Sorry I disappeared end of last week! I always have a hard time getting on here on weekends and I took Friday off too so I haven't been on a computer since Thursday.
Month-end again. And quarter-end. But at least I have a vacation coming up in a few weeks!

If you guys haven't heard yet, Prime Day will be July 15-16 this year. In addition, Target has announced their own Target Deal Days to run concurrently to compete with Amazon.
Probably a good time to look for convertible car seats if you still need one! I've been saving up Target Gift Cards to put towards ours so I'm really hoping there's a deal on the Chicco NextFits at Target.

I'm usually actually kinda disappointed in Prime Days because there's not usually anything I want. I did get a Roomba last year, but I hadn't planned on it! This year I should look into the robot that mops the floor.... 😂 I might also be interested in a Kindle reader. MH has a Fire that I've read books on, but the light kinda hurts my eyes after a while. And the deals on their own devices are usually pretty good.

You can adjust the brightness so the device looks like paper in any lighting. They basically use it to clean all the crap out of their warehouse so for the most part I don't buy much either. This year I've made a list of things I want for our vacation coming up and if they go on sale, great. If not, I need to buy them anyway. That's why I'm more excited for Target - I feel like for the most part the deals will be on more usable stuff since they don't have warehouses packed with random shit all over.

We'll be on vacation during prime days which dh is probably happy about haha. Last year I bought way too many things. Dd2 is already in a convertible car seat so I won't be sad for missing out on any car seat deals.

I've been teaching DD how to wave the past few days while saying both "hi" and "bye-bye". I feel pretty certain that she's trying to mimic both sounds! I wonder if she'll talk earlier than DS. It will seem so weird if she does since he talked so late.

tbirdlove I feel like P says “hi” and “yeah”. I keep trying to tell M she needs to talk to P in her big girl voice because she’s learning. At this point I’d take baby talk because right now we are in a chicken phase. P is hearing a lot of “bawk”. It is cute when M is singing in the car to hear P babble along too.

I'm still feeling worried about dd's lack of communication. I had made a speech evaluation but then cancelled it because she's so young but I can't help but feel like maybe I'm not doing enough to try to teach her. She is doing great with everything else though so hopefully it'll come soon.

It's so easy to jump back and forth between feeling like you're too concerned vs not doing enough. Has there been any change in the amount of babbling? I'm not talking any type of actual word, just general noises.

I think she might be kind of getting "uh oh". She won't even try to say ma, da, etc. When we ask her to say it.

I'm still thinking the noises she does make are a good sign and the others will follow, but would doing the evaluation make you feel more comfortable? I know you had scheduled one and cancelled it, but if doing an eval would make you feel more comfortable I wouldn't hurt. I don't really understand how they would do one this young since I can't get DS2 to repeat stuff really either, but they must be able to since they offer the service. She'll likely be fine on her own, but since it's stressing you out I'm team doesn't hurt to get it checked out if it makes mom less stressed.

I've been MIA with the move and it's been really hard. It took us way longer to move everything and the landlord was being a pain. This is a huge adjustment. DD turned 4 on Monday. And DS is now 8 months! He's doing well, minus being sick. He's loving standing and just hanging out like this. He will sometimes move one of his feet toward an object but no actual walking yet. I have a feeling he will by 9 months.

brenna I think that sounds like a good plan. If it makes you feel any better, my ds isn't doing much of that either. But he makes lots of sounds, mostly squealing, so I think it's fine for now. It's so hard to know. Just remember, even if something is "wrong" and they need some sort of help, there isn't likely much you could do at this point anyway. So please, don't blame yourself for not doing enough. It will be okay, either way.

brenna I know it's hard not to worry, but your DD may just be more interested in and focused on developing other skills! I agree with waiting to talk to your regular pedi at 12 months. My DS was evaluated around 20 months. They did a hearing test and the evaluation focused a lot on his language comprehension more than his actual words or sounds (or lack thereof 😉). We learned through the experience that there's so much more that goes into language and speech development than just "speaking".

How was everyone's Independence day? I didn't see a single firework and was asleep by 9:30. 😕 But we saw a lot of family and friends so that was fun!

PSA: target has spend $100 get a $30 dollar gift card on baby diapers, wipes, lotions, and soap. I stocked up on wipes, I'm going to buy them anyways so I might as well get $30!

I think $30 is the best deal they do so I usually try to hold out for that.

I think I'm going to go buy $100 worth of wipes - with 2 kids in diapers and DS2 still being so young we'll need them for a while. Since kids can't size out of wipes like they do diapers I might as well buy a bunch. We need some more swim diapers for this summer too so I'm sure I can get to $100 pretty quickly.
