Speaking of clothes/getting ready, how much control do you allow your kids when picking out outfits? Layla has been trying pick out her clothes and do her own hair recently. This was this morning's result: Not pictured, the third ponytail on the back of her head.

guster, no tights to school, but she wears them for ballet. I make sure she goes potty before class, but if she needs to go during class then I have to go with her and help still. Otherwise, she'll go back to class with the crotch down by her knees and not give a shit. Yes, Josie wears them for dance and has in the past without a problem. She wears them for most holidays and has even worn them to a preschool for picture day, but the crotch around the knees part is what I saw this year for Halloween before I quickly changed her into a pair of leggings. I guess we’re all on the same boat, and it comes with time.

That must be so painful for him, tgrimes. I hope the ENT can come up with something helpful. peachsmama thinking of your family and crossing all my fingers and toes that they are able to help her. That is really the most terrifying feeling.❤️❤️❤️

guster I think she will only get better with time. Maybe start with having her wear them on the weekends so you can help and I’m sure after a few days she’ll be good to go. peachsmama I’m glad she’s getting help. I’ll keep the family in my thoughts. tgrimes I hope you get some form of treatment today that helps.

Morning. Both girls are at school and after I dropped S off I ran to aldi. They still had quite a few of all of their advent calendars, including wine and cheese. I actually just went for milk and yogurt so that’s all I bought. Then I came home and picked up the yard and put stuff in the garage. Today is DH’s birthday so I am going to try to bake him a cake from scratch, I have some buttercream in my freezer that should still be good/usable. Also, it’s snowing today. Not a ton, but it’s very slippery because last night it was raining/sleeting.

mskatiep I let H pick out her clothes/ hair style any time she wants but I will edit for weather. She kept wanting to wear her tank tops and summer dresses so I had to put those away so they weren’t an option. As for her hair, most of the time she just wants a headband that may or may not match her outfit.

mskatiep I pick out Bradley's clothes most school days and let him do weekends. He does know certain things are for school and certain things are for play/sports so usually he's fine. Over the summer, C would go into her room and come out dressed, but I typically buy outfits for her (vs. individual pieces) so she'd grab the coordinating pieces from her drawer. She is truly my daughter and likes things to match She definitely expresses more of a preference than B so I try to give her choices. Also, she's only 3, so I'm aware things can change! I know I've told this story before but my MIL used to send my SIL to school with a note pinned to her shirt saying, " XYZ picked out her own outfit today!"--apparently 6 y.o. SIL did not put together the most coordinated outfits.

Morning.
SSDD over here, just at work. I had Monday off because I needed a personal day and some space from...life. MH goes from chicken little the sky is falling to Eyore and it.is.exhausting. Normally I can handle him and his shifts fine but idk what is happening this time but i'm feeling drained. His flight is really early on Friday morning and I've got the day off for J's birthday so that's something to look forward to.

K and I went to leave pain quotidien with my real estate agent/friend and that was a nice catch up. Then returned a few things and now nursing outside of world market and hoping to get to Nordstrom rack if she will cooperate.
J' read a thon sponsor sheet was due today and mh filled it out for him and said we'd do $.20 a minute arbitrarily and wrote out a check for $90! Wtf! Definitely wasn't planning on being that generous.
And looks like I need to get that mole removed on my face, the doctor finally called (never good when the doctor calls😔). It's basal cell so not nearly as serious as melanoma, so it's fine, just hope it doesn't scar too much on my face. I guess the procedure will take a half day, so that will be fun to schedule. Mh and I are currently in a spat about said read a thon, so I haven't even told him yet...

mskatiep I'll allow Evie to try to pick out her clothes, but if she's going to look like a fool, I tell her no. Like, pick your shirt, then the pants you think and I'll approve or not. The hair is a no go from me. She's told me she wants a pony with just a certain portion of her hair on the back said of her head and I said no. It's all or nothing kid. I'm mean. My kid is the biggest girl in her class and has a tummy. I now she's going to get made fun of at some point, so I'm trying to minimize the risk with things I can control.

Also team leggings. Less clothes to worry about. No snags. The girls have dressed themselves for years. Cass loves to have me "help" her pick out her clothes. And then she gets the opposite of everything I suggest and changes what she had on. I don't even bother anymore. But uneven wobbly hair drives me crazy. I fix that. I'm glad she's getting help peachsmama. tgrimes, jeez. I know this sounds weird, but I hope having more sickness at least makes the doctors take it seriously. Good luck.

Hopefully it’s early enough that they won’t have to remove too much. My dad is having some melanoma removed next week.

SSDD around here too. I started my period so that's making it extra exciting. I would think by now I would have accepted the no more babies stuff but it still makes me kind of sad sometimes.
I started Nurse Jackie on Netflix and I'm digging it. I'm also watching Raising Dion and so far I enjoy it.

I'm at work now. The ENT wants to do another set of tubes so that is scheduled for Tuesday. He's not sure if he'll be able to place a tube in the right ear because of the size of the hole that is currently there (if it is too big, the tube would just fall out). He's going to try though. While he's sedated, he'll do a nasal lavage which is sort of like using the neti pot but fancier and penetrates deeper. He ordered an ultrasound for his salivary gland (where the parotitis is located) to check for stones so I'm waiting for someone to call me to get that scheduled. No antibiotics for now, since we've been through all of them already, but if the parotitis gets worse, I'll need to call him back and he'll prescribe augmentin. He did give me a prescription for zofran since he threw up in the car on the way to pick up that prescription after the last surgery. Now I get to call and harass the immunologist. Super fun.

He pointed to the side of his face this morning and said, "I ick." That's when I felt his gland and sure enough, it was rock hard. He's a bit grumpy, but I think he's just used to all the sickness, to be honest. He was not happy I was dropping him off at daycare. He kept saying, "No mommy. Home! Home!" Thanks for making me feel like shit kid.

When the ENT walked in the room he said, "Wow. I haven't seen you in a couple of months. That must be a record." I told him it was only because we took him to the pedi and the walk in clinic instead. I explained all of the EIs since we saw him last and told him I had been checking his ears routinely since the first one began. I told him I know I'm not an ENT but I'm pretty sure the 1st EI cleared up, based on what his ears looked like, and that this last infection in his left ear still had fluid, the right ear had dried up and is now draining again. He told me I was pretty much an ENT jr and should consider being his resident. I will now add ENT to my resume.

mskatiep M picks out her own clothes but I do her hair on the weekdays. On the weekends when she does it, she'll spray it down with water and then use the wide tooth comb but she really only puts a headband in. She hasn't figured out how to do ponies yet.

peachsmama After M, they put me on 50mg of Zoloft. The side effects were scary. I called a few days later and asked if it was normal, etc. The on call doctor said she never prescribes 50 at first, she does 25mg for 2 weeks and then ups it to 50mg. After H, I reminded my OB of my previous experience and I started at 25mg, and although I still felt a few of the side effects, it wasn't as bad at all. Now my coworker was given 50mg and never had any issues. I'm surprised they took her off the meds completely instead of just lowering her dose. Regardless, I hope she starts feeling better ASAP and they can figure out her meds. She'll probably need some extra help with things for a bit because every little task can see overwhelming.

peachsmama, that's a fairly common dosage. I second tgrimes that it's weird to have stopped her rather than just titrate down and then titrate back up. It's common for PCMs to manage basic antidepressant meds. However, as far as providers go her best bet is neither an OB or PCM but a psychiatrist. She should ask her PCM for a referral or just call her insurance network directly for one.
