flamingo - S has been riding his bike past 2 of his best friends houses almost daily and most of the time they will come out and chat for a bit (from far away). It's sweet.

I just went to Costco. It was my first trip out since March 16th. It was well controlled and I scored a bottle of Tylenol (and a bottle of tequila) that I have been searching for for weeks. The only cleaning products were those Mrs. Meyers sprays but I got them because I’m desperate. I’ve never worn a mask before and it kept poking me in the eyes. Stopped for dog food and the pet store made me stand at the door and yell what I needed to the guy working. Now I’m waiting for a pizza delivery.
DD is sad all the 5K’s she wanted to run have been canceled so I told her maybe I would attempt to do our own with her this weekend. Last night, she and I did homemade face mask spa night.

Just had a parent meeting with the baby's teachers and they wanted to remind us that they have 3 zoom sessions a day. And that we should upload pictures for them for their parent teacher conferences. Lolz. I told them I have a job, two other kids, and no childcare, so I will continue to try to call in once a day...if I can. Meanwhile N's school isn't charging us, the teachers actually mailed care packages that had prob 25 printed pictures of her from school, a nice note, and some treasures (Dried flowers, seeds). And created a website with activities for us to do if we want. And we also have virtual aftercare now for j and even little league started something..cannot keep up! Lol no to K’s three meetings a day...is that someone’s idea of a joke?? Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor... I get that they are trying to justify that they made us pay 75% of tuition for the month I guess? It's a sunk cost at this point, no need to make us feel guilty.

Of course as soon as I tell you all that we’ve got a nice groove going and the school said they won’t change to the platform, we get an email that they’ll be adding freckle to our line up. Anyone use it?

The past two days of the refrigerator debacle has drained me mentally. Just adding that to the mix has done me in. Makes me wonder how people with way more to worry about are getting through day to day. 😞
It’s my weekend to work, so I just have to get through two more days and I’ll be off for 5 days.

C has a live lesson through Zoom with his whole class daily, a live “specials” class (like music), and a live closing meeting. Once a week he has small groups so the teacher with three students teaching new material. Every Monday he has ELA and Tuesday Math. It’s cool he sees his class so much but logging in 3+ times a day sucks. He can do it himself but doesn’t want to so I have to refocus him.

lahdeedah the last guy we had out told me to look for something simple when we are ready to buy new. I'll still want a french, so I asked him about whirlpool and he said that's what he recommends. He said stay away from Samsung and LG. Could just be what he prefers to work on, but it matches my research. We will buy Whirlpool when its time.

Evie's class hasn't done any kind of virtual class. She talks to her teacher on the phone once a week and they are writing each other letters.
I told her this weekend she needs to make her teacher a birthday card. She needs to make another card for a girl in her class, but I'm trying to figure out how to approach it.
TW....
The mom of one of the girls in her class passed away from cancer last week.

cagoldi, would something like the ez panda home gym (I’m Butchering the name)help x? It folds up and allows for climbing, ring swinging and sliding. kim22, looked up the pipe works and I bet my kids would love them or something similar. lahdeedah, so glad the ordeal is over. I hate stuff like this— small but annoying and it just stays in your head for far too long.

H had only had the one google meet so far. Her teacher said she was planning to do it again but she hasn’t put out an email about it yet. It was chaos, so hopefully next time is a bit more organized. mwhip that’s so sad.

I got notice today that our swing set arrived at the store so DH went to get it. It sure is taking him a long time. He better be back soon because the sun is setting. The girls are driving me nuts today so I’m ready to go lock myself in my room when he gets home.

Yeah, I kind of think the more technology we cram into these appliances, the higher the probability that something goes wrong. My parents' garage fridge is probably 35 years old and still works great. I do not think a fridge made now would last that long, generally speaking. When we had the new dishwasher installed recently, the owner of the appliance company told me to avoid Samsung and LG too. His personal favorite is KitchenAid.

flamingo Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool are owned by the same company. Kitchen Aid is their top of the line, Whirlpool is next. The handles on the newest KA do not match our other handles, the Whirlpool does, so that's why it's my decision. I've met the mom a few times and had no idea she was going through anything. When she got really sick during the beginning of the CV, someone posted a GoFundMe on the school PTO page and I felt terrible...I wish I had known so I could have done more.

And yes to the fancy appliances with screens in the doors and stuff. Our garage/beer fridge I bought probably 10 years ago and it's still going fine. It cost me $300. It isnt pretty, but when the POS $3000 fridge ices over, that cheap thing keeps my food cold!

That's what I was thinking (the KA/Whirlpool connection). My parents have KA and are happy; they need a weird wall oven/microwave size and KA is one of the few that makes it. The house we're buying has all Samsung. They're definitely on the newer side but preparing myself for the fridge to go at some point, ha. It's the same model we bought for our old house, which completely died 6 months after we moved--it was about 3 y.o. :/ Re: the mom, maybe they were trying to keep it on the quiet side? Or it came up suddenly? That's nice that someone did a GFM for their family.

DH grilled brats for dinner and went and got us DQ Blizzards after the kids went to bed. It's the little things, right? I think most other ice cream shops are closed here but b/c DQ sells food I guess they can stay open.
We started Ozark last night and were planning to watch more tonight, but The Martian is on and oddly enough I love that movie so we're watching it instead.

I view it as the former as a way to stay connected, which I think is fine for older kids, but this is the baby room! I suspect the admin expects people to be joining and getting metrics on participation so the teachers are feeling pressure. I'm nervous that they aren't going to make us pay and they may be getting furloughed next month though. What a crappy situation. I wish we could be like other countries that just pay salaries so businesses can stay afloat. If they go under, we will be screwed once we are supposed to go back to work.

I was looking at an LG side by side. I don’t want anything fancy at all because I agree, but after having the French door with the freezer at the bottom for almost a year, I don’t love it at all. The kids are constantly in it and it’s so hard to keep it organized. I feel like stuff gets lost at the bottom and I have to dig to see what I actually have. I’ll check out whirlpool and Kitchenaid. Is It GE whirlpool or is whirlpool a brand by itself??

We have the worlds oldest ovens in our house. And they work beautifully. For aesthetic purposes I know that we will want to get new ones at some point, but I am so impressed with what workhorses the old appliances are.

When we bought our house, it came with a brown Kenmore fridge with the freezer on the bottom but it wasn’t a drawer, it was a door so I had to sit on the floor to see what was in the back. We now have a side by side counter depth because our kitchen is small. It’s not good for a family of 6.

I hate most of the new fridge designs. Double doors on top is so stupid. I dont want to have to open two doors, then pull put a huge drawer to get a slice of cheese. The lower freezers usually seem like they waste space and would be hard to organize with the way many are designed. Overall too many drawers and doors.
