They are still only doing the olds and healthcare workers here. But apparently you can get notified by Walgreens when it opens up to others, so I signed up for text alerts.

I unblinded from my trial earlier in the week because I was able to get a vax appointment, which I promptly canceled because I officially got the real vaccine back in November! That's awesome! And you got both doses?

I got vax appointments for my parents for next week!!!! I don’t think I realized how much weight that really was carrying on me. Can you go with them and get vaccinated too? I remember hearing that that was a thing in your state.

And you got both doses? I’m in the J&J trial, which was only one dose. They’re trialing a two dose version, so there may be boosters in the future if it does well, but the one dose version is supposed to get EUA by the end of the month

Welp. My parents vaccines just got canceled due to weather and power outages. They do not plan to reschedule specifically for the folks who got canceled on. They just go back in line with everyone else. Sigh.

I’m at the peak of my quarantine boredom today and I’m so irritated. My wrist hurts from embroidering/knitting/crafting. My house is the cleanest it’s been in a year. I don’t know what to do with myself.
I’ve been trying to get the kids outside for 2 hours now and just wrestled the iPad away from E and now they’re happily playing with hot wheels.

It took exactly 3 weeks for us to get a mass email about a positive case at school.
So now we play the waiting game for them to contact trace.

From our experience, by the time they send that mass informational email, they've already done contact tracing and already separately informed anyone that needs to quarantine.

M’s school is going hybrid in mid April, but I think we’re just going to keep her home. Without after school running we couldn’t really do pick up. I’m kind of wondering what’s the point with like two months of school left. I think when they do go back, it will be a difficult transition for her.

Ours are super clear about how it's just an informational email to be transparent, and that anyone needing to isolate have been contacted separately

Yeah, that seems kinda pointless this late in the school year.

You will receive an email if you need to quarantine. No time frame or statement of you should have already received an email.

Plus this is putting us in a bind with F. We sent her to daycare because the first contact would have been yesterday. No one will be contagious today or even have symptoms until next week.
But do I just assume we are good on Monday?
I want to be notified within 24 hours or less if my kid was in that classroom.

Yea our alerts via email say clearly YOUR CHILD WAS NOT A CONTACT.
And supposedly you get a phone call if they were. And you wouldn't get that email.

And that email from them is bonkers. Our first email from the school about a positive case was only nominally better though. It was all "There was a positive case at the school...." On social media I found out that the affected people had already been contacted prior to the email. By the second email they were super clear about it though. I'm guessing they got parent feedback.

I had to read it twice. We didn’t email back cause I’m sure they got a ton of responses. I will be very surprised if I don’t receive a follow up before end of day.

Really feeling the weight of everything today. I could dear diary a whole thing but the crux of it is— I’m so exhausted in every way from being in survival mode 24/7.

I just realized that if M is in school for 4 more weeks, she will have been in-person in school longer than she ever has before. What an insane start to her school career.
ETA: The weather today is giving me acute memories of the days that we went into lockdown last year and how scary it all was.

I got an email from our GIrl Scout leader asking about our thoughts on in-person meetings in a building. I’m a co-leader. It’s at a church, plenty of space, and they aren’t doing services.
I’m torn. The leader and other co-leader have gotten their shots. We haven’t seen family since the very brief visit in October for the funeral. And now we are waiting on my FIL to get his second shot to even consider going in late March.
The kids will be going back 4 full-time days in March.
Am I making a bigger deal than I should?
I just don’t know if I should be around 15 girls. My anxiety about this is at a 10 and I have no idea how to answer.

Do you think other families will feel the same and not show up?
Are the girls used to social distancing (I'm guessing not too much if they haven't been in in-person school)?

The girls social distance okay, but it’s like any classroom. There are always 4 or 5 of them with masks that don’t fit properly. And we need to break them of the snack habit. These kids can’t seem to go an hour without food. I should probably get over it and just double mask it.

We got a message shortly before we leave for gymnastics yesterday that there was a positive covid case on our team. They said because our group wears masks (the only group in the gym that does) that they wouldn't require anyone else but the one confirmed positive case to quarantine. Guess who wasn't at practice yesterday. The coach. Good thing he's diligent about mask wearing too. Hopefully that will be the only case. Also, hopefully he has a super mild case and gets a negative test soon. If he has to stay out a full 14 days, he'll miss our home meet.
On the other hand, he's a nice guy, but kind of lax as a coach. The boys do a lot better when the other coaches are covering the class.

This is 100% not how it is properly handled in my neck of the woods. Everyone exposed within 6 ft for 15 min or more with the positive case quarantines. Masks or not.
