Hope you don't mind, but it's 2 full days into July now so time for a new thread. Any big summer plans for anyone?

Eek, I can’t believe the we are into the second half of the year!
I’ve had 4 days to myself at home and tomorrow I join my kid and H to vacation with his siblings and ILs for a week. We do it every year and every year it’s a little bit different with the kids as they age. It’ll be hectic but fun too. We don’t really have a lot of other plans yet.

DH comes home tonight and I am super ready to have some help. The weather is getting nice so I see lots of walks/parks in our near future. We also have a family trip planned for late August. We're keeping it a surprise for now, the boys haven't been out of the Province before. I'm excited for their reactions.

WE'RE GOING ON VACATION!!!! This is our first real vacation as a family and I'm super excited.
I have a little tradition with DD that the day before the 4th we go to the zoo. This year we switched it up a bit since we leave Saturday. I took Friday off and DD requested the aquarium. It's really nice because, since I work full time, we don't get to visit those places at non peak times.
Oh, and my activity may be sparse over the next week. I'm going to try to make an effort to be active and off my phone. But, who knows.

I'll be interested to see if DS lasts long enough for fireworks this year. He usually turns into a hot mess around 8:30, so we'll see.
We're starting PT this weekend. T&Ps appreciated. I really think it will go well, though. He's a smart cookie, and I know he can do it.
No other major plans, though. DH decided not to do the hiking trip and is sending SD with his parents instead. I know it's probably easier with a freshly PT kiddo, but I was looking forward to a weekend alone. Oh well.

Hope everyone has fun on their respective vacations. We just did a mini getaway to the great Wolf Lodge for 2 nights and that was fun for N.
I just had hand surgery on Monday so I’m in a hard cast for two weeks and I’ve been in quite a bit of pain so that kind of sucks but I think it’s getting better and I’m going out for a belated birthday lunch today and going to get my hair washed and blow dried it since I can’t do it myself and my husband is a dud at helping me with this shit. Not having your dominant hand really sucks!
Also our sleep issues are well well documented mostly in my BMB but we started to make our DS fall asleep on his own which he used to do and he has been doing great these last four nights and also two nights ago he only woke up once and DH was able to just go and calm him down and leave instead of having to stay in there and then last night he slept through the night!!!
So sorry for the lack of proper punctuation I am using talk to text because texting with my left hand takes like five years.

gingy, We push through on the 4th. My town's fireworks are the bomb and I'm going to enjoy it damnit! I load her up on sugar, pop her headphones on her, and let her run it out. We take it very low key the next morning with lots of screen time before more sugar and running at the family picnics. good luck potty training! addymac, I LOVE Great Wolf Lodge. I hope we can go either this fall or sometime in January. I love it so much, but boy is it $$$. That sucks about your hand. I broke my right shoulder last winter and it SUCKED especially with a toddler.

I’m really struggling with DS1’s behavior. The pediatrician thinks it’s because he’s suffering from anxiety and lashing out because of that. 😪

Anything in particular you want to talk about? 😪 he was sent home from school two days in a row. It’s bad. We’re lucky they didn’t kick him out today. He goes back into his program on Monday, and I’m not sure if it’ll be enough to bring him back. We started him on Zoloft yesterday, but it takes 2-3 weeks before we’ll really see if there’s improvement

I'm sorry. Thats really tough. I would be beside myself if I was on edge that daycare was going to kick my kid out. Can your doctor give them a heads up that his behaviour could take a week or two to even out? They know he has special needs.so i hope they would be more accommodating.

I called them as soon as we got out of the pediatrician’s office (I had told them we were taking him in). There’s only so much they can handle though, and he crossed the line today. Any other kid would have been kicked out

We just got back from NH in the White Mts. We went to Storyland and Santa’s Village. D1 surprised me and loved all the rides so that was fun! Her behavior since we have been home is a total nightmare 👎 I’m hoping it’s because she is getting back into the swing of things but JFC.
D2 is now refusing all cups unless open, drinking and grabbing everybody’s water bottle she can get her hands on and pulling a shit fit about sitting in her seat and wants a regular chair. Yay! Kids are so fun 🤣
We are doing a cookout tomorrow with family and friends and then maybe a couple days down MH’s family’s beach house.
I mentioned a few weeks back I was laid off. Well I ended up getting transferred to another department within the University. It’s basically a lateral move BUT I still have the same schedule and flexibility so that is huge! (One day WFH and Fridays off)

cmb I’m so sorry. That sounds really tough. jt2378 YAY for the job!! Omg N also refuses his high chair for us so we had to get him a booster seat for the dining room table 🙄 sheilathetank aww yay!! When I was looking to go I giggled and found a 50% off each night code, which made it so affordable. Made the trip even more fun, knowing how much I saved 😂

We just got notice that there are kids in D1’s preschool this year with severe nut allergies so they are going nut free. I’m sorry for anyone here who deals with that. It must be so scary and hard. Does anyone have snack and food ideas for lunches she can bring?

I just threw out our lunch menus, but both our daycare and DS1’s program are peanut and nut free- Soy butter/sunbutter and jelly sandwiches Hummus and crackers or veggies Chicken nuggets (my kids eat these cold, same with pasta) Non-nut fruit muffins I should be getting the July menu soon for more ideas

(One day WFH and Fridays off) Congrats! FWIW, DS2 was just under 2 when he demanded to start sitting at the table like a big kid, so I would consider just letting her sit in a regular chair pushed all the way in. He wanted to be like his big bro

Does anyone have snack and food ideas for lunches she can bring? SD liked to bring hot leftovers in a thermos. Chili was a filling fave. We also did quesadillas, which she didn’t mind cold, pasta salads, homemade “lunchables,” sometimes a salad.

Does anyone have snack and food ideas for lunches she can bring? We do a variety of fruits and yogurt, sandwiches, leftovers in a thermos (spaghetti, fetuccini, meatballs and rice, etc), cold pizza, muffins, pouches, as well as granola bars with the nut free symbol. There's tons you can do once you wrap your mind around it.

Does anyone have snack and food ideas for lunches she can bring? Do they do heatups? DDs preschool has a microwave so most often we send hot lunch.

I'm not home right now but I'll try to remember to take a picture later tonight. ETA: nvm. I realized your OP says nut allergy not just peanuts.

cmb I WAS the kid with severe anxiety and manage it as an adult because of years and years and years of therapy. So if you have any questions, I've been there on the other side. One of my close friends started her son on zoloft earlier this year and it's been life changing. She said it's like finally everyone can see the wonderful kid she knew was there, that he was unable to share with others. I hope you have a similar experience.

We're currently on vacation. Or I should say "momming away from home" because is it ever really a vacation if kids are involved? We got a hotel room with an ocean view so we can watch the fireworks from our deck.
Next month i'm going to Vancouver and we're going camping. Otherwise summer is pretty much the same as the rest of the year, subbing camp in for school for my oldest.
