When we bought our house, it came with a brown Kenmore fridge with the freezer on the bottom but it wasn’t a drawer, it was a door so I had to sit on the floor to see what was in the back. We now have a side by side counter depth because our kitchen is small. It’s not good for a family of 6. My parents had one like this in their lake house, but white. It finally died last year and they replaced it with something more modern, but yeah, the bottom door freezer thing was so strange!

I hate most of the new fridge designs. Double doors on top is so stupid. I dont want to have to open two doors, then pull put a huge drawer to get a slice of cheese. The lower freezers usually seem like they waste space and would be hard to organize with the way many are designed. Overall too many drawers and doors. This is what we have but not the big giant drawer. Its 3 plus 2 little cubbies and they're perfect for the boys snacks. The only reason the bottom freezer works for us is because we have a big freezer in the garage. And we have a garage fridge.

lahdeedah the last guy we had out told me to look for something simple when we are ready to buy new. I'll still want a french, so I asked him about whirlpool and he said that's what he recommends. He said stay away from Samsung and LG. Could just be what he prefers to work on, but it matches my research. We will buy Whirlpool when its time. Yeah, I kind of think the more technology we cram into these appliances, the higher the probability that something goes wrong. My parents' garage fridge is probably 35 years old and still works great. I do not think a fridge made now would last that long, generally speaking. When we had the new dishwasher installed recently, the owner of the appliance company told me to avoid Samsung and LG too. His personal favorite is KitchenAid. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that new appliances only have like a 10-12 year life span.

They told me to buy the warranty when we got our washer and dryer because there was no way they were going to last 10 years. I appreciated the honesty but I’d much rather they make quality products.

It'd be nice if they lasted longer from an environmental standpoint too. I don't need a fridge with a screen on the front. I want it to keep my food cold.

I like nice stuff, don't get me wrong, but I'm not someone that has to change things out every 3 years to get the latest and greatest. I feel that way about a lot of stuff that goes into cars, too. It drives up the prices and yes, it's "cool" but isn't really necessary. My FIL (a car salesman) and I have debated about this a time or two

When I saw this at Lowe’s last year I eyerolled so hard. Why do we need a fridge with an actual big ass touch screen?? Is it going to talk to us about what’s inside and meal plan for us and give us cooking directions, too??

Now if that thing cooked healthy meals for me too I'd drop another grand in a heartbeat. But a touchscreen? For what?

Also one more surface to clean...and I’m sure you can’t use a stainless steel wipe (or whatever you use on the rest of the fridge).
