Smokey just responded to my email (since head partner decided to forward it to the whole firm) commenting on how she is constantly washing her hands because of her sick husband. She is full of shit. I sit by the freaking bathroom. There is no way she can piss and wash her hands in 10 seconds flat. Half the time she doesn't even bother to flush. At the end of the email she said, "I hope I don't loose my puppy to this virus". That's right folks, she is more concern about her dog than her husband who is on a respirator. I need to find somewhere else to work. Long wow.

Ok- our state officials just held a press co Terence and the state health officer recommended that school districts not close, just cancel events with large gatherings and the elderly should not attend large gatherings.
Let’s hope the districts take his advice for now. That means our schools fun run will be canceled. Good thing I have not paid our $75 yet. I’m sure the PTO will come up with something else though.

I think it's to prevent the spread. If they carry it home to grandma or grandpa, or mom who is immunocompromised. Teachers, staff, volunteers can all get it. Essentially, they are hoping, I assume, that with schools closed you then stay at home and prevent the spread. I guess so, but with everything else still open and probably at least 1 parent still working and going in and out of the house it still keeps things circulating. Also these responses are too late in most communities. They waited until it probably already spread a lot. I heard an interview with an infectious disease specialist who said that 38% of nurses have children in school. Close schools, nurses can’t care for patients. Doesn’t make much sense to keep them home at this point, IMO.

I have heard a lot of coverage about why the US is uniquely poised to handle this terribly compared to other countries, because we lack universal healthcare, affordable child care, and paid sick leave. Our economy is set up to actively encourage sick people to keep working. It's depressing, to say the least.

Hi.
I’ve not been around and haven’t caught up.
I have felt like total hell since Monday. Fevers all day, horrible coughing at night. Like so bad I am seriously concerned about fracturing a rib.
Negative for flu A and B, no RSV.
Not sure what to make of it so I’m laying low for a bit.
Obviously, I would get tested if that were an option but since nobody can seem to get access to tests...🤷♀️

Hey. I totally forgot to check in yesterday, it was a busy day. I had my 24w check up, chiro appt and a work meeting. S had donuts with dad so dh was home all day. Then I took H to dance in the afternoon, S stayed home. We have like 8 cases in our state, one for sure is in a town close by so they decided to cancel the st paddy’s day parade. I’m super bummed. In good news though, the mayor announced that we will be getting a CFA finally!! Probably won’t be open till end of year or early next year as they have to demolish what’s currently on the lot and then build their building. Chipotle and longhorn steakhouse are both going into the same area too. Today has consisted of laundry and picking up. I’ll be making S lunch in a few minutes and then it’ll be nap/quiet time. I have to work tonight so we will see what kind of changes they’ve made at the hospital since Tuesday. cagoldi that sounds awful, I’m sorry. I hope you and inthekitty can get tested and feel better soon.

My ED has been off all week for family stuff and apparently came in on a rampage this morning, and now everyone has to get their shit together to do test days of working form home. Which, I get it, it is not an entirely bad idea but moving someone that was already scheduled for a couple weeks from now to Monday is a asking a little much. Anyways, my director is in there now hopefully calming him down. This is how panic happens, when leaders do shit like this. Stop, analyze, plan and activate the plan then make amendments as needed.
I cannot with some people and the hysteria.

Does Pete have the kids? He has them tonight through Sunday. So for now I’m just going to rest, drink all the tea, and hibernate. I hate when the kids leave but this is the first time I’ve ever been glad about it. I feel so run down I can barely function so I desperately need a few days to do nothing but nurse my lungs.

Head partner came into my office to discuss my email. In essence we should just pray about it and everything will be fine. I'm not shitting you, that was his take away from it all. WTF?? This attitude pisses me off. Yes, in the end most people will be fine. A lot will get sick but a lot will recover. But it sure would suck to be among the 5% who don't recover so it doesn't hurt to take extra precautions to protect the vulnerable. I put it in the same category as "I didn't use a car seat when I was 5 and I made it out alive" mentality. Well good for you. Little Johnny and Susie died because they weren't either but they're not here to share an anecdote. Survivor bias. Also, re: the schools closing, if that happens here I would be okay with taking in a couple friends kids during work hours, or offering to help out some of the DC parents since I’m home all the time, but I’d like to know I am not transmitting anything.

Exciting about the offer. flamingo This is the one that isn’t listed yet right? Hope it goes in your favor! Right...they're also a Navy family and are moving to the west coast once school is out. Listings are rare in this particular 'hood and when they come up, they sell fast. So we're hoping we can beat everyone else to the punch! Of course I went to book my flight and prices were up $200 over last night when I looked, argh. Dh still thinks I should go but I'm wondering if I can get away with sending my mom and an iPhone, lol.

cagoldi I hope you feel better soon. I went to Walgreens at lunch for a prescription and the toilet paper aisle was pretty bare. There was no hand sanitizer and they don't know when they will have more. The big state colleges have closed here and the KC St Patricks Day parade is cancelled. My boss said any gathering expected to draw more than 1000 people is being cancelled. H and I were texting about it. I guess we are going to the store tonight to stock up on non-perishables, just in case. After this is all done, I'll just donate to the food pantry. This is insane.

My parents are going to be selling their house very soon. And word of mouth has already gotten out. They have 2 different people looking to buy it already and they still haven't gotten it appraised yet. One of the couples is an 80 year old couple with a CASH offer! So they are hoping that they can come to an agreement on price and it would make the whole process sooo much easier. They are hoping to get the appraisal next week.

Target is cleaned out though. At this point I would be making sure to get prescription meds to whatever extent possible. Our pharmacy ops teams are in a panic over RX drugs because many are manufactured on China and there’s been an obvious supply chain disruption.

Ugh, cagoldi I'm so sorry. My symptoms have been weird and changing about every 1.5 days. I had a really bad cough Tuesday in which I think I pulled a muscle, but it's thankfully not as persistent today. My clinic changed their standard memo basically saying to stay home if you think you have Covid-19 so I went in today. At first it seemed like they had their shit together and testing plan in place. But I was routed first to Urgent Care and then to Primary Care. I waited over an hour (you'd think they'd want to swab people and get them out of there) and then was told since I don't currently have a fever I don't meet criteria and won't be tested. I said this means I'd be returning to work and quit self-quarantining. The doctor urged me to for a few more days. I don't have an endless stock of sick leave. Since people can have it without any sxs I don't know why they didn't test me. It's hit my city. So I'm frustrated but don't feel I have other options at this point.

For those looking for sanitizer, places are out here, but I bought some wet ones antibacterial hand wipes to keep in the cars and bags. Those were still fully stocked last weekend.

The house we're looking at, the family has 5 children (and FTR, this house is pristine...I'm convinced the mom is Superwoman) so I'm hopeful they would also like to avoid the showing process. They gave our realtor the price they will list at and it's very fair so we plan to go in with full price offer assuming everything goes ok next week.
