A package I needed was delivered to my neighbors. Well it took me an hour to get Mallory asleep and I asked A to go get it for me since I was afraid to move her from my chest. He said he didn't want to. So I put her down, which immediately wakes her up and he says "oh I was going to go get it for you!" 😠 That's when you leave the awake baby with him and go get the package. But, I 100% get the frustration.

Thanks everyone! Pms is definitely affecting my mood the last few days so I think I was overly sensitive to the idea of doing it all alone.

Will YH help give you a break when he is on the beach? Will YH help with meals, baths, downtime, ect (maybe similar to question #1

@wine, He’ll be there for everything but the solid stay (~6 hours) on the beach. And I have a feeling he’ll end up taking Charlie back with him at least once bc they are attached at the hip lately. He just burns easily so he hates extended sun stays but he knows I love it so he’s pushing for us to go with this as a compromise.
ETA: I didn’t address question 2. I don’t really want a break in the beach. I might have to use the bathroom, but otherwise I don’t want it leave it.

I left the hospital at 7:45 because I was tired and hungry and know H cant take care of dinner. Evie had a lunchable, he had nothing.
They're releasing my step dad. Besides the elevated white cell count, they found drops of blood in his urine.
My mom is freaking out...my step dad had cancer previously, so shes a mess. She told me she was going to have my step dad drive home. I said NO. He has been on pain meds and muscle relaxers, he cant drive. Told her H and I would come up and get them, it's like 10 minutes. She said she pulled herself together and we dont need to come back.
Stubborn old lady.

I’m sorry mwhip. I hope he’s feeling better soon. guster that sounds like fun! Put puddle jumpers or life jackets on the kids. Do you have a beach tent or umbrella that your husband could sit under? That might be a good idea for him. I’m glad he’s pushing to do it though!

guster go! And make him take the kids back for naptime so you can relax on the beach solo! I personally like a break mid-day from the beach bc I roast though. My favorite time is like 5pm when the sun isn't so strong and it's empty. Also +1 on lifejackets, I want all the kids in them this week and terrified of N even in her puddle jumper, the beach is kind of steep where we are though and it's rough water.

We’re fine here at our pool because he’s always playing with them, but I watched him at the lake try to put his head back and close his eyes. I put a stop to that real quick. Sure, you can do that, but you need to let me know that you’re doing that or want to do that bc otherwise it’s just presumptions and rude.

guster your post inspired me to talk to H about visiting the beach again next summer. We just planned our trip! April 27 through May 2. Clearly we will have to pull Evie from school, but it's the beach, who cares?

And it’s probably an UO, but I don’t think anything if pulling a kid from school for a vacation.

Give me a cooler of beer, sunshine and the breeze and I'm the happiest person in the world! I think when the kids are older, like HS, then I'd think more about pulling her from school. But kindergarten? What is she really going to miss? It's the exact same week we were in Alabama this year, the weather was perfect.

We are pulling S for a day a week after school starts for a trip to the lake with MH’s aunts that we never see.

I also don't have an issue pulling kids from school either. If they had learning/performance issues or were in HS, I'd be less inclined to do it, but at this age I don't think it's a big deal.

I’m planning to pull M for a few days in December to go to Disney. We loved the Christmas feel when we went for his first birthday, but definitely not going over holiday break because too many people. I can’t book yet because we have to see how football season starts out, but as soon as I have the green light, I want to book the first or second week of December.

I was curious about pulling kids from school for vacations, too. I'm sure it varies by school district, but how do yours handle it? Do you lie about their absence? Is it unexcused? Are they allowed a certain # of unexcused absences before it hurts them? It's been too long since I've been in school and I don't remember shit about absences. Lol.
I'd prefer the next time we go to Disneyland to do it during the week and not on a holiday. Spring Break was not delightful.

Our schools here allow a certain # of excused absences each year (not sure what it is, probably can be found on the district website). We just let their teachers know they will be out for vacation. It's parental knowledge and consent communicated to the school that makes it excused, not the purpose, so you don't have to worry about trying to avoid saying the reason. We asked teachers for HW packets for the week ahead of time but both times the teachers didn't care and basically said M is doing fine in school, just have fun. I know other teachers may be more uptight about it, but at the end of the day it's not their decision so they have to go along with it. Normally I wouldn't want to pull them out this early, but the girls are joining me for a Boyz II Men concert their second week of school. I could take them after school, but it's at the state fair and I thought it'd make more sense just to make a day of it since with concert tickets we get free fair admission. Plus the fair will be much less busy on a weekday. They will likely both still be doing orientation stuff so I figured might as well have a fun girls day.

Not sure how my current school will be, but at M’s school in Alabama, they just wanted to know ahead of time if the kids were going to be out. A simple email to the teacher would suffice. I would probably ask what they would be working on the days out and if she had anything to send with us for him to work on while we were on the plane.
