Hi friends. I haven't checked in lately because I didn't get the best of news at my anatomy scan and just wanted a breather for a minute. Trigger Warning: The scan showed a healthy baby with all body parts appearing and working correctly. However, the umbilical cord has a 2 cord vessel instead of the normal three. The main concern here is growth as well as possible heart conditions. Unless, the vessel was hiding, we will be sent to a MFM after my 24 week appointment. I will have a more detailed ultrasound and possibly more testing. This was all news to me since I never knew details about the umbilical cord. Any thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. I'm hoping the 25th gets here fast. I had this with my daughter. I promise you it sounds so much worse on paper then it will end up being. You will be considered high risk for the remainder of your pregnancy so expect loads of appointments. However, I was not put on a single restriction until 35 weeks when I was finally put on modified rest, but it was due to extensive issues with prodromal labor not related to my cord. Like, I was still allowed to run, go to spin class, work, all that stuff until 35 weeks. Here's the breakdown of what I went through with this- Growth scan every four weeks for IUGR and also looked at specific organs that are often affected (heart and kidneys mostly) Fetal echo at 26w to check for heart defects Weekly NST's starting at 32 weeks You may end up going early. I was told I would likely not make it past 38w and my water exploded Hollywood style at 36+3. E was born days later (stubborn little shit) perfectly healthy and fine. No NICU time for coming before 37w, no nothing wrong with her what so ever. She's a scrawny kid, but never had any true growth restrictions in utero. Deep breath. Big hugs. If you need someone to talk to please feel free to PM me.

catmom88 , I'm sorry that your a/s showed an issue. You & baby are in my thoughts. If you want anecdotes, I know two people who have had perfectly healthy babies despite having 2-vessel cords. Hope the level 2 ultrasound goes well. Both went full-term and had no complications. If you want a silver lining, you'll probably have a ton of growth scans so you'll get to see baby a lot. I loved having weekly growth scans last time, not gonna lie.

catmom88, sending you hugs too! I'm glad it doesn't actually seem as bad as it sounds Always nice to hear first hand experience, doctors sometimes lack the bedside manner for these sorts of things!

That's great that you cnf went through the same and it isn't as bad as it sounds catmom88! I'll still send you all of positive energy! Also as misskilljoy mentioned, I've been getting bi-weekly ultrasounds since day 1 and it's been pretty awesome. At least you get to see lots of baby growing.

bethkate I can't wait to watch it. I'm hoping to have some time when MH is away next week. catmom88 I'm sorry for the bad news. I hope you can get some more answers and reassurance at your next appointment. I need registry help, the whole thing seems so overwhelming to me. Is there a list somewhere that tells me what I need so I have a starting point?

Happy weekend! There was am awful thunderstorm here last night. The thunder shook the house so much it woke me up!
MH is fishing so I'm spending the morning eating donuts on the couch watching Trolls with the baby.

I got the Tdap booster at my ob appointment yesterday, and my arm is killing me. I expected some soreness, but I can hardly lift my arm, and it really interrupted my sleep last night too.

I got mine 2 years ago and I remember the pain being bad and I couldn't lift my arm for a couple of days. A hot compress can help.

It's so much more sore than I expected. I hope it doesn't last too long.

Another tidbit from yesterday's ob appointment: They measured fundal height for the first time, and she said my uterus is measuring 25 weeks. I'm 23 weeks today. I know it doesn't mean a whole lot, but I don't feel like my belly looks that big, so I was surprised.

For registering, my best advice is to tackle it a bit at a time. I remember being so overwhelmed at Babies R Us - I wanted to cry! Second best advice - baby bargains! It's a book and a website that will give you reviews of the different brands and products. It's been incredibly helpful.
Been absent recently- hopefully work will calm down and I can check in more often. Today's plan is to look for cribs and nursery furniture. Hoping we can be decisive today and check it off the list!

I make big boys though. The pain lasted a couple days for me. The more you use your arm the faster it'll go away. It's tough not to baby it though I know!

My co worker lent me that book and it is a lifesaver. I need a list to check off though like stroller, car seat, etc. I obviously know some of the big things it's the random stuff I need help with, and the how much lol.

I hope work starts to calm down for you! I got really overwhelmed earlier this week when I started my registry, so I've been taking it one step at a time, mostly completing a different category (travel gear, bathing, etc) each day. I've added a few things at a time, and I think I'm close to done now.

laurensc927 Both target and Amazon have bags with free samples and coupons if you register with them. If you have amazon prime, you get $100 worth of diapers once you (or your friends/family) purchase $1000 worth of stuff from your registry. I'm mostly using Amazon and will pick up smaller items from BRU and Target. For DS, I registered at BRU and Amazon. BRU tends to be more expensive.

laurensc927, I totally get what you mean about how much. I've tried not to register for too many of one thing, though...like pacifiers or bottles or sleepers....because I don't know what the baby is going to like or how I'm going to feel about certain products. I figure I'm probably going to have to make a ton of target trips to buy more or try different brands once she's born, so I'm only putting a few of each of those things on the registry.

We are on our way up North. It's a 4 hour drive. Please sweet baby Jesus let DS nap, or at least not throw a shit fit tantrum.
It will be worth it though! An entire week of relaxation awaits.
