibody testing. As time goes on and more and more of us get it some people can safely get back to "normal."

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think schools will proceed normally in the fall. If this thing is going to stick around that long (God forbid ), then our society will have to learn to live with it...we literally just cannot keep everyone home forever. There will likely have to be options rolled out for kids who have preexisting conditions or other reasons why they cannot be in school--FL has a pretty robust virtual school program normally so I could see more people taking advantage of things like that, for example. My MIL has taught online for as long as I’ve known her. She does middle and high school English, I believe. There are definitely options out there for kids who don’t want to or can’t go to traditional school.

Friends that work in clinics and outpatient procedure areas have had their hours cut a lot. Some of them have transferred departments for the time being so that they can still get hours. I’m surprised your BIL’s practice had to cut so much since he’s an OB (if I’m remembering correctly). I feel like them, ED, and critical care employees are the ones that aren’t feeling it that much. I did have to cut a little bit of my hours, on the weekend we have a 1/2 hour overlap they cut, but for the most part it’s business as usual in my area.

When I did temp checks for my outpatient building with an OBGYN practice, we did have a lot of OB patients come through, but it seemed like women later in their pregnancy or those due for US. I also did temp checks at our cancer center entrance, and that is an area that is still pretty busy with treatment/injections/bloodwork/etc.

I forgot about those depts when I was listing. Tonight’s email update at work said that our state has just under 2000 total cases, 1000 recovered, 11 confirmed cases in my hospital, 4 pending cases in my hospital. The other hospital in my city has a lot more patients, I think 50 or so. We have no SIP order here and they aren’t predicting our peak for a month or 2 so we still have a lot to go.

Ugh I forgot that your classes switch up every year... that makes it suck even more. Ds’ class will change, because he’s now in a group with 4-6yo, but starting 1 grade he’ll stay with that group of kids for 6 years. There’s have a specific 1 grade teacher for now (almost pension ready). But more common in this type of education is having a teacher stay with the class for year 1-3 and then a different teacher for year 4-6.

All elective surgeries have been on hold for six weeks over here and are, as of next week, starting to pick back up. From what I gather midwifes/ob are just doing the bare necessities during appointments and anything else by phone, no extra people/partners allowed during any appointments, even U/S.
We’re over our peak, and numbers are dropping, but in a very small country with 17million people, we need to be very cautious of a sudden rise again. Gatherings of more than three aren’t allowed. Cafes/restaurants/gym clubs are closed until at least June. Festivals/concerts/gatherings/sports events have all been cancelled till October.
ETA just for frame of reference, we have 43.400 confirmed cases (much most in reality probably), over 10.000 have been/are in hospital & 4100 deaths.

I'm laughing at all the Costco talk because I had a Costco instacart order yesterday and somehow ordered it twice so I got two deliveries with all the same stuff! At least the second one had paper towels!

But they’ve cut out most of their GYN stuff right now, stretched out time between check ups for pregnant patients, etc. He’s actually still pretty busy (not as crazy as usual) but some of the older docs who no longer practice OB are not.

Our restrictions on elective procedures have been lifted somewhat so the ENT called to schedule H's surgery. They wanted to do it yesterday but I declined. #1 I'd like to try in the office again. #2 I have no idea if I'll have a job next month so I might need that $4000.

Yeah, I think I’d give the office one more try. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 We’re still under a surgery lockdown here. So I’m going to have to get mine done in FL with new doctor, etc. Not life-altering but annoying.

jewels and klong11 sorry about the pay cuts. I hope it doesn’t last too long and you’re back up to your normal rate quickly. Well the office I work for does real estate and oil & gas law. We're screwed on both fronts. One because of corona and one because the o&g market tanked. It's all just wait and see, but I doubt we'll ever get our 10% back.
