Ah bummer! I almost did the $20 gift card deal too. I think $30 is the best deal they do so I usually try to hold out for that. I completely forgot they do get higher than $20. I think I'm going to go buy $100 worth of wipes - with 2 kids in diapers and DS2 still being so young we'll need them for a while. Since kids can't size out of wipes like they do diapers I might as well buy a bunch. We need some more swim diapers for this summer too so I'm sure I can get to $100 pretty quickly. we actually really like the up and up brand wipes. I bought 7 big boxes and some baby wash and it came out to $100.32 😊

We survived our trip to California and Caleb’s baptism and two cross country plane rides! Here’s s pic of C and his 7 weeks older cousin. She is all cheeks and cuddly, yet serious, and not crawling yet. Such a difference from C, who is a social butterfly who smiles at everyone and never stops moving. They were so cute together, though. Oh, and he started pulling up and standing while we were there. He wants to walk so badly and I am so not ready. Since we got back his sleep has been crap though, is there an 8 month sleep regression?

Yay Dramaphile on your successful trip. P had some crappy sleep at 8 months too. But luckily we are close to over it. If we don’t hit that sweet nighttime spot she’s still harder to put down.

He was up and down for a few hours at the beginning of the night but then slept for a good 6 hour stretch yay. Much better than the up every 2 hours the night before. J said his naps during the day have been off, too. He just wants to do and see everything and has serious FOMO.

Mostly when she's eating, if there is any sound or movement she freaks out and refuses to eat.

I can hardly get him to nurse in public unless he's super tired and in a carrier, and even then he pops on and off to look around. And at home is almost as bad with the TV and the dogs and his sister.

I literally cannot feed her in public any more. She would rather starve than miss seeing something when we're out. Even at other people's houses it's pretty hit or miss because "mom there are too many things to look at! Get your boob out of my face!" We leave for Michigan on Friday and I'm a little worried about if she'll eat on the plane. I'm hoping she'll be so exhausted she won't care but it could be a little iffy.

DramaphileYay for great trips! I think there is a regression. DS has been struggling in that department but we are also still adjusting with the move. I thought it may have to do with learning new skills. Today he took two unassisted baby steps!!! Every time he learns something new, he sleeps like shit.

He's definitely learning a ton of new skills, and I think he's teething again Last night was rough, he didn't want to be put in his crib, but after a while didn't want to sleep in the bed with me or be held, either. I finally just had to put him in the crib at about 4am and let him cry it out and he was asleep in about 10 min.

DramaphileI'm sorry. That's the worst. We had a night similar over the weekend. He woke up and was hysterical from 11-1am!!! Nothing at all helped. I was so close to just driving to ER but knew he'd fall asleep in the car and make me look crazy. I felt bad for my family and being in their small house with that.

The TruGreen guy showed up to do our tick spray. My not a good guard dog Labrador chose this guy to growl and bark at. During nap time. Thanks dog...

We made it to Michigan yesterday and the girls did surprisingly well on the planes. Last night went about as shitty as expected with the girls sleeping in the same room as us with a 3 hour time difference. Dd1 ended up in bed with us at 4 am and I didn't get much sleep after that. Hopefully we have good naps today (myself included!)
DH's Grandma's house is SO not baby and toddler proofed. We've had to move so many things. She said "can't you just tell dd1 not to touch things?" Uh ya my highly spirited toddler is just going to avoid touching that really pretty glass antique that's within her reach because Mom said not to touch it...

This is exactly how it is living with my mom. It's exhausting because it's far from baby proofed. He can reach the big tv which is on a glass entertainment center. Exposed plugs everywhere. I could go on and on. I basically spend all day chasing DS and moving him from dangerous situations. Just in the time it took to type this, I moved him twice. 😭

My parents have 4 Grand kids under the age of 3 that frequently are over at her house and she has baskets of pine cones all over the place that we have to move every single time we go over. I'm like come on mom, can't we put the pine cones away for a little while?!

Bringing my kids to most other peoples houses stresses me out so bad. MH's grandparents place is the worst. That has to be hard living somewhere where it's a daily worry pixiepink24.

All the olds think my 3 year old should listen and follow every direction. 😂 Now it's hard because I have to worry about dd1 grabbing breakable things and dd2 finding weird little things that she tries to eat. It's not really a vacation...

DD has a fever today. She's had a couple doses of Tylenol, but I'm considering giving her Motrin for her next dose at bedtime. I know they have to be 6 months before having Motrin, but it's there something special I need to look out for the first time she has it? Should I not use it at night the first time?

As a personal rule I generally won't give a new med right before bed, but I've never known someone to have problems with motrin/ibuprofen. I find it works WAY better than Tylenol.

I've found that Motrin works better for my DS too. I ended up calling my BFF who's an NP and asked her advice. I decided to go ahead and give DD the Motrin for this first stretch of the night because I'll still be awake for at least a few hours with the monitor so I can keep an eye on her. Then if she needs another dose of something overnight, when I'll be going back to sleep, it will be the Tylenol.

My period is finally back and I'm taking a try at the Diva Cup. Anyone have any pointers? I did it for a bit yesterday. First round went well but when I took it out and cleaned and reinserted, it wasn't as comfortable. I assume it takes time to get it right.
We are finally getting back in a groove of doing things each day. It's been nice to keep my mind off things. DD starts full time PreK in exactly two weeks so we have a lot to prepare for. She ended up getting into our first choice school after all but now I have a hell of a commute. She's never even been in a daycare or summer camp before and now will be gone mon-fri 8:30-3. What a big change!

Thanks Nymeria and pixiepink24. I'm glad I gave her the Motrin. It brought her fever down below 100 and it's stayed below that since. It's strange, she had the fever and I could sometimes see that she just didn't feel great, but otherwise she didn't really have any other symptoms. She's sounding a bit more boogery today so I guess maybe it's just a little summer cold. So far everyone else is fine 🤞🏻

pixiepink24 I am a big fan of the cup! If it's not comfortable, definitely take it out and re-insert. Sometimes it's too low and I find just pushing it up with my finger gets it in a more comfortable spot, or pinching the bottom and rotating it. There are also different folding methods you can try for inserting it (if you google menstrual cup folding there are charts). You can also cut off the stem if it sits too low and irritates you (remove by pinching the bottom of the cup). I just tried a different brand of cup (had the Diva pre-baby and decided to get a blossom from amazon because it was cheap) and found that the new cup was a little smaller and would slip down all the time. Putacupinit.com has a chart of all the cup brands (and a lot of other resources and tips), so I ended up finding another brand that fit better.

pixiepink24 I recommend looking on YouTube to see some ideas for different folds. I found it helpful to kind of 'bear down' on the cup while pushing/holding it in place after its opened. Also, spinning the cup 360° when it's in place. Getting the hang of it definitely took some practice and I had to try a few different cups before I found one that worked because my cervix sat soooo low after baby. IIRC Dirty Diaper Laundry made a good video and Precious Star Pads (?) has a bunch. I think that's the name.

I think that's the same woman who does Dirty Diaper Laundry and what I was thinking of. They also had a good 'quiz' to recommend different types of cups to fit your body. That's how I finally found one to try that worked. +1 to trimming/removing the stem if needed. I can't have ANY stem. I also had better luck using one brand (I think it may actually be the Blossom) turned inside out. And I know I've read a lot of Diva Cup users do that. pixiepink24

Thanks for all the tips ladies! Today I got it in deeper but it left me in pain like bad cramping. I felt better immediately after removing it. I'm so worried about messing up my IUD or by mistake yanking on the string.

I'm so worried about messing up my IUD or by mistake yanking on the string. for the few periods I've had in the past few years, I tried a cup (I don't remember the brand) but it didn't work for me. I tried all the folds, etc. And I could never get it to be comfortable or get everything contained. I gave up after having it leak and feeling comfortable all the time.
