I’m currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. I will actually finish it tonight, so not quite 2020. This book is so odd. It captured my attention enough to read it and I’m almost done so I will finish it but... I just don’t know. Both of my library books are upstairs but I forget what they are. One is the newer Preston and Child book. I love their books, so I’m sure it will be on par with the usual. The other was a rec from the 2019 reading thread, I think. Nine Perfect Strangers is very odd. I’m reading Starless Sea, and battling to get into it. I think I just need bigger chunks of reading time, that I’m not getting at the moment. I'm also reading The Starless Sea and having the same struggle. I think part of the problem for me is the lack of dialogue, and I keep picking it up in bed at night when I'm already tired. Keeping my fingers crossed it gets better. I loved The Night Circus and had high hopes for this one.

I finished 13 books in 2019. Not very impressive but I’m a slow reader and I switched my train commute for a short drive last year so that was and hour a day less reading.
I mentioned in the old thread but I just started The House by the Sea by Santa Montefiore, so that will be my first one finished this year.
My goal for 2019 was to not buy any books and to utilize my public library instead or read what I already owned. I almost made it, I bought 1 book at the airport after forgetting the one I had at home. So I’m going to try the same again in 2020

I just got a book entitled "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a #@$!" Ironically enough from H. I bought this forever ago but haven’t read it yet. Let me know if I should!

I’m going to try and get in on the ground floor of this thread. I read 93 books in 2019, mostly in the fantasy and romance genres. Right now I’m reading a romance called Well Met, set at a modern day Renaissance Faire. It’s cute and somewhat funny so far. After this one, I’ll be starting The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black, which is the third book of a pretty good fantasy trilogy so I’m excited for that one I loved Queen of Nothing and that whole trilogy!

I just signed into Goodreads for the first time since 2011. 😬
I'm reading Mindhunter right now, and I would like to try reading at least one book a month. I'm setting a small goal because I still want to knit more and I'd like to find time for all of my hobbies.

I think I'll also shoot for 12. I haven't read much in the past few years but used to do dozens of books a year. It's just hard to make the time in this season of my life but I'm thinking/hoping I can manage a book per month.
I have a bunch of library books on my kindle with the airplane mode turned on so I don't lose them so next ups are: Brain on Fire by Susannah Callahan Indigenous Peoples History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
In addition to the previously mentioned book I'm also reading Evicted by Matthew Desmond for work. It's really great but really sad.

I have a strong goal to read a lot more while I’m on maternity leave and throughout the year. I’m starting out with three books in three different formats 🤣 And I’m re-reading Babywise in paperback.

I’m currently reading Pierce Brown’s Iron Gold and will start Dark Age immediately after. I’m hoping to finish both in a couple of weeks. I’ll go back to reading Shift (Wool series) once I finish this one.

I just recently finished Slapstick by Vonnegut which was weird as hell, even for Vonnegut. I’m starting Me Talk Pretty One Day by Sedaris for the second time. I’ve had it forever I don’t know why I’ve never finished it. Oh, probably because I’ve sucked at reading.
I am going to make a list from this thread for the future.

I’m going to shoot for 40 in 2020. I didn’t make it last year, but life was pretty crazy.

I read 59 books last year, which was a huge improvement over the 22 I read the previous year. My goal was 40 books of any sort in order to get back into the habit.
I’m starting the New Year halfway through The Art of Theft by Sherry Thomas. I have some classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Robert Louis Stevenson on deck to revisit the inspirations for the reimagined historic mystery/horror I’ve been reading lately.

Just a thought, but I always prefer listening to David Sedaris. His voice is just so perfect for his stories. I can usually get his older books on audiobook through the library with no wait.

I started Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (Nike founder)on audible while taking down Christmas and organizing my house. H listened to it forever ago and recommended it to me. It’s interesting so far.
My first book will be When We Left Cuba because my hold was up at the library and I have 10 days left to read it.

Starting off 2020 with my bookclub book, ‘Educated’. Once that’s done I have Daisy Jones and the Six lined up. I was 2 books short of reaching my 2019 Goodreads goal 😤 Trying to find a practical goal for this year - a new baby coming in a couple of months is throwing off how many I think I can actually read. Sleep will trump books.

My goal for 2019 was 70 books/25k pages. I read 88 books and 27,917 pages. I’m going to stick with the 70 books goal again this year and not worry about pages but keep track just for my curiosity. Last January, I bought a nice leather bound journal and I wrote every book, author and page count down last year. It’s kind of nice to see what I read and it’s a good reference if I ever want to look up an authors other books to find something new to read.
I’m doing the goodreads challenge again for the third year. I really like how it opens me up to new authors and genres.
I’m starting out the year with Where the Crawdads Sing. I was on the waitlist at the library for ages and my Mom got tired of waiting for me to read it so we could discuss it and got it for me for Christmas.

I'm in the middle of The Kitchen House and will start The Institute by Stephen King when that's done. I have a ton of Kindle books since I've bought some that were on sale the last few weeks. I haven't decided which two to get for first reads this month.

Hello! I’m going to jump in here this year. I read about 35 books last year, mainly fiction in the thriller genre.
I have to say that I enjoyed Nine Perfect Strangers but i love Liane Moriarty. I read nearly all of her books last year. I think Three Wishes and What Alice Forgot were two of my favorites. I really enjoyed them all.
Currently re-reading The Stand by Stephen King. It’s one of my favorites and it’s been a few years since I’ve read it.

I really enjoyed The Huntress so I plan to read The Alice Network this year. For light reading I liked the Crazy Rich Asians series.
