So this is kind of crazy. We’re up to 10 people and counting, from our family Christmas party this Saturday, who just got diagnosed with the flu. No one was sick that day, but one uncle who had been sick previously and he refused to shake anyone’s hand. Just gave them a hello. From grandparents to kids- all ages. Bazaar. Most of the sick ones were sitting on the opposite sides of the room from where we were sitting, so at least there’s that. My SIL is the only one from our side, but she spent a lot of time mingling on the other side. Yikes, def party foul for whoever brought it. Was everyone vaccinated? Hope no one gets too sick.

Oh gosh, guster. That sucks! I feel like that's beyond the point where you want a positive something to just get meds to make it go away! Yes! I was hoping (and convinced) this was strept.

lahdeedah I have also profited by my sibling not having his shit together. I’ve told my parents many times that they don’t need to give me anything just because they bailed him out but they still do. In the past when it’s been a decent amount we used it for practical things. This time we booked a vacation in Jamaica for next January. I feel a little guilty but I know my dad also wants us to enjoy it. So I would release the guilt. It’s a reward for being responsible. When in life do we ever get those?! I wonder why they feel this way though? Maybe just trying to be fair? Idk. It doesn’t happen often, but this was nice. That’s why my parents do it. I think they have guilt with the inequity.

We had a busy day. C had a Drs appointment to recheck his cough that still hasn’t gone away. It’s possibly asthma so we are trying an inhaler to see if it helps. Then I had a Drs appointment and then we took C ice skating for the first time. It was a ton of fun and he did great. They have these support penguins to hold on to and he used it for a couple of laps and was off and running. Plenty of falls but he was pretty good. Of course now he’s bothering me about his own skates and starting to play hockey.

I have no clue if everyone is vaccinated, but I doubt it. I know we all are and hoping since the boys were more recently vaccinated that they are spared. I do not want to relive the start of 2018 when I had flu. That was awful.

Yikes lahdeedah , that is crazy how many people from the get-together are sick. Fingers & toes crossed you guys are spared. So sorry guster, I know from when I was sick recently I was praying for a strep dx so I could get on meds. Hope you are feeling better in the morning.

joelies I'll ask my mom for sure, but I think they'll do steroids or a course of antibiotics for the fluid. They may admit him to do iv antibiotics. I'm pissed for you with the way these doctors are acting. That's ridiculous. I believe its the same type of cancer that grandma had. Remember that the prognosis is not always accurate. Grandma was holding on to meet Jackson and he's 4. Hers was also fast growing and she still fought like hell and did different treatments until something worked. And if the practice continues to suck- insist they find a new one. He needs a good team fighting with him. I'm so sorry for the timing with all of this. I hope you get some answers at the appointment.

I finally broke down today and went to urgent care. The pain on one side of my throat is unbearable. It has been like this since the Friday before Christmas but mostly at night. Today it was ALL day. Both flu and strept came back negative and she said my throat looks fine. So Advil and gargling with salt water. We had an nice cocktail party dinner and watched some of the Netflix ball drops. The kids are asleep, and mh and I are in bed planning to finish up Virgin River (anyone toward the end bc I’m annoyed with a plot line) Have you ever had a tonsil stone? Sounds kind of like that for me, bad pain on one side of my throat.

I’m sorry the doctors office keeps calling without being able to answer any questions joelies. I hope the appt with the oncologist helps clear things up for the plans going forward.

I have had tonsil stones. They are so gross, but I never had pain from them before and the dr. said my throat was clear. 🤷🏻♀️ If it doesn’t feel better by Friday, I’ll go to my regular gp.

joelies I’ve been trying to catch up lately and wanted to say that im really sorry about the recent news on your Dad. I hope things aren’t as bad as the doctors are making it seem and he can continue to have a good quality of life. I’m sure it’s hard having them so far away. Hugs.
