Why does it have to be Monday already?

Hey! Chill day at my house. I got a smart doorbell installed this morning by someone from our internet company. The girls are having way too much fun with it. Now I want to buy all the smart home stuff. It’s in the 70s today and the weather feels so nice. We spent most of the morning playing outside.

So I have to share this story from last night.

B always wants whatever S has (obviously), and lately he has had his sights on one of S stuffed doggies. Last night, while S was engrossed in the tablet before bed, B asked him for it. S said yes. I even asked again to make sure he heard what he was agreeing to. Yes again. Great. B takes the dog and off to bed they go.

Fast forward 15 minutes and it's time for S to go to bed. He starts freaking out that he wants his doggie. Nope kid, that's not how it works. You agreed to it and now your brother is snuggling it as he goes to sleep. S starts getting upset so I am trying to think quickly how to neutralize the situation. I quickly remember that I have an old stuffed monkey laying around from when I Was a kid. I get it for him and explain that it used to be mine, that it always helped me through hard times, etc, and I'd like him to have it. He is happy with this and lays down for bed.

A few minutes later he calls me into his room and he is crying. I ask him what's up and he says "This monkey is just so cute and so special it just makes me cry". He was just hugging it tight and kept saying it over and over again, while crying. I told him that one day when he grows up maybe he can give his Rexy (his favorite) to his kid if he has one. He asked if he could save the monkey and give that to his kid and started crying again.

This morning he woke up still snuggling the monkey and told me he wanted some extra time in bed with the monkey before he got up.

TL/DR: my kid got super emotional about a stuffed animal from my youth and I think it's adorable.

jewels that’s adorable!!! Ds has my soft doll my mom made for me when I was a kid, I love seeing ds snuggle with it at night , brings back memories from my own childhood.

Any mad men watchers around here? We watched the first six seasons when they came out (ordering them a soon as they were brought out on dvd, because they weren’t aired here in tv). But somehow never got around to watching the final season. I forgot how good it was. I want all the wiggle dresses & hair styles...

Hi. Busy day here. The kids started swimming lessons this morning and then I took N to the library to sign up for the summer reading program. FFMC... we never been to the library so i had to get a library card and the girl working asked if we just moved to town. Lol. Nope.. 6 years ago 🙈.

Then home to get some stuff done around the house and some work done. It’s the start of our town festival week which we both volunteer for so we have something going on every evening through Sunday (except Tuesday) so it’s going to be busy.

Now I’m resting for a few minutes while N fees the baby kick. She also decided she does want to try dance again next year and signup for that is already today so we have to head there soon.

I laid down for 30 minutes to get baby girl out of my lungs/ribs. Woke up 2 hours later.. oops. Guess I wont be hitting the store before pick up 🤷‍♀️

mwhip, When he first looked at it he was sort of like "eh". It has a bandana around it's neck and he says "I guess I'll take him, but only if you take the bandana off. I looked and it doesn't come off easily so I said no. I half expected him to give it back to me. He said "Fine, I'll take it". So I was super surprised when he got so emotional!

He does have some old hot wheels/matchbox cars that MH saved from when he was a kid and he loves those, but did not have the same reaction to them.

Darn... I wasn’t to fond of six either, the era speaks less to me than the time periods before the ‘70 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Ugh. So the handle to the oven keeps coming off. One side of it wasn’t screwed in when we first moved in and since then we put both sides back on and it popped off again last night. So I called whirlpool to see if there was a recall or a part I could order and nope- it’s a 12 year old model that’s discontinued. I will go to get longer screws to see if that works, but man I will pissed if I have to buy a new range already. 😡

Hi, S was supposed to get her first home infusion today but the nurse couldn’t get a vein. Tried 3 times but she didn’t want to keep sticking her, so she’s coming back Friday to try again. I will have to try to hydrate her more. But she isn’t a heavy drinker so it could be challenging. If it doesn’t work we will have to just start going to the hospital again for the infusions. They usually use ultrasound there to get the IV started.

I’m in a crabby mood today. I’m not really sure why but I woke up agitated. C made gift bags for all of his classmates graduating but I was short five so we have to go to the party store after karate. I may hit the drive thru for dinner just to not have to deal with it when we get home.

Dramatic drive home. J announced 10 min into the drive that he had to pee, so stopped at a nearby sbux and then the doors appeared locked so we waited, and waited, and finally asked the barista to check and she freaking opened the door. I was soooo annoyed with myself. Thankfully he held it, but gosh, it was stressful. Now I'm parked on the couch while mh makes salmon.

My friend asked me to be a bridesmaid and DD to be the flower girl for her wedding. T goes “what about me? I want a job in the wedding too.” My friend told him he could help the big guys pass out the programs. Today he announced “I really know what I want to do at S’s wedding. I’m going to be the server that gets to go in the kitchen and bring everyone the food!”

How do you guys handle your kid blaming you for things or just being mean? C will often blame me for things like talking while he plays a game and it distracts him causing his guy to die. Tonight he said I was a bully because I told him he needed to change his underpants. These things only happen when he is tired but often spiral into hurtful things like “I like dad better”. I generally ignore and talk about how unkind it if once he’s rested. He apologizes but does it again so I wonder if others are dealing with similar and how you handle it.
