I accidentally backed into someone last night in the grocery store parking lot. The lady yelled at me and i asked if she wanted to call the police to document it. She said no and drove off because her car was a hot mess already i couldn’t tell what was the damage i did. Anyways, i thought i was in the clear until today i see where my car bumper is dented. Would it be awful if i told DH that someone must have hit me in a parking lot when i wasn’t there?! WHAT? SOMEONE HIT MY CAR? THOSE FUCKERS DIDN'T LEAVE A NOTE!

lahdeedah yes, healthcare.gov is still an option. My dad's self-employed and buys his and my mom's insurance privately, I think they go thru BCBS but I know it varies by state what's available. It's still not cheap, but prices have actually come down *a bit* since some of the mandatory requirements of the ACA were dropped. You could look for a high-deductible plan or something--those are usually less but typically still cover annual well-visit and obviously anything catastrophic.

FFWC: when I was in high school I side-swiped our high school maintenance golf cart (in my defense, the road into campus was super narrow on a good day, and cars were double-parked so there was next to no room to get thru.) No damage to the golf cart, and only a (very long) scratch on my passenger side. I swore my sister to secrecy. A couple weeks later, my dad noticed the scratch and I gave an Oscar-worthy performance of surprise/outrage/etc. He was all, "Oh flamingo, it's ok, we'll have that repainted." And he did. In hindsight I'm really surprised he bought that, b/c when I think about it now, it's pretty clear I was full of it.

Ok I’m over my annoyance. My garden looks great. I didn’t realize she was mulching too which saves me time and money. And she was planning to be alone too. I’m having some mom issues that I’m working out in therapy so it’s become a she can’t do anything right.

I have been super salty all day at work today - everything and everyone is on my nerves. I just want to take a damn day off but the idea causes more anxiety than it's worth. I can't even vent to my manager because he had his Dad's services today so the last thing I want to do is stress him out with work. But man, so I want to slap people today.

I once saw my neighbor’s car with some damage and asked if everyone was ok from an accident. She swore me to secrecy because she was taking the car to be repaired right away before her H got out of work because she didn’t want him to know she hit something.

Also, I almost caused a scene at my 10 year reunion because I left to find my car had been hit. Thankfully, I only went as far as to ask the bar manager if they had cameras in the lot (they didn’t) because when I got home, DH informed me he had done it earlier that day and failed to mention it.

snoopmommymom & et al. lolz at your car dilemmas. So many victims of hit and runs! I know I would start laughing and couldn't get through a lie to MH. Soon after I bought my last car MH rear-ended someone. It didn't do any damage and the lady was super nice and didn't claim it. But it severely damaged MH's ego and his identity as a "Smith Driver" (safety program from his old job). I promised to never speak of the incident again and never have (I'm not counting this now). But in other words I've got some collateral if I ever do a little swipey swipey.

I think I love evening swim lessons. C is home with my H, the waiting area is relatively quiet (we’re outside the pool and observing through a giant window), and I have my book and 1 blissful hour to myself. They really should offer cocktails and I’d be set!

FREEEEDOM! just dropped the kids off with the ILs until Sunday. I have very few plans except sleeping in, going for walks, getting a massage and pedicure. Plus a date night Friday to golf and dinner with friends. Only wine could make this better. Lol.

I was home one summer in college and was driving my parents 3rd car, a cutless. I went to turn around on the driveway and somehow lodged a large rock (like 1.5-2ft tall rock) under the car. I was so desperate to fix it that I kept telling my sister to lift the car up so I could get the rock out. Clearly...that didn't work. I had to call my dad at work and kept saying, "there's a rock under the car". He kept saying.... Uh, ok we'll just drive over it. He had to jack the car up to get it out. My parents have since gifted me the rock and it lives in our front yard, far from the driveway.

Hi! Chrome was stuck on my phone all day and I couldn't remember how to close apps since the latest upgrade.
Anywho, we had roofers come out today and at 7:30 this morning they were here and located some nails improperly placed and replaced them. And we only have to repaint the ceiling, not patch anything, phew! The contractor had said they were coming earlier than our appt at 1 and they wouldn't need to come in...so of course he wanted to see the damage. Thank goodness I was dressed!
Then drove kids in, got a nastigram from my Nemesis at work and had to respond and cc my boss and director to document it, then back home for contractor, and then back across town for a preparing for k workshop at school. Thankfully I went bc turnout was super low, so embarrassing. And now settling in for my group assignment.
Has anyone replaced shutters? Our wood ones look kind of awful and one set has horrible peeling. I was thinking I'd attempt to repaint the one set while on the house, but the guy said vinyl ones can look okay too..and maybe should fix or replace them all.

It’s the roof. MH got on top and can’t see any shingles out of place or anything though. I’ll be making some calls tomorrow.

C was also emotional tonight. He was playing a game on the iPad and I told him it was time for a shower. He asked to finish his game and I said yes. Then he lost and said it was because I was talking. It pissed and took all my marbles out then was pretty mean with his words. Somehow the whole thing ended with him thinking I didn’t like him anymore. Clearly he is overtired. We made up and he is in bed. He has speech tomorrow so he can sleep in. I hope he does.

tallb, our last house (a new build) didn't have shutters And we added them. Our current house's shutters looked fine but weren't a color we liked so we repainted them while on the house and it was easy. Not sure of that helps..

My uncle told me exactly what primer and paint to get (he sells paint) but I would be painting it on the house too..and only the one bc it's low and I'm lazy..maybe I could attempt it and see if it gets us through a few years..it'd be hard for it to look worse than it currently does.

tallb our house now has vinyl shutters. They're the standard louvered style you see on every other house of this era. I'm sure there are variations in quality--ours are clearly a Home Depot special lol. I would probably keep the wood ones, assuming they're in decent shape structurally. If you wanted to take them down and paint, sprayer's are fairly inexpensive and would probably make short work of them. eta: if you paint the low one, it very well may look different than the others, depending on when they were last done (fading, etc). Just something to think about.

I dont know how much ours is going to cost but the pulled some nails and replaced some shingles. We were worried we'd need to fix the ceiling but he said it dries fine and insulation should too, which surprised me. I was panicked we'd be ripped out he ceiling.. Also good to know flamingo re home owners insurance. This is our first time with it so don't want to get a record. Of course we switched car insurance when we got the house and mh was rear-ended within a week, thankfully it was 100% the other person's fault...just like snoopmommymom

Just something to think about. Hmm that is true. He quoted $1200 to fix all 6 sets, which I guess is $200 per set, but I don't feel like paying that. We do have an old brick colonial, so I can see why the wood would be preferable. I shall ponder.

I have not ever fixed/replaced shutters but I want to add some to one of my windows. It’s like 5ft wide though so I’m trying to figure out the right scale. Also the right style.
We ended up not going to the pool this afternoon and instead went to see the Budweiser Clydesdales at one of the grocery stores. They were cool to see, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to do it again. Then after supper we went to DH’s softball game. The girls had fun running around.
