Morning!
Thanks, everyone, for the hair pats, etc. last night.
Not too much going on today. The new dishwasher is supposedly being delivered this morning, and this afternoon after school we have a play date at B’s friend’s home. They have two younger daughters who should be good playmates for C, too.

klong11 I hope your procedure goes quickly this morning and you're home relaxing in no time! tgrimes I hope the kids are feeling better today! Nothing different here today. Evie did tell me last night that she's going to marry a boy in her class. She said she told him that and he said 'ok.' I don't remember being so obsessed with boys at this age, but she definitely is. I'm scared for my future!

@klongoria good luck today! Is YH driving you? Yeah, he's working until noon, then he'll drive me to and from and pick up Cadence. She wants to go to the teacher talent show tonight, so he may take her to that.

tgrimes how’s the kids this morning? Hope that the strep stays isolated and no one else gets it! Mara is fine, other than not wanting to take the meds. It smells disgusting so I don’t blame her. I tried mixing it in coffee creamer. It worked last night but today she didn’t like it. I’ll try chocolate syrup next. Hayden is still coughing and snotty. His temp is only 100 and he’s acting normal. My throat is starting to hurt though. If it gets any worse I’ll call the dr.

Will you get the findings right away? When I had mine they gave me the findings when I woke up. I like instant results!

Both schools called yesterday within 10 minutes of each other. First S school nurse called... he was playing with a friend and accidentally got kicked in the head. I heard him in the background asking to go back to class. He was completely fine, and I don't think it warranted a call.
Then DC called and I was terrified. Turned out B was on the playground trying to run away from the teacher and ran face first into the fence, cutting his face and biting down on his tongue.
Is it wrong that I didn't really care about either incident and was just so thankful neither were sick calls??

Main takeaway is I want to go somewhere nice the week before labor day. No carribean/mexico. Ideas?

ETA: when they called with my barium swallow results they left a voicemail and said, "we're calling with the results of your test. They were......*super long pause*.....ok?" WTF does that even mean? Ok as in normal, ok as in good enough? Don't pause and use a word like ok with a question in your voice!! So hopefully they will tell me today and not message me later.

jewels have y’all ever been to Maine? August is the best month there, IMO. Y’all could rent a house on a lake so the kids could swim, etc. I’d be happy to give you input on specific towns to look at but seriously it’s one of my favorite places in the world—so beautiful, and there is so much to do for families if you like the outdoors. For beach resorts, I’d look at Kiawah in SC. It would be warm, for sure, probably not quite as bad as FL or further south. We prefer Kiawah to Hilton Head, it’s a bit less touristy/commercialized, but HHI is very nice, too. I’m sure there are hotels properties in both those area where you could use points.

MH and I secured our spot in hell by watching videos of ice dancing falls last night. We were watching figure skating and reminded of one of our favorite Olympics moments of all-time. A male ice dancer dropped his partner. She was okay, but absolutely pissed. When they finished their routine she gave him a death stare where you could feel the anger radiating from her. Then after a good 20+ seconds she turns and gives a fakesy smile and curtsy for the camera. Lol.

flamingo we talked about maine. I just was hoping for somewhere with more to do right there. But if there is anyway you specifically recommend I'd definitely look at it! Hmm I've never been to Kiawah. We did Hilton Head when S was a toddler and loved it. We had been looking to go back to Hilton Head but the place I wanted to stay was booked already. Anywhere specific in Kiawah you've stayed? I am definitely not married to using points.

Morning!
I chatted with a friend for a couple hours until 11pm last night, so I'm kinda dragging this morning. I'm excited that it's Friday and we get two stay home days with no solid plans other than to hang out at home and do a couple projects that I wanted MH to do while he was pacing the house for 5 weeks but 'didnt get to'.
Time seems to be going at a snails pace this morning so it'd be great if it sped up a little, or a lot.

We stayed at the Sanctuary and loved it; I just texted my sister to ask where they stayed when they went last year (BIL had a conference). I know they really liked it and said they’d go back on their own dime In Maine, Samoset is a great oceanfront resort. Several restaurants on site, a pool, golf, etc. A spa with the best facial I’ve ever had. www.samosetresort.com I’ve heard of others further south but can personally vouch for Samoset. Having the house up there, we have been all over but I’m partial to and highly recommend the Camden/Rockport/Rockland areas. Super charming harbor front towns, easy to book whale-watching, kayaks, etc. It’s about a 2 hr drive from this area to Acadia National Park if that interested you. If you wanted to look into a lakefront rental, check out Megunticook. Many of the homes in that area come with kayaks, bikes, etc. ETA: we really enjoyed Newport, RI when my H had to attend a ‘school’ there one summer. So that may be another coastal option for you. I know there are resorts there but am not familiar as we stayed on the base there.

My friend from AL is coming in town today. It’s her birthday and she is meeting family and friends here so we can hang out for her birthday weekend. I’m excited to have some time out with friends. Hoping for good food and drinks!

I know there are resorts there but am not familiar as we stayed on the base there. I can second the part about Camden/Rockland/rockport! We’ve been in Maine during three summers and have had the best time. I can also recommend Wolfe’s neck campground... I’m still a little ‘home sick’. Bar Harbor in August was no fun... it was so crowded, up to the point of 1.5 hour traffic jams for look out points, it was overwhelming for us. It is pretty though.
