marshian when is the best time to set up newborn photos? Is it something you need to book before he gets here, or can you book after? How many weeks in advance would you say are best for your photographer? Obviously not marshian but from my research the earlier the better. They at least want to know ahead of time so they can try to keep those couple weeks fairly open. It would also depend on how busy the photographer generally is. I actually contacted the photographer we've used for minis just last week to book something "end of August/early Sept". I told her I have no idea when we'll be home and we likely won't have much time between coming home and when she needs to start casting for her foot. She said we'll make it work.

What are people’s thoughts on starting a Facebook group? As we get closer to baby’s coming it might be nice to have a more private place to chat and post pictures and have MOTN threads. I know we are a small group and people share a lot here but thought I would throw it out there. I know for me, Facebook is always easier for groups. I'll join. I hate FB but it's definitely easier for pics.

@crazy3dogmom ughhh me too. I can't believe there are still 7 weeks left because I already feel entirely too huge and slow and my body can't keep up with the things I want to do. If this is what it's like to get old, count me out 😂
Also, I'm cool with FB or a locked group. My O15 has a private board on this forum which is nice but I really dislike sharing pictures on here, probably because it's so easy on FB and I just don't have the patience for anything that requires more effort ha. But either way is fine with me!

I forgot about the trouble with pictures on here. Maybe because I've never posted one? I keep wanting to post, but I can’t quite figure it out. I had it down on TD and GBCB but now I’m lost. FB would be an easier picture experience at least

My photographer told us newborn photos are best done within the first 2 weeks. We missed that window by a week or so with our 3rd and the like stinker was wide awake the whole time!

How many weeks in advance would you say are best for your photographer? Best to book ASAP! It's easier to get on the schedule further in advance. Most will ask for your due date and then tell you to let them know when baby arrives and you'll set up the session day and time then. Best timing is within 10 days of birth so not much lead time.

I'm cool with a FB group. I don't post pics if my kid (now will be kidS, eek!) on there unless her face is hidden, even in secret groups, but I'm a minority there.

I’m fine with a Facebook group or locked group here or whatever. I don’t post pics of my kids online anywhere, secret group or not. So as long as that’s ok I’m good with whatever!

I would do a locked group on proboards, but I don't do fb unless I know people in real life (no offense). I also won't be offended if the majority rules fb.
Joining in on the comments of about to have three kids. Ahhhhhh!!!

First non-stress test went well. She was kicking away at the monitors.
They estimated she is 4lbs 15 oz at 32w3days, so she might be a little bigger than my boys who were 7 lbs and 7 lbs 7 oz.

That’s a great size! They told me to basically add half a pound per week left until delivery, but I’m not sure how true that is for predicting 🤷🏼♀️

I’m so jealous, mine keeps falling asleep as soon as I get hooked up and it takes forever for her to give them what they want.

This may be silly so forgive this first time mom- my doctor hasn't mentioned anything about an NST. Is this the typical routine? I am getting extra scans since baby is measuring small- 10% or less at 20weeks and 13% at 28weeks. My poor furbaby had her ACL repair surgery yesterday. She is miserable, and taking her out to do her business should probably be a 2 person thing. Just did it solo as DH is at work and feel like I just ran 5 miles. I wouldn’t be surprised if you start them at some point, but no, they are not standard. They’re only done on high risk pregnancies or if there’s something to be concerned about (lack of movement, size, etc). I didn’t start them until 37w with DS2, but I started at 32w this time (the one I had a few weeks ago didn’t count since that was due to falling)

Like cmb said NST just for high risk. Mine are for pre-existing hypertension before pregnancy which is controlled with medication. They started at 32 weeks like cmb said. Last pregnancy, it was every two weeks but this one it's every week because I'm advanced maternal age too. I would think theyd do it for measuring small but maybe they'll start a little later.

@crazy3dogmom yeah, I've only had with my first 3 pregnancies and that was just because I made it to my due date. They're definitely not the norm!

I have never had a NST in any of my pregnancies 🤷🏽♀️ I had one scheduled with DD for 41+2 in the afternoon but she was born that morning so obviously I didn’t end up going. The plan was to do the NST and then discuss an induction date it needed (I didn’t want to be induced so I pushed the NST as late as they would let me)

@crazy3dogmom I'll be starting them 2x/week at 36 weeks, but only because I'm old af. My last pregnancy I had 1 and I think it was because I was overdue? I can't remember. I was also old af last time, but my Dr. was very breezy about my age and didn't seem to be worried about it.

I think I had them with DS2 mainly because I was borderline IUGR with him. This time, I suspect they started earlier with both the BPPs and NSTs because of it. I was actually surprised they started at 32w

@crazy3dogmom I just found out I will be having them twice a week starting at 34 weeks until delivery only because I turn 35 next month.

Had our 34 week appointment on Thursday. Because I started out overweight, it’s standard practice apparently starting now until delivery to do NST testing weekly. 🤷🏻♀️So we had both a growth scan and NST. Had to rearrange all my future appointments to accommodate the added testing. NST went fine, growth scan showed O is around 5 pounds 14 ounces and measuring 1-2 weeks ahead so we will see what the future holds. They want another growth scan at 37 weeks to determine if a VBAC is safe/advisable or if we should plan an RCS for 39 weeks. Never a dull moment. I am also not a fan of determining anything based on growth scans because they can be so very inaccurate.

Has anyone had spotting in the third trimester? I was on my feet yesterday at work for about 10 hours, went to use the bathroom at the end of the night and noted some in my pantyliner. I had been having some BH contractions throughout the day. I called my doctor and they said to head to labor and delivery if contractions continued or the spotting got worse. I haven’t had any this morning, but a first for me this early. I have an appt on Wednesday, hopefully things are quiet until then.

aeroplaneoverthesea I know it can happen, but it doesn’t make it any less concerning. I had some brown... stuff... yesterday and BH going on, along with constant headbutts to the cervix and a chiropractic pelvic adjustment, so I’m sure all that combined caused it. I don’t recall this happening this early with either of my boys. Actually, I didn’t have any at all with DS1, and it didn’t happen until after a membrane strip with DS2

I had some bright red blood last Saturday while wiping first thing in the morning. I freaked and went to the hospital, the doctor said it looked like it was just my mucous plug coming out and everything else looked fine. I’ve also been having BH all week.

@crazy3dogmom I wasn't high risk with my first or now with my second and no NST until I hit 41 weeks with my first. Not sure what the policy is for this new practice but likely nothing until 40+ weeks.

Anyone use a peanut ball for labor? I used a round ball (like an exercise ball) that the hospital had last time and it really helped. I liked it so much I am planning to purchase one since the hospital has limited supplies. However, I saw the peanut ball as an option and wondered if anyone had used one and preferred it to the round ball.

I was on the epidural and miserable at the time so I don't know if it helped or not. Sorry that isn't very helpful 😂

I just had my appointment and I guess when they did my measurement, I didn't really grow in between appointments so I'm now measuring a full month behind (31 weeks when I'm just about 35 weeks). The doctor wants me scanned to check for IUGR...I did have this issue with DD2 but I always had progress in between appointments, they were just being more or less proactive. Anyway, I'm not really stressing out but it's always a little unnerving to hear that this late in the game and my u/s isn't for another 2 weeks...yay for waiting 😑

randomosity, that would make me really nervous. Is there no way they could move the ultrasound up? With your earlier pregnancy, did they end up inducing early bc of iugr? Not trying to make you worry more, but I would be worried about placental health and not want to wait two weeks.

randomosity +1 to seeing if you can get in earlier. By 37w, they had me doing weekly BPPs and NSTs with DS2 due to borderline IUGR.
