I bought peppermint flavored marshmallows yesterday for hot cocoa (and treats for Cass because she's obsessed with them). They hardly had any peppermint flavor. I need to get mini candy canes to use as a stirring stick instead. I feel like one of those judges on the dessert shows--"the chocolate overpowered the taste of the peppermint and it didn't come through so I was missing all of the flavors."

peachsmama I understand her not wanting to stay overnight, but given that they yanked her off her meds like that it’s probably for the best until she is stabilized. Just my .02. I know everyone is different but when I was in her position it was unsafe for me to drive or have access to any type of prescription or OTC drugs at all. I hope she isn’t getting discouraged and they’re able to help her feel better very quickly.

*poof* Just realized you may not have wanted me to quote that. Thank you for that. I'm glad her reaction although bad, was in the range of normal for this kind of issue.I really think she needs a different doctor. I can't believe she put her on so much so fast and took her off so much so fast. Luckily she has a huge support system.

However, 50 mg is a normal dose. 25 isn't even considered a medical dosage, according to the doctors I've discussed my issues with in the past.

mwhip I'm also a control freak about hair. Granted I keep C's short so it's really only long enough for one style right now. But she knows, 'No bow, no go' LOL. I don't do crazy. #meanmom Growing up, we had to have *something* in our hair...a bow/barette, braid or pony, or a headband. My mom wasn't super great with hair besides the basics so that was probably for the best! C has expressed interest in headbands but I'm not sure she'd keep one in all day and it's one more thing her teacher would have to keep track of. Maybe I'll get one and try it at home. She did do well with her Minnie ears so maybe she'll surprise me.

mskatiep I let ds choose between stuff I picked out, I’m a bit neurotic (don’t like blue on blue/ green on green, certain shirts go well with certain pants etc.) but truthfully he’ll most likely wear what I tell him too 🤷🏼♀️. Dd has preferences, but again she can choose from my options (elsewise she’s walk out the door in a pink princes gown every day). She gets to choose her hairstyle (braids, bun, half up etc.).

This makes me really want peppermint bark. Maybe i'll make some this year. I've bought it at Williams Sonoma before but a decent-sized box is basically a mortgage payment

They tried to leave against medical advice but the doctor came in and said he can legally hold her for 72 hours and that he was holding her at least overnight.

mskatiep I'll allow Evie to try to pick out her clothes, but if she's going to look like a fool, I tell her no. Like, pick your shirt, then the pants you think and I'll approve or not. The hair is a no go from me. She's told me she wants a pony with just a certain portion of her hair on the back said of her head and I said no. It's all or nothing kid. I'm mean. My kid is the biggest girl in her class and has a tummy. I now she's going to get made fun of at some point, so I'm trying to minimize the risk with things I can control. I hear you on that, Layla is definitely on the thicker side of things and I worry someday that she will get made fun of. Right now she pretty much runs the show wherever she is at, so she hasn't had kids making fun of her yet, but I dread the day. We normally go thru her closet/drawers together and I let her veto me and I veto her until we mutually agree upon something. If I don't have time for that, I will just pick clothes out and hold my ground. She's very interested in hair and makeup right now (thank you teenage cousin/nanny) so that is where we have the biggest issue. I just can't allow her to leave the house with her hair all wild.

Schiphol airport (One of the biggest in the world) was just partially shut down because of an ‘suspicious dangerous situation’ Twitter was exploding about a possible hijack, emergency services, trauma helicopters, fighter planes all went down to the scene.
Guess what was really going on? The pilot pushed the ‘hijack button’ by accident. Say what 😳?

Hi from vacation! We are having a blast but B has bronchitis and between the steroids and the antibiotics his stomach has been awful. I’m currently hangin in the room w him because he’s had bad diarrhea this afternoon and no one wants that in the pool. mH took S to the water park. I’m hoping if we can go 1 hour poop free I can get him in the pool. 30 more minutes:).

I used to hit the damn silent alarm all the time when I was a bank teller. Then I had to stand outside with the big "X" that showed the undercover officer responding that I did it on accident.. #graceful Pretty sure I'm the reason they switched to a 2 button alarm lol.

Just dropped B at golf...you can tell it’s the first day of a new session, the helicopter golf parents are out in force. Meanwhile I’m sitting in my car with my seat heater on eating CFA nuggets and reading.
We will get another email reminding us to please not follow the kids into the instruction room or try to coach them once they’re out on the range 🤦🏻♀️

peachsmama After M, they put me on 50mg of Zoloft. The side effects were scary. I called a few days later and asked if it was normal, etc. The on call doctor said she never prescribes 50 at first, she does 25mg for 2 weeks and then ups it to 50mg. After H, I reminded my OB of my previous experience and I started at 25mg, and although I still felt a few of the side effects, it wasn't as bad at all. Now my coworker was given 50mg and never had any issues. I'm surprised they took her off the meds completely instead of just lowering her dose. Regardless, I hope she starts feeling better ASAP and they can figure out her meds. She'll probably need some extra help with things for a bit because every little task can see overwhelming. I was started at 50mg. I def had side effects but just powered through it. Not anything I didn’t think I could handle though.

tallb I’m sorry you got that diagnosis. Where on your face is the mole? My FIL had one removed this summer (pretty sure it was basal cell too) and it was really close to his tear duct so they had to do it with an ENT and plastic surgeon. Luckily it didn’t end up causing issues with the tear duct.

peachsmama I had a feeling the doctor would make her stay overnight with that diagnosis, whether she liked it or not. I hope they can get her moods stabilized quickly.

Luckily it didn’t end up causing issues with the tear duct. It's right under my nostril to the side a bit, so hopefully won't be too noticeable. They have a specific doctor that does surgeries on the face, so hopefully that means he's good. I need to do some research..

When MH had melanoma removed from his face they sent him to a plastic surgeon.

That was going to be my question/suggestion, as well (the plastic surgeon part). Glad they have someone who specializes on site. Sorry you have to go through all that again, but happy to hear it's not melanoma again.

Also vino, S met a little boy from Canada and they bonded over Beyblades and Pokémon. Made me think of you and how much our kids would get along. The kid was even super sweet like your B (he tried to gift S a tin of Pokémon cards that he had - obviously I told S no, but it was so sweet). I told S he could find something he brought and trade him for it so he was excited to dig through his toys to find something

guster have you tried cable knit tights on J yet? Just a thought. C has had them in years past and they're cotton and thicker/sturdier so maybe would be easier for her to pull up? Gap has some if you're interested.
