I’m sorry the kids are a mess kim22. Happy Bday to C! cagoldi dh was away recently and C was a complete turd one night so when he called to check in I told him and he had the exact same response as your Pete! “Oh sorry to hear that”. It was all I could do not to jump through the phone and strangle him. It felt almost condescending. Damn Pete’s! (It was more a one off for mine though).

We got 4 inches of snow overnight until midday. No school delays. My work was delayed an hour so I was going to start wrapping gifts while I have rare time alone. I went down to the basement to retrieve some hidden gifts and found my furnace leaking. Not a ton of water but when I removed the panels it’s clear the leak has been going some time and has rusted some parts. The house is 4yrs old so I’m less than pleased.
I have a service call scheduled for the morning and decided to just take the day off work. I was so off my game at work today and not getting anything done so a little mind break is in order. I’m hoping the repair guy comes early and it’s quick and cheap so I can just relax.

Absolutely, he is my soul mate ball of geriatric perfection. And most of the time my favourite living being in this house 😉

Add us to the not many cards yet club. I was more on it than usual and mine were sent a couple days ago. I work this weekend so I knew I'd have less time and needed to get on it.

Sending Christmas cards is a dying trade over here. Up untill 5 years ago I did send cards and almost never got one back. Also professional family photography? Not a ‘thing’ here. I think most people have professional photos taken at their wedding day and then never again. I would love an amazing picture of my little family.

Well my mom hit the button for the ones I'm in. I think this is the route most people are going now a days. With phones and cameras these days, you can get great pics with the right scenery. MH’s cousins took her 7yo’s fall pics in their backyard with portrait mode on her iPhone and they came out amazing. You would think they were done by a professional if she didn’t say so. Also, it’s so much cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars. If you want it printed professionally, there are companies online that do a great job. In a photography class I took, I learned that Costco does better prints than Walgreens, Walmart, etc. She held the same pic up in the different prints and you could see the difference in colors. Now you have to order them online because they took the photo counter out of the stores. ETA: Just wanted to clarify. I don’t think Costco is one of those “professional photo printing” companies. Just the nicer pick of the retail brands.

If not for you guys, we'd hardly get any cards. As far as family photos we've only done 2 "professional" shoots (if you call Target photo professional). It's a lot of money and I usually prefer the candid shots we get on outings anyway.

I hate the money of professional (we've used Target before and they were great!), but love the way they look. When I was growing up, we never did professional pictures, they were way too expensive for my family. So I'd like to do them more often now, just to see the changes in Evie as she grows up. Plus going through my phone for pictures yesterday for the card...the 3 of us took exactly 2 pictures together this last year. 1 at the beach in Alabama and 1 at a Royals game. I need to step up my game I guess.

mwhip , I guess where I feel we aren't missing out by not doing too many professional photos is that I make sure we get some good shots throughout the year of the whole family. We didn't have many professional shots when I was a kid either and while I like those photos, some of the photos I like the best are the casual ones. I put together an elaborate photo calendar every year and it's always fun to go back and review all the good photos from the year. ETA: I also make a point to make sure I'm in some of the photos too and not just behind the camera. It's easy to fall into the trap of feeling too fat/hair messy/not cute enough/etc. and avoid it but I want photos of all of us.

It's a lot of money and I usually prefer the candid shots we get on outings anyway. We’ve only ever done professional for maternity and newborn pics. Ever since then I just upload a bunch from my phone for the holiday cards. I’m spending enough on school photos and the cards themselves to feel like I want to give several hundred more dollars for professional pictures each year (especially more than once a year).

I shop around for good for photographers who aren't ridiculous and sometimes do their many sessions to get an updated family photo for around $60. We are horrible about taking pictures of all of us when we're on outings. Even holidays when I get home and all the kids are in bed I remember that we never got a family picture. Drives me nuts.

The holiday mini sessions were $65 around me this year. I thought I would save us money and take it myself. But I needed a white blanket and Christmas pillows to make the scene right and ended up spending $60 on that lol so I saved $5.... oops. But the blanket is my new favorite thing and is permanently under my comforter.

When M was a baby, I used to buy props at home goods, take the pics, and return the items. Of course this was in lieu of the professional pics. I did it for the 6month and 1 year pic.

I've only gotten 2 cards as well, I think people just get them or later, I noticed this last year as well. It's are at Costco for pickup, so they probably won't be mailed u til next week. I just did my first peloton ride and feel a bit ridiculous, but will give it a solid try for the month. J has a roller skating party on Sat. Is it extra of me to make him wear a helmet? He's never been. Anyone follow Eva Love's TBI recovery on Instagram? A 7 year old fell off a golf cart and it is brutally heartbreaking, her mom owns a print shop - - Lindsay letters. With your family history I wouldn’t blame you for making him wear a helmet.

I only do professional photos every other year. I also don’t pay for full sessions, I just do mini sessions. Our photographer does them every year around Mother’s Day and in the fall. Next year we will be photo heavy because baby.

I love professional pictures. We did them this summer on the beach with my whole family. The photographer is very laid back and not super staged. I'm not into the "professional" pictures that are the ones inside with the standard backdrop, props and poses.

So I'm kinda annoyed at C's principal. He sent home a list of every staff member's favorites "to make our life easier". On the list is teachers, assistant teachers, custodians, secretaries, all the art/music/gym teachers, librarians, cooks, ect. Seems pretty presumptuous. I love having his teachers likes but I don't like the "suggestion" of gifts for the entire staff. I mean, if I had the money every single staff member in the entire building would get a gift. But I don't have that money. I can't imagine someone who really didn't have a dollar to spare getting that email, makes me so sad.
