randomosity, that would make me really nervous. Is there no way they could move the ultrasound up? With your earlier pregnancy, did they end up inducing early bc of iugr? Not trying to make you worry more, but I would be worried about placental health and not want to wait two weeks. No, she was actually my only non-induced birth! And she was a very healthy size so I'm not sure why I measured so small with her, either. And they told me, out of 3 major hospitals in the area, that only one has an opening and that's it. What? Maybe I'll try calling back again to see if they have an earlier openings. I was shocked at how nonchalant they seemed. My mom also had 4 kids and with her 4th, the placenta started dying so of course, that's in the back of mind. My LO is moving and very active and all else seems fine but it's going to be hard to relax for the next 2 weeks if I have to wait all that time!

I just had my appointment and I guess when they did my measurement, I didn't really grow in between appointments so I'm now measuring a full month behind (31 weeks when I'm just about 35 weeks). The doctor wants me scanned to check for IUGR...I did have this issue with DD2 but I always had progress in between appointments, they were just being more or less proactive. Anyway, I'm not really stressing out but it's always a little unnerving to hear that this late in the game and my u/s isn't for another 2 weeks...yay for waiting 😑 Was this the first appointment you measured behind? Any chance someone just screwed up the measurement? I have a tendency to have my belly measurements go in “spurts”. Like it will barely change between two appointments and then jump up, then barely change again, then jump up. It did this with DS too 🤷🏽♀️

After two days of light spotting over the weekend, my midwife took a look at my cervix today. I’m 1cm dilated, which I think means nothing. I’ve never had a reason to be checked this early, so I have no idea what my normal is. Women can hang out dilated for weeks, so I guess it’s realistic that I’ll make it another 7-8 weeks, right?

Any chance there’s a cancellation list?

aeroplaneoverthesea what did your doctor say? Dilation isn’t a predictor of when labor can happen, but it can be an indicator of it coming. But I also was at 2-3cm with both boys for weeks before delivery 🤷🏼♀️

Anymore spotting they want me to go l&d, but otherwise I’m on the 2 weeks schedule.

I'm sure there are so many possible reasons for it but I totally get why they have to be proactive because you never know.

We went in for a 4D u/s the other day, but little guy had his hand and a bit of cord covering his face. So the u/s place is letting us come back next week and try again. Hopefully he'll give us a good pose then. I really just want to compare his to the one we did with my son.

Anyone use a peanut ball for labor? I used a round ball (like an exercise ball) that the hospital had last time and it really helped. I liked it so much I am planning to purchase one since the hospital has limited supplies. However, I saw the peanut ball as an option and wondered if anyone had used one and preferred it to the round ball. I used one once I had the epidural. I went from 5cm to 10 in 5 hours but no telling if it was the epidural and resting or the ball or both. Can't hurt!

MH took the kiddo OOT for the night to see friends, so I finally got the baby area set up! This guy won't have his own room, but we have a very big bedroom, so he'll have his own little area in there until we move him in with his brother R. So today I cleaned up his area, moved the changing table in there, and assembled the crib. I also got some letters to spell out his name above the crib and got some baskets and stuff at Homegoods. I am trying to let go of the fact that the crib is white and the changing table is brown (2nd kid hand-me-down problems), so I got the baskets and letters in colors that kinda (hopefully) tie it all together.
We still have a lot to do - we have a recliner in R's room that we need to move into ours, but we bought it new and they assembled it in his room when they delivered it. It definitely won't fit through the bedroom doors fully assembled, so we'll have to figure that out. (And the dang chair is gray...ugh nothing matches. I need to let it go.) We also need to get R a new big boy bed so we can take back the crib mattress from his toddler bed, get new crib bedding, and get a new set of drawers for this kid's clothes. But now that we have his area set up we can start stocking up on diapers, wipes, supplies, etc.
Meep! It's getting real!

Man, every once in a while we have such a fucking day with DS (6 years old, on the spectrum) that I’m terrified for this baby to arrive. I know it’s directly related to his less strict routine over the summer, but gd it has been a day. Mama could use a cocktail. Less than 2 weeks until school starts, t&ps!

aeroplaneoverthesea we've been having a rough time with DS too. Especially the last 2-3 weeks. Like full on tantrums that are worse than my 2 year old. I think he senses that his world is about to change again and is acting out. He goes back to preschool 2 days/week on Sept 3rd and I cannot wait. I'm hoping it helps him with his attitude. I'm also terrified of his teachers saying he's too difficult.

Can’t wait to see the personality of this next one...god help us.

As H pointed out today, we really need to firm up our name list for this kid. Poor second child. Also need to make freezer food starting this week. And I need to call my mom and tell her our preference in terms of how long she stays when she comes to watch our toddler while I'm in the hospital. Not a conversation I'm looking forward to since she did not take it well when we told my family our wishes with the birth of our first.

Sorry to be MIA guys, the days are flying and life is crazy! I am excited to finish the nursery this weekend and pull out the car seats to get them cleaned up. We are also planning to make some freezer meals so that will be nice! I feel like I have done nothing for this poor kiddo so at least something will be done! 20 days or less to baby!

Ugh. I'm so done and over the annoying comments about having a "big" family. It's weird how much information people think they're entitled to when they don't even know you 😳

Yesterday I was talking to a campus sub and he asked me how I get to my classroom on the 2nd floor when there is no elevator*. I told him I walk up the stairs like everyone else and he looked completely shocked and scandalized. It's ONE flight of stairs, I am not INFIRM nor do I have a disability, and, dude, I'm at the gym lifting weights 4x/week so PLEASE get out of here with that face.
Men. I swear.
*My school is 100% out of compliance with ADA and it's completely illegal, but that's another story.

Second/third/fourth/etc time pregnants: Do/did you get painful Braxton Hicks the subsequent pregnancies (but not with the first)? This is #2 for me. 35 weeks tomorrow. Can't decide if it's painful BH, cramps, or bad indigestion of some sort. Just curious to know if it's just me.

randomosity - People are rude. I hate those types of comments. I'm already preparing responses for the inevitable comments I'll get whether #2 is a boy or a girl. If we have two girls it'll be "oh, do you want to try for a boy?" and then if it's a boy it will be "oh, the perfect family!" WTF to all of that.

I discovered the secret to not getting up to pee a bajillion times at night: Sleep on your back. 🤦♀️ I start out on my side but have woken up on my back the last two nights and realized I didn't get up more than once. Thankfully my midwife says my body will let me know if it's a bad thing and to just go with it.

So when we did decide to have a 3rd (for no other reason than we just wanted a 3rd) the comments were still obnoxious. I can't imagine what it would have been like had DS been a girl 🤦🏼♀️

Ever since my first, I get them beginning around 16 weeks and they increase in strength and intensity as I go, especially during the last month. I had a contraction like a week or two ago that was so intense that I was afraid labor was starting! But it can be hard to tell the difference between RLP, random weird cramping, and contractions especially at this point. Everything just seems to hurt ha.

Whenever people find out we didn't find out the sex they are like "oh well you have a boy and girl already". Um, NO actually we just don't give a flying EFF about what sex our kids are hence why we will always be team green even if we have 10 babies.

stayingblonde I really hate people's ideas of what pregnant people can/cannot do. I really hope I make it to Monday (I'll be 39w) so I can run a local 5k just to show people that we aren't disabled.
