My mom said Cadence could stay as long as we need her to if her school closed. I would rather not go to work, though, so if the school is closed beyond spring break I'll just stay home. Especially since my officemate said she would just bring her kids to the office. Um, no thanks to that.

Our schools are closed until April 13th.
No announcement for DC yet, but they follow the district so I’m reasonably certain that will be coming too.

Did all the cleaning here too vino. Felt good. I also designated the laundry room sink as where everyone needs to wash when they first come in from out of the house. Makes it easier to know where to focus with disinfecting.

I'm also going to set up my laptop as a school station for the girls. Their district has a couple online programs they use (Prodigy, Starfall).
My guess is ABC Mouse will get a lot of new memberships. I'm not going to go there yet though.

Schools just closed “until further notice.” 17 years of teaching has not prepared me to homeschool 3 kids while chasing a toddler, teaching my students online, and having DH working from home.
Also, if anyone knows of therapy for someone who hoards frozen chopped meat, I just inventoried my basement freezer and I apparently have a problem. We will survived on meatballs and hamburgers.

I printed out the wow in the world worksheets to accompany their podcasts. And N's school has the teachers working remote and will be emailing us suggestions of activities..and sent goody bags home with stuff.
PBS kids just sent out an email about a daily newsletter with activities and such.
I plan to try to put together a loose schedule to keep our week days organized.. like outside time, snack, art, reading, TV. I can't let it be all over the place like sick days, bc no one will survive.

tallb A friend and I were saying the same thing about a loose schedule. Guess we're going to figure out if I have the chops for homeschooling, ha (for the record, I'm guessing I do not ) B's teacher sent home 2 weeks' worth of lesson plans with supplemental materials and supplies. I did grab some new play-doh and some other odds and ends at Target today DH and I are watching the Tom Hanks/Mr. Rogers movie tonight and eating ice cream.

Yeah I’m not sure how I’m supposed to lead my kids education while I work. I guess I’ll find out. Next week is considered our Spring break so at least I have some time to adjust. Right now we are sending him to daycare Monday and I’m teleworking all week. Dh can telework Tuesday and Thursday so we can share the load those day’s. I’m going to be so sick of these people!

I try to break the day into three hour chunks— you have to eat, play, watch a little tv, read, and create. It helped me to get through some of those longer winter days when I had both kids home. I’ll do something similar to that for the at home work. Right now we were only given 3 books, 3 magazines, about ten math word problems, and a handwriting book. I did about 30 minutes with Josie this morning, and she just wanted to keep going. Apparently girl loves her homework (this is the first time she’s had any!)

I just ordered some workbooks from Amazon. Warning--they are selling out fast. MH and I came up with a rough schedule for the girls. The mornings they will take turns with academic apps on the computer and their workbooks. Lunch/recess. Afternoons will be things like science experiments, art, music. We'll make up our own TKD classes. Feels good to have a plan. We might go on some hikes.
My work has given no guidance on working from home.

What's funny is I completely forgot that I have a degree in teaching and actually taught K for a year😂. Now that I remember this, I prob could actually do okay, it's the 6 month old, 3 year old, and full time job that is cramping my urge to dust off my teaching hat.

It’s great you guys have plans!! Nice work.
I’m actually excited a little bit to try this wfh thing, we’ll be getting access next week. We’ve been told that if at any time we’re uncomfortable being at work then off we go. I’ll be driving for the next little while as well, I cannot go down with this thing with MH away. My actual job is a definite forced interest for me but I’m so, so grateful for my team.

L was on his best behavior today and going to bed. It was probably one of the easiest bedtime routines with him since I had E. Fingers crossed that this becomes the new norm.
