DS started having the sniffles/cough since last night. Exactly two weeks ago was that birthday party he went to. I am a mess. He doesn't have a temperature & he went to camp today so I can't help but spiral.

So my fully vaccinated MS having mother in law tested positive on Friday. Guess who has been around her unmasked since we are vaccinated too. I was moving on and saying we have to go back to life and now I’m back to Oh cool Oh no, I hope you all stay healthy! This is a big concern of mine and my sister decided to spring an unexpected overnight trip to our house for stupid reasons on me and I'm concerned for all the kids now.

Both H and I have gotten calls about possible exposure since my MIL and FIL had to tell the department who they were in close contact with.
My MIL was at the viewing for my GMIL and they did not need those people's numbers though because she wore a mask just due to her MS anyway and even when she didn't she wasn't with anyone for over 15 minutes.

I was moving on and saying we have to go back to life and now I’m back to Oh cool Oh no!! On the plus side they do say that the vaccine is supposed to interrupt the transmission even if someone who is vaccinated does still get it. Fingers crossed its a mild case for her and the transmission stops with her. I am wondering if this is the Delta they got. My FIL is not vaccinated so we are assuming he brought it to her because he was pretty bad, but we haven't been around him. DD had a cough for 2 days but no fever and now when I called her doctor today he said that since her cough and nose have cleared and no fever just follow the 10 day protocol so we have until Thursday to quarantine. H and I yesterday had a slight throat tickle but by last night it was gone so it may have been just us being extra sensitive to feelings.

I was not thinking anything of it and I am so mad at myself. We have been so careful with dd. H had to work outside the home so he couldn't be not going places, but we stayed vigilant and of course she caught it from the one grandparent I didn't think she would ever get it from.

Try not to beat yourself up, although I would probably do the same. You have been cautious, it's not like you were making a bunch of crazy unsafe choices.

I kept her from my mom a lot over the last year and a half because she is not safe. At least she is now also vaccinated
I can't wait for the 10 and younger group to get vaccines

Same, we're just starting to see family again since everyone eligible is vaccinated, but I'll feel much better when my younger 2 can get vaxxed too

I've been going in a few smaller places, like our local pizza place and our uncrowded Starbucks, without a mask (still wearing one at the grocery store), and I went out to dinner for the first time Friday.
Of course, now I've convinced myself I'm getting sick. I love anxiety disorder.

I scheduled an overnight trip to Great Wolf Lodge for DS and me the first week of August for his birthday, but I'm seriously considering cancelling. I'm just too paranoid about him getting sick.

While I know every kid reacts different. Really any person, but my kid has been very very mild. Like if I didn't know she was exposed I would have thought allergies. I know that doesn't make him catching it and your anxiety any better but Just wanted to say that.

We didn’t get her tested but her grandparents she came in In contact with (mil vaccinated) tested positive and dd had the same symptoms so we are a presumed case. We could test her if we wanted but by the time we knew their Covid results DD’s symptoms were gone so we are just going on their plan that she has it and isolating the 10 days from last Sunday

Anyone worried about the numbers? My county is very low. 7 day average looks to be 1 but there were 3 cases reported yesterday. As of now I'm not too worried about it but we're still not doing much outside of racing or visiting our parents. We are going on vacation with my parents to Florida but we are driving straight through and staying in a condo with a private beach so not exactly overly social there either.

Anyone worried about the numbers? I’m nervous. We go back home to the city this weekend to have the baby baptized after mass. I don’t want to be in church with all these people (even masked) but feel like an ass if we skip it and just have her baptized after everyone else leaves.

I'm curious if anyone has heard news from their school district?
Ours got sent out today. Masks are recommended but not mandatory. Back to full time in person & no online option.

I have not heard anything about local districts. I'm assuming full time in person no online unless they have to switch later on.

The districts around us are not doing online and are mask recommended not required except the big one that we would be sending dd too if she went to the one according to our home. I am assuming our school will follow the no online no masking

Well our county just put out a recommendation that schools wear masks so we will see if that changes.

Our school district is only recommending, not requiring. The party line from the district is that they will follow the local health departments recommendations, but the local health department only has authority to recommend not require. It’s a political hot potato.

Ours is masks optional, no online option. People in my small town were screaming mad about the possibility of their kids having to wear masks. They went to the school board meeting and are attacking sane people on FB trying to explain the risks, etc. DH said even if masks are optional at school, they have to be required in the bus per federal law. It’s on the cdc website and his district and others around here have said the same thing. So I posted on our fb page asking and a school board member had no idea this was a thing and didn’t have an answer. I hate our district. It’s run by people who have no clue what they’re doing, at least 2 board members are very vocal on the town fb page saying Covid is a hoax and anti-mask, anti-vaccine. It’s so fucking ridiculous. I’m so glad DS is old enough to be vaccinated but I worry about the younger kids. ETA: They just sent out an email and said masks aren’t required on busses because per ODOT, school buses aren’t considered public transportation. I would think the federal law supersedes state law, correct? And all the other districts around here who are larger and more on top of things are citing the federal law stating masking on buses is required. www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/face-masks-public-transportation.html?fbclid=IwAR35nMY3G2MXYWTXOZjF5jY9WY5n9PVTIlCRZNOzjwU8rVkYjcLNYJJDCp8Are masks required on school buses? Yes, passengers and drivers must wear a mask on school buses, including on buses operated by public and private school systems, subject to the exclusions and exemptions in CDC’s Order. Operators of school buses should refer to the Department of Education’s COVID-19 Handbook pdf icon[PDF – 27 pages]external icon for additional guidance. A driver does not need to wear a mask if they are the only person on the bus.

And now I’m in a fight with a school board member on FB about it. He keeps saying it’s not a requirement even though the document states it is. He took a screenshot of a different page about masks to “prove” his point. So I of course took a screenshot of page 5 that states it’s required and asked if the district is just picking a choosing which paragraphs they’re going to follow. And he cited the 10th amendment and that his friend at a different district isn’t requiring them. FFS dude. It’s also listed as a requirement on the Ohio Dept Health school guidance that just came out (page 5). coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/responsible/schools/K-12-Schools-Guidance.pdf

betty I think there are some other states that are trying to ignore the requirement to mask on busses too (maybe one of the Carolinas?). I'm really curious if that's going to blow up
