Look, I know when they say teachers that they mean K-12 so kids can get back to school, but can maybe the college staff get in on this round of vaccines? Please? When you register it just asks what field you are in and education is not broken out into levels.

When you register it just asks what field you are in and education is not broken out into levels. This is interesting, because when I went into my county registry last week, the only options were "health care", "congregate settings" and "county resident." Today when I went in, there's a whole bunch of options. I just re-registered under "School personnel" so hopefully that will work.

221k Ohioans have received the vaccines. For most hospitals next weeks vaccine should take care of first responders and front line workers in that hospital system and finish up the 1a phase. Some will continue in especially for second shots
1B - on 1/19, vaccinations will be available to those 80+ years old in general population. 420-450k people. We should be receiving 100k doses every week for 3-4 weeks. Will be given by local health depts, health centers, physicians, in home health, some retail pharmacies. 700 providers currently registered to give vaccines but not all will get doses right now. This coming Monday will be a webinar for providers. Tuesday they will notify the providers who have been selected to get vaccines the first week and how much they’re getting. On Wednesday and Thursday they’re asking every county emergency agency to announce where vaccines are available and when via press conference. On Thursday there will be an online tool to see who is distributing vaccine to which groups of people that will be continually updated. Vaccines are normally delivered on M-W each week from manufacturers. If a provider receives it on a Monday they’ll begin to vaccinate Tuesday and so on.
Each week we’ll add 5 years of age to the eligibility list. So the week of 1/25 will be available to 75 year olds, etc
The whole 1B group is 2.2 million people.

1/25 severe congenital medical disorders. Will announce how these people can get a vaccination next week.
2/1 - begin to vaccinate school personnel. This week they are sending forms to superintendents to sign and agree that their schools will be open in person or hybrid 3/1 if not already. If they sign they’ll be able to get the vaccine for their employees. Also asking schools to send them the # of vaccines they need and if they already have a partner set up for the vaccine.

Hmm... this math isn’t adding up. So 100k doses for the next 3-4 weeks but there’s 2.2M people in this group including teachers. If schools state they will be back in person by 3/1... what if the teachers are unable to get the vaccine due to supply constraints?

A reporter just asked him about the vaccine numbers vs # people aren’t adding up. DeWine said we will continue to bank second shots for the nursing homes at the manufacturer. A second vaccination is guaranteed for those people. And we’ll be continuing to fill and draw from that bank and numbers available for 1B will go up. Or something. I don’t understand what he’s saying.

Reporter question- Have you calculated if there’s enough to vaccinate all school staff by 3/1 to meet your deadline? Says we think there will be enough for them to get the first shot by 3/1.
Translation-We’re flying by the seat of our pants, crossing our fingers that it works out.

We're about two weeks post Christmas, right? Seems about right. Yep. I say we see an increase until at least February with people going back to work this week after New Years

Reporter question about daycare staff- The sole rationale for allowing school staff to be in 1B is to open K-12 schools. So daycare and preschool staff are not included in 1B.

I’m just hoping to be vaccinated by mid year. Before would be great, but there are so many more with more need than me.

The first shot gives like 50% I think. Yeah no good enough for me And it takes about 2 weeks to build immunity, so realistically 5-6 weeks total for the 94-95% depending on which shot you get

Everyone keeps talking about schools returning to in person in March but ummm local schools here have been in person all year. One district did announce they would do 2 weeks remote after Christmas break but then back to their hybrid model. Other schools, to my knowledge, have remained face to face the whole time.

All here have been at least hybrid until Thanksgiving where they have gone virtual but all have gone back either this week or dd's goes back to hybrid next week so I agree. What else does he want.

I still think they should be working to vaccinate everyone and not force them to go back in March though. He is way too idealistic.

Yes he has been saying this since they went back so why then are we forcing them to go back and get the vaccine? Not saying they shouldn’t get it they should but not if they can’t get both doses and not if it’s taking from hospital workers/ first responders and grocery workers where it is spreading

Yep, I think every school in Stark Co has been face to face 5 days a week this school year. DS’s district made the middle school and high school kids remote 2 weeks before Xmas and everyone remote after Xmas. They all go back 1/19.

We’ve been hybrid all year thus far. However I know large districts like Columbus City schools and Cleveland schools have been virtual since last March. H’s school was hybrid and then went virtual. He’ll find out next week if they’ll go back to hybrid or stay virtual.
