Well J has been fever free since last night, his cousin even stopped by to play. And now its back.... I have no idea what this is. But I'm flashing back to M having a 7 day fever last year and getting worried he'll miss the first day of school on tuesday.

We had at least 5 K classes with about 19 kids in each class and O will have 3 other kids from his class with him in 1st grade. Our school told me they would keep O with at least one friend so he can transition easier into 1st grade. They did the same from pre-k into K. But he is also shy at school.

I can't stand ON. I gave up on them years ago. I used to get all of their emails and their sales would drag me in. They never had anything they advertised at that price. Their clerks never even knew what I was talking about when I asked about the deals.

Sounds like a wonderful trip nam2013 ! So glad you enjoyed downeast Maine We sure did! We also loved the Freeport area, there was a campground there on a working farm that was amazing called Wolfe’s neck oceanfront camping. ETA plus if you’d ever want to go outlet shopping this place is the best and cutest, because the constructions in the town are protected it all looks too cute & LL Bean organised a lot of fun stuff during the summer. Yes! That is a great area. Even the McDonalds is adorable, lol. When we were kids we would always go to Freeport every summer to the huge LL Bean and pick out our new backpacks. I wanted to take B this year but we ran out of time.

Josie loved “meet the teacher.” It was very low-key and organized, but the bus ride rang a little long for my taste. One little boy is also new to the district, and he was so shy and sad, just glued to his dad. A couple of us started up a conversation with his mom and we learned today was his birthday. Poor little buddy!!

Back to School Night. Apparently each kid has an envelope where they collect yellow "tickets" for being good or doing good things. Cadence's was the only empty one.
Oh, and when you're bad you get an "oops note" sent home. Guess who got the first one today. I have to sign it and send it back to prove that I talked to her about it. It was for talking at the wrong time. Uh, have you met my kid? She never shuts up. Can't the teacher work around that?!? I tried to talk to Cadence about it and she made it very clear she doesn't give a shit about yellow tickets. The prize is you get to pick your center during free time. She says she'll get to go to the center she wants eventually.
This kid. I just don't know....

klong11 She’s such a little rebel. I kinda love that about her. They set the bar low for behavioral motivation.

I hate system like that, @klongoria. They feel too one-size-fits-all. A note home feels too much at this point, too. I like C’s spunky attitude and outlook on it!

We went to the park after picking up M2 and on the way home M tells me his thumb is swollen. He says he told his teacher this morning on the playground, but that’s it. It’s looks bad- only around his nail bed. It hurts when touched and is red, but I can’t tell if it’s warm. I wish he would have told me earlier so I could have taken him to be see . I don’t think I’m going to urgent care or his pedi after care because it is in another part of town. Do you think if I try to drain it and put triple antibiotic on it that should suffice at least for tonight? He has a state assessment in the morning, so I can’t take him then.
Here is pics... well it’s not letting me upload.

klong11 I’m sure I will be right there with you next week. I told T I’m going to look up the principal’s phone number so I can block it in my phone, forcing him to call daddy.

It only let me post one, the other pic won’t load. ETA- no cuts or anything and I can’t tell if he has an insect bite because of the swelling. Not sure what or why?

We got to the water park and my nephew had free passes from 2016 and they honored them so it was free. It immediately started to downpour for the whole time we were there but there was not a single line for anything and we had a blast. T was sad he didn’t go so I took him alone to mini golf this afternoon where he was most interested in purposely hitting his ball into the water traps so he could fish it out with the net. I’m home alone now, stressing about getting everything done quickly tomorrow so I can head back for one final beach weekend.

Second, a parent talking about it at home is going to have far less effect than the teacher addressing the behavior right away IMO. I’m really annoyed by this because C is similar and will push the limits so he needs them hard set on the spot. If this is how it was handled there would be no hope for him to turn it around.

lahdeedah does it feel like if you open it up anything will come out? Like is it hard or squishy? If it's hard I would just ice it for tonight and see how it is in the morning. If squishy, then lance it, clean, ointment and bandage.

That's bizarre klong11. Col's kinder teacher gave stamps for good behavior and they got to pick a prize out of a grab bag once they filled up their cards. That seemed like a decent motivator for most of the kids. They also had notes for bad behavior but I can't even imagine sending one home this early for, well, acting like a kindergartner?! That's dumb. I hope the teacher chills out.

lahdeedah do you think there’s pus in it? When I’ve had things like that (I’m a nail biter) I soak in warm water and quickly stick a pin in it and squeeze the stuff out then dip in peroxide. It usually feels better immediately and is totally fine the next day. Now if C had that getting him to let me put a pin in his finger would be hard. But I think if you can it would work.

In other news, I have a one-on-one with my manager tomorrow now that he's back from vacation. I normally carry the team when he's around but it was insane while he was gone. I am going to be very vocal about this because it needs to be remembered come year-end review time. It's about time I get compensated for covering for everyone else's incompetence.
I apparently feel very strongly about this... LOL.
Both boys are transitioning to their new classes and summer being over. It's tough!! Chase is an over tired wreck by the evening, like some kind of feral animal. And Col went from being super happy right after school, to whining about missing camp by bedtime. Good times.
On a more positive note, I went back to the MediSpa today to refresh my face. I really like the look of the minimal Botox but it doesn't last very long. I need to join one of their monthly programs if this is going to be an ongoing thing, since I could save about 30%.

Thanks for the input.

Oh it’s going to be hell trying to get a pin in it if he is watching me. He will be hysterical but I’m hoping between Mh and I, we can get it done. I think I will get Mh to try distract him while I “look” at it and hope for the best. 😬

So I texted my SIL, who is a doctor, earlier about it and she never texted us back. She and her H are infamous for not keeping up with their phones. 🙄 His finger really starting hurting a while ago so we tried to lance it and nothing happened. He was pissed. MH calls SIL and she thinks we should head to the ER because we don’t want it to turn to staph and it’s getting worse. She sends the pics I sent her to her FIL, who is doctor that just retired from his own practice, and he gets back to her right away and says it’s classic ingrown nail, hangnail presentation and do hot/cold rotations until it erupts.
Phew. I feel better and I’m sure he saved us money because Mh’s insurance is not that great.

lahdeedah Ouch! Poor guy. Looks like an ingrown nail to me. B used to get them all the time, and still does if I’m not careful how I clip his nails or if he chews them, and they’d swell and get a little red. For B I’d just soak in warm water and make sure it was clean, and making sure it’s cut straight across. Keep us posted, hopefully he’s able to sleep with it Edit: Just saw your new post, glad it’s just an ingrown. Might take a couple days but it’ll calm down. Maybe some Tylenol for the throbbing and he’ll be good. Poor little dude

This is kinda ironic because just this weekend he was trying to show us that his nail was growing on his thumb and we were all ‘good you should not bite it and let it grow more’. LOL. If you see the pics- he clearly is still biting them. These kids man. I’ll have to text his teacher in the morning because it’s on his dominant hand and they have some type of state assessment tomorrow. I hope they don’t have to write anything for it.

So tired. I got a text about 8pm asking me to work tomorrow and I said yes. This was before thumbGate escalated. I’m doing one more round of hot/cold then calling it a night. M passed out about 30 minutes ago. I’ll be chugging coffee in the AM.

Yes, homeroom classes change every year. You would never be with the exact same kids in following years. A few probably, depending on class size, but not everyone. Oh! I didn’t know that! Why is that? Kids here stay together from 1-6th grade and then usually 7-9 & 9-12th. Teachers 1-6 are usually the same each year (so there’s a 1st grade teacher, a 2nd grade teacher etc.). It is also possible that a teacher follows the kids, in that case they have the same teacher for years. H’s school is so big there are 6 kindergarten classes of approx 25 kids each. The town I grew up in was much smaller (around 40 in my grade) so our classmates did change yearly, but a lot of times you had some of the same kids.

Well I survived 4 hours at the mall with the kids and they both did great. H was whiny at first but snapped out of it. I thought I’d regret not having the stroller but it was fine. Old navy drives me nuts. I buy a lot of stuff online there and it’s so straight forward.. 40% off everything etc. but in store.. my gosh. 40% off this, 30% off that, this rack is $10. So confusing! Most of my stuff rang up 40-50% off but a few were full price so i left them and ordered them online for in store pick up and 40% off and went back an hour later to pick it up. Lol. Now the kids are at my parents and I’m getting a much needed pedicure. Old navy also frustrates me. I hate actually shopping in the store so 95% of the time I order online for in store pick up if available. They have so many sale codes that are online only.
