My electrician guy only works on commercial refrigerators, called another place and their first availability it Tuesday. 😩 He said he has been getting a lot of calls lately. I had to come in to work today to fill in, and coworker told me to check the coils for dust, so MH will do that while I’m here. I’m about to call another company. My question is would you go 4-5 days without a cold refrigerator? Is my milk and eggs still good with the temp at 58 degrees? My google search says milk shouldn’t be kept above 40. If you have a cooler I would employ the use of that until your fridge is fixed.

I love all the pastries. Cream puffs were my favorite when I was a kid.

Some a choux pastry filled with all kinds of flavours, some are Mille feuille, some are indeed just slices of cake, some are wrapped in marsepein and some are puff pastry shells that are filled with fruit. You often buy a assortment to bring to work on your birthday or something, so everyone can pick what they like . All the choux and the Millie feuille, I would call pastries. I’ve never been a fan of choux— you can have my cream puffs and eclairs. I don’t even really like a cannoli. Tarts and pies first. Cake and cookies second. Agree with all of this. Where does cheesecake fit in? I do love cheesecake.

Ooh that seems high lahdeedah. If you can't get a repairman sooner, is there an appliance rental place like Aaron's or RAC near you? Or what about buying a mini fridge? You can get one for under $100, maybe even find a used one on FB? Just brainstorming...

I saw a desert poll on Twitter the other day that asked if you had to choose one to never eat again, which one? Choices pound cake, red velvet cake, sweet potato pie, and cheesecake. The reply I saw said ‘Bye Cheesecake! Don’t let the crust hit you on the way out!’ I laughed. I’m not a sweet potato pie eater, so that was my pick. I did have a cheesecake tart from a French cuisine restaurant on Easter that was sub par. It just wasn’t good. I was disappointed. It made me want to make that cheesecake that kim22 gave the recipe for.

If I can’t find a sooner appointment, it will no longer be a joke.

That doesn’t seem cold enough, lahdeedah. I like flamingo’s thought about looking for a cheap one in the interim.

I like pumpkin cheesecake, bread, etc., though. Subpar cheesecake is disappointing. They can't be too dry/crumbly, and and it needs to be the right ratio of 'crust' to cheesecake.

No cannoli?! It’s one of my faves. Maybe I’ll see if Dude wants to try his hand at that soon. Next week we are making chicken lettuce cups and dandelion honey. Have to think of some crafty things. He saw a couple of my spell bottles and thought they were cool so maybe we’ll let him do some of those. Spell bottles? You put in a combination of oil, spices, flowers or herbs, salt, a note, crystals, etc. based on what the intention is. Seal with wax (colored). Similar to these: He has helped me make spell candles before. This is Armani hanging out next to his dream protection candle:

And the crust needs to be crumbly with a bite to it, not soggy.

In comes Flamingo, weighing in on the important stuff...dessert.
Hello. We had yet another showing this morning, and since then 3 more have been booked, so that'll be TEN for the week (M-F). Honestly I'm shocked, but there is so little for rent/sale here.
The realtor this morning tee'd me off b/c she showed up at 9:15 for a 10 a.m. appt and backed into our driveway right up to the garage door. I walked out and was like, "Can I help you?" She confirmed the address and said she had a appt to view it with a client. I was like, Yes, it's at 10. She goes, "Well I like to be 30 minutes early." I said, "Well, you're 45 minutes early, and I'm going to have to pull out of my garage with my dog and kids." So she moved out to the street. I was polite, but sheesh!
Then at 9:30 the client pulls up! Wth. I hate having people waiting outside like that, it makes me feel rushed and flustered even though I know i'm "in the right". This happened when we sold our house in FL once or twice and it drove me crazy. So today I took my time and got us all out at 9:45 like I would do normally.

I love it as a dip for fruit and I love it as a filling inside of a cake but I can’t get with the crispy shell. I put my hand upon your hip When I dip, you dip, we dip You're welcome. Sorry. I'm a jerk. I know it’s a different song, but for some reason this got me singing “Tootsie Roll” in my head and now I can’t stop hearing the 69 Boyz saying “You over there, with the long hair, keep working that derrière.”

Goodbye pound cake! So boring. Although my parents used to grill or griddle theirs and put fruit and whipped cream or ice cream on it. That was always fun.

flamingo, I think cheesecake is in its own category. I’m picky about mine. I don’t like it too dense. I prefer a softer texture and I don’t want fruit on top of it.

Ooh there I will have to disagree, I do love strawberry topping on cheesecake. My mom makes a layered dessert in parfait glasses with blueberries/syrup, cheesecake filling and cheesecake 'crust' that is delicious.. That sounds good right about now!

flamingo, What are the protocols really estate agents have to follow in a mostly quarantined society? Shoes off? No touching? Gloves? Masks? Our real estate agent posted on Facebook that she was saddened the real estate market was deemed essential and she would not be showing houses unless someone wanted to see one virtually.

lahdeedah I would definitely throw away anything you think might make you sick, dairy products, any meat. Condiments are probably okay. When our fridge was one the fritz, I'm pretty sure spoiled coffee cream was not necessarily making me sick, but it was giving me stomach issues until I finally figured it out. I wouldn't risk it again. Last time we remotely thought out was getting warm, I moved everything to our garage fridge. I would go purchase a new one that you love, then move the old one to your garage and then determine if the cost is worth it. I have dumped hundreds into keeping ours running and I regret it. Next time I have to make a $300+ service call, I'm just telling H we are getting a new one. What style of fridge do you have? Is it a french? If so, our coil freezes all the time, which is our issue, because they let in moisture, freezing up, then making the air not circulate from below. If you take everything out, you can usually tell by behind the bottom drawers, if there is ice inside it (that's at least where ours is visible at). The last time, the tech told me to take everything out, including the freezer portion, open it up overnight, unplug it and let it thaw. Put towels on the floor around it because the ice has to go somewhere and its a LOT. In about 12 hours, you should be able to plug it back in.

I typed all that out putting off calling my OB. I had an appointment Monday for my annual pap. She never calls me, it's usually her nurse to tell me everything is fine. So I don't really want to hear what she has to say and I'm kind of scared.

Yesterday I was telling my sister about my delicious kombucha and chia seed pudding and she informed me that I “eat the nastiest shit.”😂

I made a delcious, easy double lemon cheesecake for Easter. It was so good, I had some while I was reading you all talking about desserts.
And I called my dr. Slightly abnormal pap, not as bad as I've had before. She read some numbers to me that didn't mean much and said we didn't need to do anything this year, so I can still wait another year.

lahdeedah, that sucks about the fridge! I'm definitely in the mindset of saving as much as possible right now given the uncertainty ahead so I totally get you not wanting to buy a new one if you can help it!

Y'all know I'm picky about my cheesecake. I don't want any syrups or any fruit on it.
Now, whole foods makes a berry chantilly cake that I'll eat the shit out of, but get the berries off my cheesecake.

To be clear, I'll still eat cheesecake with fruit/syrups on it because cheesecake. But I prefer not to eat it that way.
