Omg I’m so sorry for your guys’ bad rashes!! N had one a couple weeks ago bc of too much pooping and I was like wtf?? It had been so long since a bad rash 😰
My arm is so itchy. It’s so hot here and I can’t scratch my itchy arm and hand under the cast. Ahhhhhhh

I know this is weird and crunchy, but yogurt cured DS's yeast rash that no other ointment could help. Poor guy had that thing forever, and after a day of yogurt it was gone. I also think the cold help with some more immediate relief.

Ok friends. I know we’re less than a week in, but DS is burning through his undies at school. They put him in a pull up after three accidents, and he keeps that damn thing dry. I think he mostly doesn’t want to quit playing or whatever they’re doing. He’s telling them when he has to go, but he can’t seem to relax enough at school to go. Any thoughts?

That's funny that you guys mention Daniel Tiger songs. Before we left on vacation we watched the "enjoy the wow that's happening now" episode about being in the moment. I have found myself repeating it to myself when I keep thinking about how we have X many days left and want to do y amount of things.
As far as default parent MH is usually really good with this and we share the load. However I almost murdered him when we got to the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and he said "you forgot to pack the stroller". No. I packed everything else. But you put everything in the car. So WE forgot to pack the stroller.

I am in less pain today than I have been in the past week so that’s good so I’m able to space my pain meds out and give my liver a bit of a break LOL but it still incredibly frustrating to not really be able to do anything with my right hand and arm. This voice to text feature on phones is really helpful. I can honestly say I have never used it as much as I have this past week ha ha.

Is he in training underwear or regular underwear? Training. DD did the can't stop won't stop thing with PTing. She still does. She'll do the crossed leg, holding crotch, and dancing until the very last second. I would put him in pull-ups at school but undies at home. At some point DC is going to switch him back to pull-ups anyways because of the amount of accidents. It's a maturity and learning to hold it thing. It took DD a long time to get fully potty trained and it was done in stages.

sheilathetank did you (or anyone else!) try the full Oh Crap method where they go commando? I wasn’t sure daycare would be on board, so I didn’t even try. Now I’m wondering if we fucked up and should go back a step.

DDs friend did the oh crap and figured it out in a day. Her other friend potty trained herself by 2 because she didn't like diapers. So YMMV.

I made the mistake of reading blogs about people using Oh Crap and the kid figuring it all out by the end of day one. Our day one was such a fucking disaster. I just searched one of my parenting groups on FB and found others with similar experiences to us, so I have a few things to talk to the teacher about tomorrow. I didn’t think about things like DS prefers his pants fully off at least one leg so he can spread out and point his penis down. Anyway. Thanks for letting me ramble here again.

That does remind me that when I was researching cloth training pants that everything I read said to get only a few since their kids trained in a day. That was a mistake. I had to scramble to get more. Glad you have a plan for daycare.

Big mistake.

His teacher just messaged me (continuing a convo from earlier) that he’d rather wash his hands in the tiny sink than sit on the potty. 😂 Little stinker!

I swear PTing is the worst. My almost 5 yo has accidents still because she doesn't want to stop playing. The 3 yo is so much better about going potty most days than the oldest one. Oh and the 2 yo just wants to hold his penis all day... Almost got us kicked out of the splash pad today.

DS1 will kick his pants and underwear off to pee 🤷🏼♀️he often runs out naked 🤦🏼♀️ Maybe I’ve said this in the past, but we put underwear under his pull up. He would get the feeling of being wet, but his clothes wouldn’t have to be changed each time. He still occasionally has accidents in public, but he’s afraid of public restrooms with auto toilets, so work in progress I think this only worked for him because he hates being in wet clothes, so it taught him to stop playing and go pee and is eventually how he ended up night training himself due to his favorite bedtime activity (“play penis”) 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

D1 gave no fucks about PT, like basically wouldn’t really even try until almost 3.5 but then it was like a switch went off and she decided she was ready. She basically did everything at once in like 3 days, night trained and all. Kids man.

That’s a great idea. I’ll float it past his teacher this morning.

Popping in - I know M is older but we're going through the same thing. We had a few pantsless days two weekends ago and he got the hang of it right away; he's peeing and pooping in the toilet at home like a champ, but success at daycare is slow going. So he goes to school in pull ups. His provider has told me it takes time. It's a comfort issue, being at home vs. elsewhere.

I got him to go for me at school before I left this morning. I had to use the sink as a bribe. What a silly kid.

One day he was just ready and within 3 days was 100% trained (day, night, long car rides, grocery shopping, you name it). DS2 is about a month in, and while he's doing really well, he still has accidents and is nowhere near night trained.

While it seemed frustrating at the time to wait that long, it was soooooooooo nice to have it all over and done with quickly like that. I'm curious what D2 will be like. She seems interested now (turning 2 in August) but I feel clueless since its the opposite of D1, lol.

Like your girls, my boys are exact opposites. My first was super interested early, my second flat out told me he wanted to wear diapers forever. He didn't care that all his friends at preschool were in underwear. Didn't care that he couldn't move up into the next room at preschool until he wore underwear. And both literally woke up one morning, asked to use the potty and wear underwear, and never had an accident. Potty training has literally been the easiest part of parenting for me.

We just turned DD. We got halfway home from the Cape and she puked. She was so incredibly upset and wouldn't get back in the car. So we said fuck it. She's less than 2lbs off from the CT state limit and we're technically in Rhode Island anyways. The seat allows forward facing at 22lbs so I know the seat is safe. She is so incredibly happy right now that she can see everything. FX for no more puke.
