Wow. He seems so horrible. I've never met a person like that in real life.

Ahhhhhhh! The finale was so good!! It was an up and down season but that was my favorite end to a season of this show by far. My thread didn’t start on the new posts for some reason. I was super tired when I watched it and the “et tu, Tom” stuff flew over my head until I saw Shiv’s face in the last scene. I also need to rewatch! I loved some of the tiny details of this episode. Willa’s “fuck me” look right before the car door closed. 😂

Wow. He seems so horrible. I've never met a person like that in real life. Some prominent people (Aaron Sorkin, Jessica Chastain) have come to his strong defense, but I think it’s pretty clear he’s… intense, to say the least. I thought he was great on the finale, though. He definitely gets results, but man, it would be hard to work with someone who had that “process.”

I also feel like Shiv did this to herself by being horrible to Tom AND her mom. She was horrible to her brothers too (and vice-versa) but Logan was worse so that faded into the background when push came to shove.

Kieran Culkin's acting in the entire second half of the episode was so so good.

I fucking hate Tom. Everything about him makes me cringe. I have a strange soft spot for Roman in all of his messed-up-nes.

My gosh, Tom. Brutal. Not that Shiv didn't have it coming, but whoa. Just that acting all sweet and concerned to her after... ouch.
Roman and Kendall were both heartbreaking to watch. Such good acting by everyone in that episode, from Shiv's shuddering breath to Roman's pleading looks. The body language was spot on.
I don't know when it's coming, but basically I'm watching and waiting for Logan to get the comeuppance he so, so richly deserves.

I am not all about Kendall but the scene where he confessed was so raw. The acting was on point from all 3 of them.

Also, when Greg asked the contessa "not Greenpeace though?" when she said she donates to environmental charities, I laughed.
And when Tom told Greg that if Roman marries her, he'd invade France. Lol.

The throwaway line that made me choke on my water was Rom, “Dad’s scrambling the fighters!”

We just got caught up last night.
The only character I have hope for is Kendall, which I realize is a hot take, but he’s the only one with a feeling that is not rage. When he sat down and cried, no one knew what to do. Kendall didn’t even know what to do. But he wasn’t crying to get something out of his siblings; he wanted some genuine affection and connection. Logan, Shiv, Roman, apparently Caroline, etc. are lacking this part of their personalities. Kendall has it. He will never find what he needs among these people and he knows it. I hope this means that one day Kendall will grow beyond this game, leave the toxicity behind, and be happy.

As in, if you want to stop this, you have to argue how the move serves the financial interests of the stockholders, which Gerri has the duty to look out for. Gerri is losing her CEO-ship with this deal. She wants them to stop it, too.

He could see a light at the end of the tunnel, which of course Logan tugged away just to toy with him some more. That is a hot take, but I like it.

I also remember Shiv saying “Roys don’t get embarrassed” in an earlier episode. Kendall had this entire idea to sing Honesty and be on a cross (WTF by the way). In the end, he didn’t do it. He had shame and some self-awareness. Kendall is more human than all the Roys. I’m not saying he’s “normal,” but I’m saying he has a shot of breaking free.

I also want to say that the line “I don’t want my kids with him” when he got back from the hospital warmed by heart.
Kendall is broken in many ways. We can blame Logan for emotionally abusing him. We can blame Caroline for whatever part she played. But, Kendall has made conscious choices to minimize his children’s interaction with his toxic family. In Season 1, Logan hits Iverson and Kendall stands up to it. The children live with Rava. Kendall interacts with them (poorly), but you cannot say that he exposes his own children to this mess regularly or is raising them with the same emotional toxicity as Logan. No, Kendall has attempted to draw (leaky) boundaries around himself. Even when Kendall is at his lowest, he knows his kids being around his father is not a good choice so he takes them away.
This comes with its own issues, of course. He is not emotionally available to his children and they are watching him sink (literally). But, breaking free from abuse is not a light switch. It’s a series of choices and awakenings. May Kendall continue to have those. And I’m glad those kids have Rava.
I really feel for Kendall, which I know is not a popular opinion.

There has also been a lot of Kendall quasi-suicidal imagery lately...looking down off tall buildings, floating face down in the pool. Hysteria was speculating that he was actually dead. Which I didn't think was an unbelievable guess, especially with that BSC New Yorker profile.

I didn't even realize it was the season finale while I was watching. Oops. They're all the absolute worst. I have no idea who I'm cheering for. I do like that Tom made a power move for himself. Shiv was willing to let him rot in jail.
