Yesterday was great - took the kids to Wegmans for shopping and breakfast, then a playdate with a good friend and her two girls. Plus, I bribed J with a promise of ice cream tomorrow if he stayed in his room after bedtime. BRIBERY WORKS.

Except today I woke up with a migraine and I'm still solo parenting. I foresee a lot of movie time today.

Pizzaslut I'm sorry for all the sleep problems! I personally love the Precious Little Sleep website. She has a blog and a podcast that addresses all kinds of sleep issues, even for our kid's age. If you have time, you should browse there and there is also a fb group by the same name that you can join and the community there is really really helpful with advice and troubleshooting sleep problems. I really hope J gets over this soon (Ava went through it too, but I won't tell you how long it took us to get her over it, it took way too long, haha) and goes back to the sleep is good club.

Morning! We went to Charlotte yesterday (Hi Layloo!) for an Ikea trip. Got a dresser and nightstand for baby's room and an outdoor table for our screened in porch. Success! Today is laundry and packing for our trip. We leave tomorrow for Oklahoma for a week. I'm also going to try to make some freezer food to use up food that will go bad and to make a meal for my friend that just had a baby. H is setting up the dresser and A has been so happy to just play at home. I think sometimes I do too much with her because I get bored at home.

librarylady I do that too. The kids are happy playing in the backyard but I get cabin fever staying home too many days in a row! Today is going to be for yard work and laundry here.

Good morning, everyone! Had a fun beach day yesterday. It was slightly overcast for most of the day, but I actually like that because I worry about too much sun (and I was reapplying sunscreen constantly on P and me anyway). Rain held off until we got back to my parents' house, and then there was a big storm and a double rainbow! I made a taco bar for everyone and we had margaritas. Today is hot and sunny. Debating on going to my aunt's pool (she is away, but she gave us keys), or just setting up a kiddie pool and hanging out and grilling. I'm leaning toward the latter because toddlers running around an in ground pool is not the most relaxing thing.

H is cleaning the pool, I'm going to give the kids lunch soon and put ds down for a nap and then it's pool all day here. Our friends just left because she had to do some stuff for work so it'll just be a lazy day. Music, grill. Much excite.

librarylady , we are at almost 5 weeks, so please please please tell me it wasn't like 3 months or something!! I want to say it something like March-May. There was travel and EI thrown in there too so that probably delayed it. Also, we were kind of resisting CIO because I just didn't have the strength for it at that time. When we eventually did CIO for overnight wakeups, they stopped almost immediately. I know that doesn't help you because of the whole climbing out of the crib thing. For naps I did CIO, and also worked but she still sometimes cries for few mins for her nap, but that's whatever to me. For bedtime, we kind of did this compromise with her where MH will lay down next to her crib and play three songs and then he leaves. She is always still pretty much awake when he leaves. He says "night night" and she usually says "no" back. She was crying for a couple mins when he would leave up until recently when he actually started saying goodnight to her. I think before she was getting upset because it was like he was sneaking out, so the saying goodnight helped.

H handled most of the wake ups last night because I started bawling around 11:45. J slept from 8:30-11 and then was waking up every 10 minutes until about midnight. Finally H "yelled" (spoke sternly?) to him and he laid down until 5. H went in and got him back down until 6. Then I pulled him in bed and he talked for about 30 minutes before he wanted down. I just don't understand what keeps waking him up. Is it because of the separation anxiety? His teeth? He'll go right back down if we are in the room near him. Stuck in the box! We feel your pain. I have no idea what is up with E but we are being tortured over here. His normal bedtime is 7, we haven't been able to get him to sleep before 10 the past couple of nights and only in bed with us. As I am in first tri, it is slowly killing me. DH took him in the guest room bed last night and I heard him wake up at 4:45, for the day. DH said other than that, they slept OK, except E falling off the bed... WTH!? I guess he said he slid off. But he seemed OK I guess. He fell out of our bed the night before with DH also. In our case, E is NOT going to sleep easily even with us there. I sang "the saints go marching in" to him for about an hour last night and it did nothing. (His request)

Pizzaslut, I hope you feel better soon and that everybody starts sleeping better. I have no sleep advice. I ended up with an unplanned co-sleeper

It's almost 9 and A and H are still sleeping. I have of course been up since 6:30... I just can't sleep in and I'm up most of the night. I miss sleep, I'm so tired during the day... I guess A is awake, she's just having a lazy morning. Pool today, I'll be smoking ribs and H and I both have appointments at LensCrafters. I haven't been able to find my glasses for over a month and I know it's time for new glasses anyway. A broke both of H's, so it's definitely time.

C slept in her crib-turned-toddler-bed for 1/2 the night last night but when she woke up and realized she was alone, she freaked out. The rest of the night was a crap show.

Oh and we tried to let E CIO last night but after an hour, nope. Couldn't let him keep going like that. We certainly aren't opposed but it clearly wasn't working. Even when we first did CIO when he was a baby, I think his max was 50 min (at bedtime). MOTN, he can go for 2+ hours, so we don't do that either. He just passed out easily for his nap right now though, so maybe that is a good sign or maybe he is just so freakin exhausted.

But I can't even have coffee!!! WAAAAHHHH. I was doing one cup a day but realized it made me feel even more nauseated so I've switched it up for a (not-quite-the-same) cup of green tea. I'm hoping second tri lets me go back to my one cup a day. Even if it is half caff!

I may need to take everything out of his room and just leave a mattress in the floor.

Pizzaslut, the daredevil stuff definitely makes it tricky. That sounds like what E would do if he weren't in his crib but he is just writhing around in his bed, getting sweaty and yelling "mama ready" and "mama bed." If he stands up I go outside his door and say "lay down, time to go night night" in my mean mom voice, which miraculously works for getting him to lay back down.

Last night DH and I sat and played yahtzee for a while on the deck, and then watched some of the fire works going off in our neighbourhood. It was nice. Today we went for breakfast, and doing some cleaning. After nap we are heading to a pool party. The weather is perfect, can't wait

Hi! Last night was fun, it was pouring rain, but cleared up around 7:00 and we were able to have a fire pit! Except when we went into my parents' house to check on B he has puked all over himself/the crib. Poor guy, he's got a cold, I think he just got too stuffed up/ coughed too much.
A little by of vodka and a lot of squats yesterday made getting out of bed pretty hard this morning, but we're off to a kid's birthday party right away, then I think we'll take it easy the rest of the day. Maybe we'll do a minions movie night tonight.

After that I was home alone overnight half the week with the baby and she ended up in our room because otherwise I couldn't function at work otherwise because she would not sleep in her crib. It was bad. We briefly tried CIO. It wasn't for us. She will go on for hours. I'm the poster mom for what not to do.

hey shellyr, try not to beat yourself up over the co-sleeping. It isn't really what I want to be doing right now either but that's the way it is going. The best thing you can do is whatever gets everyone the most sleep.
